August 29, 201312 yr Is Wicked Twister a coaster? What about Invertigo? Just because it isn't full circuit doesn't mean it isn't a coaster, IMHO.
August 29, 201312 yr KI says yes. CP has yet to definitively answer. RCDB isn't an authority on what is and isn't a "coaster". This question has been pondered rather thoroughly in the past: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/23549-should-surf-dog-be-considered-a-coaster
August 29, 201312 yr This has been a long debate here on KIC. KI and the state of Ohio consider it a coaster. I consider it a coaster, but also see why it can be considered a flat as well. I don't feel either answer is wrong for both arguments fit and are valid.
August 29, 201312 yr Does Surf Dog coast, or does it "drive" along its track? Does it matter? I think it's a FRALAC. I probably just made that up. It stands for Flat Ride Acting Like A Coaster. I am now running for the door. Good day.
August 29, 201312 yr In my eyes, No. It's a much better flat than it's a coaster, so call it a flat or don't, I could care very little.
August 29, 201312 yr I've emailed rcdb a few months ago, they say no. But Kings Island (and apparently Cedar Point) said yes
August 29, 201312 yr Like I said in the other topic if the power gets cut the ride comes to a stop. It's more of a flat ride and you have to call the log flume a coaster also if you would count surf dog. Cedar Point could have called Demom Drop a coaster It had a lift hill and track.
August 29, 201312 yr Then how come CP doesn't consider their new version of this a coaster? I stick to my own interpretations at this point and I say no. Its powered all the way through and doesn't rely on gravity. I don't consider powered 'coasters' as true roller coasters either, unless there are major drops and have some sort of gravity powered section in them like Blazing Fury at Dollywood.
August 29, 201312 yr Same poll seen here from 2011: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/23549-should-surf-dog-be-considered-a-coaster/?hl=surf Remember: search feature is your friend.

August 29, 201312 yr Its quite simple, the park says its a coaster, so there for its a coaster... but wait, there's more... the rides manufacturer currently lists a very similar ride: http://www.zamperla.com/en/zamperla-details-rollercoaster-disko_coaster Under its coaster section, there for it must be a coaster. browntggr, I doubt search would have helped him much. The only reason he created this was b/c Six Flags claims one of their parks is going to install a record 4th coaster in its kids area, while a park he loves to bash already claims to have 4. Search doesn't help much when your mission in life is to troll. At the end of the day, call it what you like. My wife and son love to call it fun. Personally I call it "I'm not riding it twice in a row for fear of getting sick, but that 1 trip is a lot of fun"
August 29, 201312 yr Author How is it trolling when more people says it not? I made a poll because there was a question if it is or its not.
August 29, 201312 yr Author In Kinzel's day if CP and Magic Mountain were tied, then CP would boast it had the most coasters.
August 29, 201312 yr Six Flags apparently does not consider Surf Dog a coaster: https://content.sixflags.com/comingin2014/magicmountain/kids-area-expansion/
August 29, 201312 yr In Kinzel's day if CP and Magic Mountain were tied, then CP would boast it had the most coasters. You would most likely be right on with that one! Classification aside, my son and I love to ride Surf Dog together. At the end of the day that is all that really matters!
August 29, 201312 yr This has a coaster track: Surf dawg does not: Actually, I think that is coaster track. It's just a very unusual type. If you look closely, I think you will find that's is quite similar to the track in the above picture.
August 29, 201312 yr Is this a roller coaster? Okay, how about this one? And, what if you make it a little smaller? And add a hump in the middle? Now a little smaller than that? Where is the line drawn? When does it become "not a roller coaster?" Yeah, this.
August 29, 201312 yr The poll is "Is Surf Dog Considered a Coaster?" I clicked yes because KI considers it to be one. Do I consider it one? Probably not, but I don't care.
August 29, 201312 yr Kings Island needs to add a simple launched coaster (not Surf Dog) to the Kids zone soon: But in all honesty surf dog is a coaster just one mans opinion though:
August 31, 201312 yr Maybe when Kings Island talks about Planet Snoopy having 4 rollercoasters, maybe they are referring to Woodstock's Whirlybirds.
August 31, 201312 yr Whirlybirds should be considered a coaster too? I mean its a car on a track... technically Drop Towers can be rollercoaster too, they have a vehicle that is fixed to a support structure that is traverses on...
May 6, 20179 yr See, that(referring to Arthur above)'s really hard to tell; I would have called it a dark ride (and not a coaster) up until that outdoor portion, then it becomes a coaster (so, I'd say it's a coaster credit). As for Surf Dog, I don't personally consider it a coaster. However, it's a weird categorization thing as I don't consider Disko's or drop rides like Demon Drop/Drop Tower coasters, but I do consider rides like Wicked Twister, Invertigo and Superman: Escape from Krypton (SFMM) to be roller coasters. EDIT: See, the interesting thing is that when Surf Dog was first known about (I think this was when it was announced and under construction, I'm not sure), RCDB briefly considered it a coaster, and then took that entry offline later on.

It acts like a coaster, and when powered coasts like a roller coaster. It sometimes valleys like a coaster, so why isn't it called a coaster?
May 7, 20179 yr Per Don, Zamperla considers it a coaster, so the park considers it a coaster as well.
