Monster appears to be retired ?

As of today at 0824HRS, Monster appears to still be in pieces surrounded by the blue construction fence. I'd say refurbishment, but it really would be nice to receive an official statement from the park itself seeing as pass holder/park opening are happening in a matter of days.

That description is remarkably blunt! I thought it was another fabrication when I first saw it, but now I can see it's real. Very interesting to see this considering the lack of other communications from the park. Link to the park website below for the source.

I for one am glad and very appreciative of the clarification. Even something as simple as two sentences, they stated why the delay of assembly and I'm glad the park was able to help remedy the rumor situation. Also shows that the park is willing to go the extra mile to keep some of these historic rides going, even if it takes a little longer than they anticipated.

Glad to see they are making the effort to keep this classic running strong for awhile. They could have easily just decided to do away with it and scrap it, but I am really glad they have made the decision to invest in keeping it around. Having a mix of classic and modern rides just gives a park a sense of respect for the past and appreciation for the tech we have today.

Yes, although it seems that individual might have actually been harassing the park by contacting guest services far too much asking about rumors and speculation. He is also the one who impersonated the park/falsified a guest services email to say that Monster had been permanently retired. An outright 1-year ban and restriction on who he can contact at the park may have been the easiest way to stop him. They also refunded his Haunted Attractions Pass. I believe the Ejection Notice can be found in the Random Photo of the Day topic and in a few subreddits (posted around late August).

I don't think any news media would get banned unless they were calling super often to confirm or deny wild speculation. Most good news media wouldn't want to damage the remaining relations they have with Six Flags and probably would know that they shouldn't harass the park in the first place.

The fence around Monster had some posters (poorly) attached to it near the end of August. All of the arms have been removed from the ride pad, but the queue line, op booth and sign, and the rest of the ride is still there behind the fence. I think this would be the perfect time for the park to go through and at least check everything again before they reassemble the ride. Maybe even give it a new coat of paint and fix some of the lights that have been sitting out in the sun all summer. If they're quick it could be back up and running sometime during Haunt. If they're taking their sweet time with it, I'd guess it will be back next season.

Yeah harassing the park and faking emails is definitely an issue... Don't blame the park there

I hope that if they're not going to run it for haunt that they do take time to give it the proper treatment and get everything fixed on it so that it's good to go for a few years without anything major. I do think that a new color scheme might be cool. I mean black is classic but I do wonder if adding a second color on the pods could look nice.

Even adding a little dark gray accent to each part might look better than black. If they replace all of the lightbulbs with new ones I really hope they go with some nice warm white bulbs, and not try to "upgrade" the lighting package and add colorful LEDs. One of the cool things about areas like Coney Mall is the fact that the classic amusements have a classic look. It's one of the reasons why I hope The Vortex replacement has a lift hill with chaser lights instead of a solid LED bar like Fury 325, Orion, and Raptor have.

Activity around the Monster this morning.  No sight of the arms back yet, but movement none the less.

As in they are working around the base? What type of activity are we talking about? I wouldn't think they would attempt to get it running this year at this point

They are working around the base as well as 6 square black pieces of metal.  You can see it from the Orion webcam.  Plus there was a trick and a van parked there this am.  My guess is they may have it ready for next weekend (Columbus day weekend) since it will be the busiest days of the fall seaon.

That is a bit of a stretch. They would need to put it together and test it a certain amount of times, get it certified by the state, then train the supervisors/managers, THEN get the crew trained which would honestly be a bit of a hassle as half of Coney Mall crew wise was completely changed up. For those who don't know ride ops at Monster were paired with Scrambler and Dodgem and both of those rides were on different crews this year so undoing all that and getting the ride ops cross trained with just a few weekends to go would be a bit of a task.

Glad this Coney classic still has life in it! Only ride at the park I’ve never been on. I’m not crazy on spinning, but wanna take my kid on it when’s she’s tall enough. Might’ve been easier to just ditch this one given the state of the chain currently. We’re lucky. Brand new revival of a classic dark ride next year and continued dedication to keeping things running. Can’t complain when other parks are experiencing some intense merger growing pains.
