  1. Most of it was still standing opening day, but demolition is also obvious.
  2. Yes, someone does, But, what will it cost the park if an apartment complex goes in, and then files complaints about noise and traffic? To me, and I am in no way an expert, it would seem an opportunity to expand an anchor park. Is this Cedar Point? No. Is there an opportunity to make it more of a destination? Yes. The Kings Island Inn, was such a place. Sadly, it's time came and went. IMO largely because it was so, large. When it was built it was one of a very few options. Now there are cheap hotels everywhere around the park. The only upscale choice being GWL, which is great, but priced out of some budgets. An intermediate priced hotel, with a few amenities could have done well. Especially with free transportation to and from the park. A Large pool, with a few slides would make it very attractive to non thrill seekers.
  3. there is a "forgot password" link on the log in screen
  4. “We have seen early-season strength across all aspects of our business, including season pass sales, hotel accommodations and group bookings.” Makes one wonder why they didn't pounce on a certain property across the street.

  6. POS systems, still cracks me up. Yes I'm juvenile at times
  7. But they may calculate your time of departure, and arrival and narrow it down to your location. Since we all know an unfavorable trip report, could be the sole cause for not achieving their attendance goals. And they have no other problems to worry with.
  8. Oh, he knew, snapping is not only possible, but encouraged on that set.
  9. * Rivertown *Vortex ( Arrow looper trains are the ....) * Banhsee * The Beast, Its NO lights, by far the best.
  10. We'll also be at KD in June, Saturday the 20th to be precise. Can't wait to ride I-305 again, and to get MrsNC on it. Any chance to see you there?

  12. No one? At least one poster here got very upset, much to his regret. A long talk with the food services manager followed. Trays, how simple is that?
  13. A great time was had, but food services was again, lacking. I started to give the play by play, but it turned into a novel.

If I never rode it again, I wouldn't care, But I'd hate to see it leave. All rides have meaning, for some.
  15. The removal of the water fall in Tower Gardens only made it more obvious how under utilized that space is *. If the restroom across from Hank's was relocated closer to the tower, there would be more than enough room for 2, maybe even 3 classic flats. A Trabant, a Roundup, and though there was never one there, to my memory, a Tilt-a-Whirl, or a Shooting Star or........... The Coney Mall area could then start at the path that goes that way, maybe change Hanks to a Skyline. It would truly mean the end of Oktoberfest, but it seems that's a done deal. Vikings Fury, and Adventure Express don't really scream German to me anyway. Rebranding those 2 could be problematic. * Yes, even a dreaded smoker can see this.
  16. When we visited Carowinds a couple weeks ago, Intimidator was indeed stacking through most of our time in line. Then, a "driver" change resulted in chatter over her mic, informing the crew of where trains where, and that a stack was imminent. Her motivational skills must be great, the change in the crew was immediate. They did nothing different, but they hustled for her. Stacking went from every train to no more than once every 4 or 5 cycles. At wich point she would only say, " We are now stacked, this train needs to leave." Pride in workmanship can go a long way. As I said, they did nothing different, all restraints got checked, just at a faster pace. Was she possibly a supervisor? I don't know, but I know they went from going through the motions, to getting the job done. I will say, though we didn't ride Diamonback after ERT, during that time there seemed to be a conscious effort to have some hustle to dispatch. I hope it is contagious, and this crew gets in a groove that was sorely missed last season.
  17. After beating up the "old" set at Carowinds a couple weeks ago, these are not nearly the same. That said, with practice, and preferably about 30 more seconds on the ride cycle, I think these could be fun. I did manage a couple of what I'd call mini-snaps, enough to make me want to continue the hunt,
  18. I noticed while standing in line for Banshee, the trims are gone. Just 8 bolt holes where it used to reside.
  19. How romantic was this guard? Did he whisper in your ear?
  20. ^We obviously had different experiences. Depending on "Tops" mood, a "nice run", could be anywhere between 2 and 10 miles. 2 miles not bad, 10 exhausting.
  21. Fury 325 is the only reason I would consider Carowinds, over KD. Having only 1 ride on Fury 325 while we were there, makes me want to ride it more, but I still think if I had to choose, I'd choose KD. As Rustbucket already mentioned, Volcano is an experience not to be missed, as well as I 305. KD is much prettier as well, IMO. Both parks have some of the friendliest staff I've had the pleasure of talking to. In the end the choice you'll have to make, is if the big shiny new B&M is enough to draw you there. I'm guessing it's why they built it ;-).
  22. Ours worked perfectly, even the added on dining plan had no issues.
  23. Sorry we didn't see you there!! We spent Friday afternoon - closing, and Saturday opening-4 pm there. Only got 1 ride on Fury, and agreed, it did not disappoint. Wonderful coaster, the first turn, and the dive into the tunnel after the turn around are our favorite elements, well and of course, that drop!! Got in line at the rope drop for ERT, but had to wait an hour and 1/2 due to high winds, Hung out in line with Rustbucket, his son, and DropZone4Ever while waiting for the wind to die down. Rode the second train of the day. Great to meet fellow KIC members by accident, and pass the time while we waited.
