As soon as his pass is scanned, they shut the FS down LOL.
-
It was open most of the day!
-
It has rained here today and some quick bursts that don't show up on radar lol

What another great event. So much to do and something of interest for everyone that participated. I am sure more than one participated in every event on the itinerary LOL. Thanks to all the staff for all of their hard work and dedication putting together such a jam-packed event. To put it in perspective, the cost to attend Coasterstock isn't that much more than the per-person charge for company picnics and that rate usually only gets them admission and a meal. Heck even for the non-passholder, the event cost is less than a two-day ticket and you got all of this! Who is exhausted LOL? Who hasn't got enough and is going to the park tomorrow (well today LOL) and taking part in ERT?
-
How did he get that many rides in at CoasterStock
-
Wait, is this an add-on to the itinerary Is it like a scavenger hunt or something. I guess I better look around for a lost pass LOL. He probably dropped it at the Rivertown FS taking a picture for @King Ding Dong so that is where I will be LOL

When was security (metal detectors) introduced to KI/Chain?
disco2000 replied to MisterSG1's topic in Kings Island
Nope, Paramount added them at KI in early 2000's partly in response to 9/11 events. Then at some point they were removed, brought back again, removed, then spot checks, and then brought back "permanent" around 2017 season. Or something like that LOL. The original ones were more "permanent" looking than the current edition. Here are some older threads confirming they have been here more than the past few years and at least back to 2003... -
Knott's Drive By Shooting
disco2000 replied to disco2000's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Yep, this new normal in society is not good! People have forgot how to interact with others. No place is immune from it. -
Conflicting reports as to how close it was to the park. Some reports have said near entrance and others have said parking lot or nearby, but close enough that the park had to take action. https://www.google.com/amp/s/abc7.com/amp/knotts-berry-farm-drive-by-shooting-teens-wounded-buena-park-police/10877124/

How sure are you that we are getting Haunt this year?
disco2000 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Does this make it official (although the article is simply referencing the previously posted above placeholders on the website)? https://www.wlwt.com/article/winterfest-halloween-haunt-will-return-to-kings-island-in-2021/36980692 I would put more stock into the article if it had a recent quote from a park rep. -

I have heard many reports of them not checking for reservations at Soak City at some point today due to the heat. So did everyone come prepared for a day at Soak City without knowing reservations were needed and benefited from them not checking or were there too many people coming off the train overwhelming the scanners and people were getting past them?

Um, where did I say it was Intamin's fault? Personally, I think if there was a belief it was the ride's fault, then all other similar rides would have been shut down as an abundance of caution, similar to how Drop Tower rides were shut down after the incident at KK, even Drop Tower rides like ours that was not the same design, and other examples we have seen from time to time. You inferred and put words in my post that I did not say. I was simply pointing out that the manufacturer was Intamin, as is our ride and it is another tragedy associated with that park and manufacturer whether we like it or not and regardless of where the fault lies. The first thing people would want to know is who made it and is it similar to ours, so I saved them the effort of researching it, even though the article that most probably will not read points out who the manufacturer was. No where did I say "Intamin's suck" or "Intamin is a death trap" or anything to that nature because we do not know at this point where the fault lies. I love Intamin rides as much as the next Intamin fanboy, and any death on any ride by any manufacturer or at any park is a tragedy, regardless of where the fault is. It was not intended as an Intamin bashing, so your assumption on my intent is inaccurate. I simply said "So sad. Another Intamin tragedy" - and all of that is accurate - whether it is operator error, maintenance error, park error, guest error, or ride manufacturer error, the fact of the matter is it is an Intamin ride regardless of who was at fault and it is another tragedy (2nd death on this ride at this park) nonetheless and it is sad for all involved, especially for the family, but it is sad for the park, the employees that were working the ride at the time, the manufacturer, etc. Even if it is determined to be guest error, people will associate it with the manufacturer and park regardless. Just like how B&M is mentioned in most news articles or other websites about park deaths regarding the Raptor death even though that was clearly guest error - that death was clearly guest error, but it unfortunately still counts as a death at Cedar Point and associated with a B&M coaster and most of us agree that it wasn't B&Ms fault, but I do remember people at the time saying they should have made the fence taller, electrified it, barbed wired it, more signage, etc., but no matter how idiot-proof you try to make something, someone will prove you wrong. I meant nothing more and you have read more into it than my 3 word sentence intended. And people wonder why I write books here.....

Apparently the crowds went to KI today
-
Yep, be glad KI has mostly their operating hours back! We mostly had a season last year and mostly this year, and some of the parks didn't open during regular season (or at all) and have greatly reduced schedules this year: Kings Dominion hours this year are 11am to 7pm and Soak City noon-6pm. They will stay open until 8pm during Grand Carnivale but no Carnivale on Tuesdays during its run. Carowinds hours this year are 11am to 8pm and Soak City is now noon-6pm - up until last week they were closing at 4pm. They will extend the hours by an hour during Grand Carnivale. Dorney doesn't open on Mondays and Tuesdays (closed today the official observed holiday) and its hours are 11am-7pm with water park 11am to 6pm. Cedar Point was closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays up until last week of June with 8pm closes. There hours are mostly restored now 10am to 10pm with water park 1aam to 6pm. Michigan's is closed Tuesday and Wednesdays and its hours are 11am to 7pm and waterpark noon to 6pm. Worlds of Fun is closed Tuesday and Wednesdays are 11am to 7pm and waterpark noon to 6pm. They will stay open until 9pm during Grand Carnivale and be open Tue and Wed during the event. Knott's basically has their normal hours - 10am to 10pm, waterpark 10am to 7pm. Wonderland has passholder preview today and tomorrow and most of the month hours are 10am to 8pm and waterpark 12pm to 6pm. They will extend hours to 10pm on July 24th. ValleyFair is closed Tuesday and Wednesdays are 11am to 7pm and waterpark 11:30am to 6:30pm. They will stay open until 9pm during Grand Carnivale but still remained closed Tuesday and Wednesdays during its run. California's Great Adventure is closed Tuesday and Wednesdays are 11am to 7pm and waterpark noon to 6pm. They will stay open until 9pm on Saturday and Sundays.

Grand Carnivale - July 17 - August 1
disco2000 replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Thought you were teasing Christmas in July like we had before Winterfest 3.0 was announced -
Be glad KI has mostly their operating hours back! It is unfortunate there were issues with our fireworks display last night, but it could have been worse from a guest perspective. Kings Dominion hours this year are 11am to 7pm and Soak City noon-6pm. They did fireworks yesterday and will today at close. Yes fireworks at 7pm. Someone was nice enough to post the 7pm show to Youtube. It is about as you would expect LOL. And hee haw y'all, Coney Mall is no longer country. 70s classic rock or Racer Radio vibes
