Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks
disco2000 replied to Hawaiian Coasters 325's topic in Kings Island
But a lot of people get their information and form their entire opinion from click-bait, soundbite headlines lol It is good to see people of this forum starting to research and actually read the articles. We have seen a significant increase of people asking for someone to cite a source. I have posted here before many articles where the headline says one thing, but the article completely contradicts the headline! Do they care, NO, all they want is the click. -

That would require the freestyle stand to be open (we know they close them down when the owner of HO HO comes to town) -

It will, but offerings may be limited. You will still have to go to cashier for your drink plan though and probably will not work at every food place -

Western & Southern tennis tournament being moved from across the street from KI to New York this year. I guess that means no illegal POVs from the tennis players this year https://www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/tennis/2020/06/16/cuomo-allows-nyc-tennis-w-s-open-may-replace-u-s-open-qualifying/3198764001/ -
KI mourns Tom Dillingham - Manager of Rides Maintenance
disco2000 replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island
What a loss for the KI community. The Cincinnati Enquirer ran an article, but I had no idea that "Helbig ...... has ridden The Beast well over 12,000 times, including a record-setting 112 times in one day." But it must be true since the newspaper article says so... https://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/2020/06/13/kings-islands-long-time-rides-maintenance-manager-has-passed-away/3185491001/ -

At WoF, you will be able to reserve on the website, but one of the requirements coming out of WoF is that a member of the party needs to have the app while in the park and that is how they will scan in for reservations and stuff, so I would expect that will be the same at KI, but until they roll it out, we do not know for sure. -

Nothing official yet (other than what you can see from the video or FAQ at Worlds of Fun), but it sounds like it is simply a survey you fill out in the app of the typical questions - have you had a temp in the last 14 days, have you been exposed to anyone with covid, etc. -

Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks
disco2000 replied to Hawaiian Coasters 325's topic in Kings Island
The fact of the matter is that this virus is too new and the science doesn't absolute 100% provide proof one way or the other at this point on a lot of issues surrounding this virus. For every article someone finds to support their bias, someone else can find a contradictory article to support their bias. In absence of that 100% absolute certainty, regulatory agencies are going to adopt and recommend we practice the commonly accepted BMPs (best management practices) to help control and contain a virus spread. Another fact is that no country has gone through a complete 4-seasonal cycle of this virus, so the science isn't there to prove 100% whether this spreads outdoors or not. Again, one can find articles to support their bias. There are still a lot of unknowns about this virus. Some states that have opened up are now experiencing significant upticks in covid hospitalizations and Arizona has been told to activate emergency plans for their hospitals. These instances will tend to favor the idea that it can be spread outdoors as the articles all reference outdoor areas packed with people. Contact tracing will go a long way to help prove or disprove some of this. But our contact tracing will more than likely never get to the level of some other countries either. Several of the other countries that have had this virus earlier than the US has already had face masks as somewhat common place in their community and part of their culture, so that data is limited and not directly applicable to the US culture. No other country through this pandemic has experienced the non-social distancing without face masks protests, riots, and a love for roller coasters like the Americans. This data will be available in the coming weeks/months and will be a large data point moving forward in the science/medical community as it relates to spread outdoors. Until that time, science tells the regulatory agencies to err on the side of historical information as it relates to virus spread and containment. So large attractions either decide to open up and follow the BMP requirements at the time, or stay closed until the science on a new virus is more defined... -
What if it was turned into an observation tower and restaurant to watch the biggest fastest tallest longest meanest metal roller coaster ever to strike Kings Island

I'll give you a pro tip - because of how the app works, until an update is available on the app, you ain't gonna see anything new on the app

^hmmm that looks just like Mystic Timbers queue I would hope in the segments where they can have a whole queue lane open in between for the left and right separation that they will do that. -
Exactly! Instead of celebrating the park can open, people are now criticizing that the park doesn't do enough to market itself. Let's see if people feel that way once the reservation system opens up and they cannot get a reservation because they were not fast enough and it "sold out"! KI will have plenty of demand for attendance and will probably hit whatever cap they are required to work at almost daily. Proof that they have the product people want and why they market the way they do.

And not everything on this forum is about YOU - I was not referencing you - where did I say I was referencing you? I was simply pointing out how much CF spends in advertising since people seem to think they don't spend money marketing the park. But since you brought it up, do you know for a fact that CF doesn't spend any money on social media platforms to improve their reach or is that just a high school kid's experience based on your own free personal social media accounts? Take some of the advice @Oldschool75offered you earlier...
