Of course they cut down the trees around the entrance   This chain is incapable of building anything new and preserving the trees.     KI continues to have less trees every season.

Granted, we haven’t seen the entrance in its entirety yet, but I can’t imagine why they’d have to remove the trees they did, here.

Because they moved heavy machinery in there and didn't use small man and machinery crews so work on the exterior of the building. They did it as fast and a cheaply as they could which probably includes ripping out trees that are in the way. I know the Cincinnati Zoo gets quoted higher prices by construction companies when they mandate that certain large shade trees must be saved during the construction process

Do you think Phantom Theater is testing yet? The park has about 10 days left to get it tested and commissioned, so I'd assume they will start soon if they haven't yet. I wonder how much of the testing is getting the vehicles and animatronics moving again and how much of it is getting people in the cars to test out the flashlights. It would be interesting to know if they get enough people to fill the ride to capacity and test it or if the first time it'll be at capacity will be on the 17th. The promotional photoshoot could be one of those times to get everything tested and working as well.

I cannot imagine a ride of this scope and complexity hasn't been testing already for some time now.

A ride like this is almost certainly going to be considerably more complex compared to any roller coaster, at least from a controls perspective. And as the controls system complexity increases, so too do the number of potential failure modes, etc. All of that takes time to work through.

Looks like media day is scheduled for next Thursday, April 16th.

Check out the video on Instagram

Looks like the park sent media outlets a “trunk” with a flashlight that can be used to reveal a hidden message within the box. Unfortunately, looks like the flashlight in this video doesn’t work. Ha. Hopefully not a sign of things to come. They also included a ticket that references the opening years of each version of the ride.

The box itself features some throwback character images and Easter eggs. “Ship to Bosco” is a fun throwback. Hoping we see him in the ride, if he ever got that dressing room door open. Haha. The “Haunted Theater” was the original concept/name the park came up with before R&R got on the project, if I remember correctly.

Happy to take one of these off someone’s hands…

When was the last time we saw a media preview package like this? Orion's announcement? This is cool to see.

Mystic Timbers

Orion had the "top secret box" with the old ride posters that were used in the campaign that they sent out to the media before the announcement.

A lot of love going into this one!

That's what happens when you have someone running the PR who sorta "gets it" (Tony Clark). Now if only they would try and restore relationships with the fansites that were sorta pushed out over the last few years when (you know who) was running the show.

The ride posters when posted on the construction fence had the wrong stats because someone didn’t bother to ask someone if they were right.

Is that one someone someone we know well?

Owen Varga on the KI Season Pass Holders group on Facebook shared his media package and here's what he said about the secret message:

Quote

I was hoping someone would ask! The camera doesn’t really pick up on it since it’s very hidden but it says, “Your seat is waiting, be the first to see our cast of characters and help me capture the ghost notes before the curtain rises.”

May be an image of snake, xray and text

I think it's probably better viewed in person, but either way it's a nice little media package!

I really love the packaging of the invite box. If there’s any merch that requires packaging (doubtful for this season but there’s some cool merch opportunities with this) I hope they use a similar aesthetic. The Haunted Theater logo is a deep cut, I wonder if that’s concept art from the 1992 ride.

I hope they really milk the hell out of this ride with merchandise ,it would be cool to have a Maestro talking Christmas ornament to compliment my haunted mansion Christmas ornament

I will be upset if I get to the park next week (:)!!!) and they aren’t selling plushies of the characters. Also figures and a flashlight toy and other unique stuff like that.

Also hats as well! I am confident that the ride is going to do fantastic and we will see merch of all sorts. Side note I wonder why there wasn't much merchandise (if any) of the original Phantom Theater ride? (Well at least from what I remember.)

I saw a tweet that claimed [almost] nobody from the Cincinnati area has been invited to the Media Day preview: is that true? I'm not going to put much stock into it, but I've also only seen a few content creators with the invitation boxes — none of whom live in the tri-state area. The first person I saw with one was Marcus LeShock, the newscaster from Chicago; then I saw Kerney-cation, who live in Cleveland; and then I saw Jonny Amusements, who lives in the Sevierville area near Dollywood.

Would it be normal to send one of these packages to local news agencies? It's been so long since they've done this and I can't remember what happened with the Mystic Timbers packages.

New small look from KI’s instagram story which confirms there is a built in extended queue (which I hate short term because I am dreading any long wait times) but I know that the Boo Blaster’s queue did spill out frequently during the busier days, so this should save the employees from having to bring out temporary barriers.

A little disappointed they're still keeping the stone bridge. Sorry, but this is a THEATER not a CASTLE. Name me a theater/opera house that has a castle bridge.

Honestly, I don't really care if it looks like a castle or a theater. I do kinda wish they changed up the front a little besides some new paint and exterior details. But as long as the inside of the ride is good, the exterior doesn't really matter to me. And the GP will just see an abandoned/creepy building and think it's cool. The actual ride experience is what really matters.

But I will say I really do like the new look of the castle/theater facade entrance! I like the maroon-ish color. Can't wait to ride this!!!

It looks like they've also been adding some more weathering to the facade! I appreciate that they did more than just changing out the windows (as happened with the conversion to Boo Blasters). I'm not terribly upset by the lack of more structural changes considering whatever might've replaced the castle could've had the same goofy look with a different shape. I wonder what they're hiding in the entry portal besides the No-Legs Larry Drama Masks and the rest of the repainted facade? Maybe a new marquee or a special surprise? The staircase was counted as one of the "scenes" on the plans that we got from the city of Mason.

The semi-permanent extended queue will be really helpful and looks so much better than what the park normally does. Even the Fast Lane line looks like it has a little bit of extended queue! That's probably not as good for the standby line, but hopefully the priority ratio is handled well.

Man. Looking better and better with every new glimpse we get. Loved getting a few glimpses at some yet to be seen, new versions of old characters. Gonna be a long week.

Few screen grabs. Some clearer images of things we’ve kind of seen. Some new. Obviously spoilers, but nothing too crazy.
