DC Comics coming to Cedar Fair Parks?
Tr0y replied to Beasttamer's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
This won't happen. Cedar Fair wouldn't even keep Nickelodeon Universe, and if I'm not mistaken. They rethemed Nickelodeon Universe to Planet Snoopy prior to the license agreement ending. The agreement also had options for extension. Which they also did not pick up. I think that was a mistake on CF's end, but given the person in charge at the time it's no surprise. -
The Great Pumpkin Coaster: Pumpkin Patch (thoughts)
Tr0y replied to SingleRiderAfter1's topic in KI Polls
Great idea, tho pumpkins can be a bit tricky to grow properly. I used to grow them in the backyard with leftover seeds after making jack-o-lanterns -

I will admit, the only reason I voted to bring back SOB was because I missed my opportunity to ride it. I had the height but not the guts.

Proper management and marketing and some capital could easily revive winterfest as year round event. But I doubt the park wants to deal with a event during the offseason. I believe Kings Island could pull it off, but I'm not to certain with Carowinds

Because you'll be in too much pain to care. My fiancee and I rode last seat based on someone's suggestion we were chatting with in line...we both carried bruises for a few days (not exaggerating). I suspect that was not recently. Last year and this year, I would contend that the very back seat on The Beast has been smoother than any seat on The Racer. I sometimes fear as if The Racer may be on its way out. Carrowinds removed Thunder Road, and King Island removed the Coney mall sign. Also when was the last time The Racer received massive track work like The Beast?

Last two questions were very difficult.

Full blast fountains are no fun on a windy day, especially when one is trying to enjoy cardboard pizza.
-
Take a ride in the very backseat of The Beast, you won't even notice you have a seatbelt on.

It could be worse.

Iron Dragon would make a great candidate for spare parts.

The new haunt entrance is a really nice touch. I don't think it would look good come the regular 2016 season, It doesn't really give off an international street feel to it. They could easily give the current entrance an international street, facelift without actually having to build a new entrance.

Maze of Madness at 2001's FearFest was initially to be known as "The Morgue", prior to sensitivity concerns. If you're looking at more examples of Halloween events changing attractions/displays over public response, I typed-up a lot of them a year ago: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/30234-busch-gardens-does-away-with-severed-head-display/page-2#entry652707 Edit - And from this year, Universal Studios Hollywood removed a "darnation Army" sign from one of its attractions, supposedly after complaints. "sensitivity concerns" I.E. Political correctness.

The Hulk layout redesign may be due to the new style of trains it may be receiving.

I have my goal set to be walking with a brace by the end of this week. I've read up on the park rules with braces. My brace goes down 3/4 of my leg. According to KI's website it must not be a knee restrictive brace. Now the kicker is that brace will allow me to bend my leg up 110 degrees towards my body. ( once unlocked when I start walking. that is more than enough to sit down, sitting requires 90.) Is that enough range of motion to qualify as non -restrictive? The park rules also state the brace has to fit with the restraints. So FoF an Firehawk are out for the remainder of the year, due to the shin bars. Just to give you a idea. Here is a photo of myself with the brace on, pre-surgery. Below:

What ticks me off is when you get that one person with a cell phone out, turn the flashligh on during a night ride on The Beast. If someone ever does that while sitting in front of me, I will be ripping it out of their hands.

...at very high expense which most regional, seasonal parks and chains cannot afford or justify from a business perspective. Universal can do it because they are a major year-round tourist destination with way, way higher revenue than a Kings Island or other similarly-situated park. They spent a quarter of a billion dollars on the Harry Potter expansion that opened last year. Kings Island's largest investment to date into building a single attraction is less than 10% of that. That oughta give you a bit of a clue as to their relative budgets and spending capability. Tell that to this guy.

Like I've said before, steel coasters can be retracked.

The great news out of this article is that KK will be opening for the 2016 season. As far as food goes it's probably on par with KK's competitor in Mason Ohio.

"No boo" necklaces shouldn't be allowed, or recognized within mazes.

Now I wonder if track will also join that pile. B&M launch system?
