  1. Why? It is one private entity selling property to another private entity and the township approval is not needed as the zoning will not have to change. This is simply Anderson Township posturing to not look like a bad guy regarding a historical park disappearing. Further, Kellogg is a state road, so other than the new owner wanting to be a "good neighbor" to the community, the township really doesn't have any say in the matter. All building permits will be through the County. Anderson Township can simply sit back and get their share of the increased tax base coming from this, all the while playing the victim card and not wanting to see history removed if that is the route they decide to take. Or they may decide to embrace it and welcome the new addition and additional revenue that comes from it.
  2. Yeah but the "accidental" rollback is what made it special. Lot's of rides have intentional backwards elements. And how quickly it went from 0-120mph was the whole point. Not many opportunities to accelerate that quick, that fast. Tesla and many vehicles can probably accelerate as fast as TT2 will LOL. I am sure it will have long lines and what not, but I doubt on a vacant piece of land they would have came up with this ride as the next new ride....
  3. Yep. There are people that will buy anything the park sells...
  4. What were the circumstances of the one that you signed that worked? While there are always some things that this could be beneficial, as someone else pointed out, these are rarely successful. If the government were to step in, then they would need to fund it because it isn't fair to a property owner to be forced to lose money just to keep land as is for historical purposes. Given its location, it doesn't meet the other criteria that would encourage them to get involved. Further, the property is part in the City of Cincinnati and part in Anderson Township. If you extend Sutton Ave to the Ohio River, everything on the lake side is the City side. So Moonlite Gardens is on City side while Sunlight pool is on the Anderson Township side. That would further muddy up the situation. Unless another organization can come up with the asking price or the public backlash is soo strong that the purchaser decides to back out, this will continue. It goes along with my theory of why they slowly let this property get to this situation - if they did it when Coney was in full capacity, the backlash may have scared the potential buyer away. The hope is that since it was basically just a pool at this point that any backlash would be small background noise that wouldn't scare off the buyer.
  5. And now there is a petition to save Coney.... And they put down elected officials as the decision makers LOL. Nope it is one private property owner selling it to another private property owner (owner being a company in this case instead of the government). https://www.change.org/p/stop-cement-fill-in-turn-coney-island-s-pool-into-a-historical-landmark
  6. Just don't contract it out to CF to manage the VIP
  7. True. Many didn't expect it to last this long once the "move" was made to KI.
  8. True, and yet people on FB are saying they will boycott the new facility for eliminating the historic venue. These voices would have been multiplied many times over had they simply went this route in 2019. Could the backlash and uproar back then been large enough to cause a buyer to back out of the purchase? Things like that happen all the time. So I think they simply went down a path to help clear the way for a future sale. I am not saying that my reasoning was the sole factor, but I think they saw that this land was going to be more valuable in the future as something else, so similar to your crappy motel analogy, they started cutting back to make that happen and make it attractive to the future buyer, all the while probably able to put a few more bucks in their pockets. The land is a lot more attractive to the buyer now than it would have been with all the rides...Sure the new buyers could offload it, but they don't want to deal with that. The same reason why a house flipper can go in and do $30,000 in improvements and sell the house for $100,000 more. Now whether these "boycotters" amount to anything significant is slim to none. So either this was the plan, or the owners were that stupid to think that eliminating the rides wouldn't impact company picnics. Like you said, not many want to see their co-workers in a bathing suit LOL
  9. Filled in and bulldozed over I would expect.
  10. Is anyone surprised at this point? I said this back in 2020 in this post and it is showing to probably be what was happening behind the scenes: I have said this before to people back when Coney made the announcement - I think the ownership believes that the land is/will be worth more as something else and that was the first step towards that goal. Could you imagine the immediate outrage if they had said they were eliminating the rides and building a second concert venue...or a casino...or make it a parking lot. This allows them to gracefully move to that transition. Then they will use the ole "Our market research showed that we could survive on just the water park and that rides were not a big attraction. Unfortunately consumer spending habits have changed and we have had to make the unfortunate decision to ...." At some point, the highest use value of land makes it more valuable as something else...look at several golf courses surrounding KI - as populations grew up there, the land became more valuable as something else than a golf course... I think there were other motivations for the closure... In other words, I think we all saw this coming once they removed the rides.
  11. Seating upgrades: https://www.fox19.com/2023/12/13/western-southern-open-announces-seating-upgrades/?fbclid=IwAR16n_JhT7hYsPX7-En3kjc9VjjPHM4IHvRIxPLtOTCZSj0LC0yoOeAhCt8
  12. CGA isn't under a management contract like Gilroy Gardens was. CGA is leasing/renting the land for CGA and all the rides are property of CF; whereas Gilroy is owned by another entity (city) and CF was managing/staffing it but didn't own any structures. Kinda like the contract KI had with Camp Cedar to manage/provide the staff.
  13. Obviously you must not be a member of many forums or FB pages - it is common practice for a NOOB with their first post or new post after a period of time to have it not show until approved by a moderator. It is how SPAM bots are detected. Look how many posts over on the Season Pass FB page that show up a day or two later and then the post doesn't make sense in time sequence. Oh and by the way, the person you were replying to in that thread is not a moderator or admin of this site....
  14. And just as you predicted, the comment is gone...but it also appears like the offending picture is gone as well.
  15. A little reorganization https://ir.cedarfair.com/news/news-details/2023/Cedar-Fair-Announces-Strategic-Changes-to-Its-Corporate-Leadership-Team/
  16. Can only do one - Ride The Racer or a Buc-ee's visit/sandwich? Maybe that should be in the this or that thread LOL
  17. If you visited 81 less times, you would have got some perks
  18. Normally he is in a tank top and shorts even on cold days like today. Maybe he figured dressing like everyone else would make him stick out less and not notice he isn't wearing shoes
  19. Not if you have the all-season cheese/condiment plan
  20. That article is from 2019 when they sucked and this quote says it all "a $2 hot dog buys you more goodwill than a 7-9 season ever could." In other words they were trying to keep ticket holders as further in the article it says "to even get into the stadium for a standard Falcons game without hitting the secondary market, you’ve got to pay for a Personal Seat License that runs from $500 for the highest levels to $45,000 for club levels. The Falcons don’t offer any single-game tickets for sale; everything’s controlled by those PSLs." Then the cost of the ticket is on top of that. Apparently selling $2 hot dogs will entice people to spend $45K for a PSL lol. And they said "from the Falcons’ perspective, you get them in the door and you can get them opening their wallet for pricier markups like merch." It is all a shell game and it is where do you put the mark-up. Would you rather KI charge $400 to get in for the day and then sell $2 hot dogs? If KI costs $45k just for the ability to buy a pass, I would hope the food is free Think about it at this stadium - people are paying $45,000 just for the ability to purchase seats for usually 8 games. Or even the cheap seats at $500 just for the ability to buy 8 tickets. So they make it up before you are even in the door. So they gouge you to get in and then when the season is in the tank, drop prices to try to encourage those same folks to renew PSLs. And then they benefitted from the tactic that people feel like they got a good deal on a hot dog, so they spend more than they planned to. As a side note, most football games are played on Sundays, and that stadium is home to a Chic-Fil-A, which is closed on Sundays....go figure LOL. Granted they still offer the $2 hot dog. But it is essentially the game CF plays - have a cheap gate and cheap meal plans and hope that entices people to spend more on other stuff. Plus, plenty of single day guests buy the $30ish daily meal plan and not fork out $15-20$ per meal. And many then will buy a snack or other merch because of said single day meal plan.
  21. Since when has any place like amusement parks or professional sports, circus, etc. had "reasonable" pricing? It is part of the supply and demand and park strategy. If it costs the same as going thru McD's (even though that pricing is starting to not be reasonable), then the food lines would be even longer. Lower food prices in the park would create a bigger demand for food. With that increased demand would come new supply (restaurants) to meet that demand. Then that potentially means space for a ride is now taken up by a food place. Do you want yet another food place or a new attraction? Would everyone be happy if The Vortex spot became a food place instead of a new coaster? The higher prices help balance out the demands. People are paying for the convenience of not having to leave the park.

  23. That is what weather apps and radar are for LOL
  24. What scoop you looking for LOL?
  25. OR maybe it had some significant improvements coming up that needed to be made now or soon and they figured it was time to just bite the bullet now and not risk CA telling them to shut it down in 12 years even if propane is cleaner - it isn't zero emissions and that is the CA goal, and made the switch to electric?
