Never take anything for granted. This time last year, The Wildcat at Cedar Point was a given for 2012. Crews were even hired for it. The NJ Great American Scream Machine closed very quickly. Enjoy what you can, while you can.4 points

I feel whether you love or hate this ride, The Vortex is an iconic coaster in the park and everyone who has been attending since it was built knows it. I for one am a fan of the ride. Sure it has given me some jarring experiences, but it has also given me some fantastic ones too. I more or less have countless memories on it too. I will miss this coaster whenever it is that it meets its demise, but for now I am not worried about it because it still stands and I know I will have more chances at getting more rides on it this upcoming season.4 points

A very nice video. I wonder what thing they are going to do to the fountains? I`m thinking maybe some sort of new lighting package that is synchronized to music. It was very nice hearing Rob Decker talk. Being in the design profession, it has always been my dream to get the chance to work on amusement park projects. I have had the honor to actually get to work on a coupe amusement parks over the years. It is truly amazing (and no, I can`t reveal what projects I worked on, but it was really rewarding getting to work on them. Someday I wish to eventually work for a park chain. That would be an ultimate dream job! Its interesting they went with every park and reviewed the attraction installs in the last 7 years and determined how they were received and what shortcomings the parks had. I wonder what shortcomings they determined Kings Island had. And they also said that 2014 additions are already set with most of 2015 set as well. I can`t wait to see what we have in store at Kings Island!3 points

I love Blue Streak! People who dont know CP seem to skip it,they dont know what their missing.Greatly under appreciated in my opinion!3 points

I really hope they can make a way for Vortex to stay. Yes it's bumpy in some spots, but it's part of Kings Islands skyline of roller coasters. Every park has to have some kind of ride to grow old with too. For example, next year at Cedar Point, Blue Streak will turn 50 years old!3 points

If anything the monster the currently exists could be a mix of 2 or more models combined into one. The Monster that use to reside at Canada's Wonderland was shipped to KI within the last 10 years. And has surely became a parts donor.3 points

Within hours after the last day of the season preparations begin for the next season in each department. Sometimes you'd like to have more time, but we're always ready to go when the bell rings on Opening Day. Pizza and fresh-cut thick fries are my favorite food items but some of the menu items that were added last year like the cheese steaks at the Snake Pit in Rivertown and the Italian Sausage that was out in Soak City are knocking at the door. There was a time when a hot dog with chili and a large Mello Yellow from the Lunch Basket (now Skyline Chili) in Coney Mall was what I had every visit.3 points

Well, good morning everyone. I was just playing Majora's Mask on my N64 and came back to... this. What the hell guys? Go to your corners for a time out. I was gone for a few hours and look what happened. This was not what I expected after beating the Woodfall temple (again more Majoras Mask stuff). Did you all really think I was leaving the site for good? I will admit, what I said in my post before this I was 100% genuine, I was done. Was I done for good? No. I was just done for the night. Yes, Terps post about "uncle crying" put me on edge because UncleHenry happens to be a very good friend of mine who I have known since 2005 and was nice enough to allow me to stay at his place this past November while I was in LA and take me to all the local parks, he even took a day off work to allow time for that. He even showed me around the city and brought me to the famous Hollywood sign. So yeah, I was a little upset my Terps comment. Many times I am annoyed by some posts many of you make on this site, but lets be honest, who at one point or another isn't put on edge by someone else's post? We all need to realize that this community is made up of different people of different opinions and ages. Yeah, johnnyilikecoasters (made up user I came up with to make a point) may be a eccentric fanboy who dislikes anyone who talks badly about the park, and I'll be honest, someone like me will probably avoid talking with a user like that and dislike most of what you say. That's why I use the block feature (it's there people, use it! It will make your time on this forum oh so much nicer). Now, I really don't feel like going into a multi-paragraph speech about what we can all learn from what happened. Plus. I REALLY need to get back to collecting more masks in the game (again, Majora's Mask), the 72 hours is almost up and the moon is about to crash. While I save the land from certain destruction, why don't we take this time to start over. Hi, I'm Captain Nemo! You guys ever been to this park called Kings Island? It's pretty legit. Edit: Well, I forgot to pause my game and the moon crashed, Look what you did!3 points

I blame Thunder Alley for all of the problems on here because it was so bad.3 points

Did I miss something, or is Nemo really saying he's leaving the site because Terpy made a witty comment?3 points

I, for one, am thoroughly sick of classic flumes being 'upgraded' to drench the guests, be it by coconuts, elephants, beagles, geysers or fire hydrants. And I find Shoot the Rapids to be Cedar Point's most blunderbus addition since, perhaps, Mean Streak.2 points

Cool video! I love the more openness we are getting from CF now. Very excited to what Matt has up his sleeve for all the parks.2 points

I think that's half the enjoyment about roller coasters and or flat rides are their unique "personalities" they convey through their sounds they make. I love all of them! I will say I think Invetigo's cable lift mechanism almost reminds me of a nice purring sound and who can forget SoB's roaring chain dogs that demanded your attention from across the park? Oh and I love the Monster's multitude of sounds while gearing up. But back to the point...I won't be surprised the day poor Flight Deck meets the hacksaw. I love the spunky little suspended coaster and appreciate its historic significance as the last of its breed to be built, but I know ultimately historic value cannot always save a coaster from being dismantled *sigh*2 points

If you guys look closely in the background of the Thunder Alley Demolition photo, you can see one of Adventure Express' tunnels! That view definitely looks much different!2 points

I'm not sure where this has or hasn't been posted, I've been off the forums for a while, but this was on KI's Facebook page.2 points

I had a dream.... The whole Peanuts gang was chasing me through the park. They did not look happy2 points

Had a dream last nigh that I showed up at the park and it was opening day. I was with my wife, without the kids. I realized when we got there we forgot to renew our passes. (I do still need to get that done.) We got in a very short line to get them renewed, walked into the park to see Don greeting guests and I spoke to him for a few minutes. We stared to head into the park, but the park was not normal looking in the dream. (No fountains, no pavers, buildings gone - details must not have been important?) Anyway, we were making our way to Coney Mall and noticed a semi with all 3 Vortex trains on them. I asked my wife what she thought they were doing with them, for they looked like they were heading out of the park. They defiantly has not had any off season work done and looked pretty beat up. I do not remember by wife's response. I never rode any rides or met up with anyone before waking up from this dream.2 points

Hey, gonna say this once: 1) This is a topic about Thunder Alley 2) Discuss Thunder Alley or don't post about anything else here. ...Yes, it's that simple.2 points

It saddens me with conflict that we have sometimes. Thank god this doesn't happen often. Whoever a fault this is I don't care lets not play the blame game and let's get along. This shoos off potential new members because they see rifts in this community. Oh and please don't let this turn into tpr where quanty of posts, mod, or club tpr member means your respected while if your not you get treated like dirt. Thanks :/ Joshua2 points

I wonder what rides will be made available to gold/platinum pass members for ERT in 2013? I'm personally hoping for Diamondback! The previous sentences made for a good couple months of arguing last year. Wait for it........GO!! April 27th!!2 points

I personally have enjoyed the content added by everyone "involved", for lack of a better term. Nemo, please quit threatening to leave. I have always greatly enjoyed your presence here! Edit to add: I keep trying to figure a good way to say this. Henry, I took offense to your post because I had left this site before over the bickering and it Psst me off hearing a formerly active member saying that. KIC has given me much and I get annoyed at escalatory statements. I was all excited to see you posting again and then it was negative. Just a bummer for me.2 points

Complaining about what others post doesn't get you very far in a public discussion forum. Everyone has the right to post what they want, as long as they're following basic guidelines dealing with respect. As the conventional wisdom goes, if you don't like what's being posted, no one is forcing you to read it. There has been, and there continues to be, a great deal of good discussion and quality content posted here. However, you're not going to like every post. Other contributors here may annoy you, disagree with you, or otherwise not meet your desired level of post quality. And you should still respect their right to participate in this public community. Granted, some of the bantering here could understandably be frustrating, especially for the occasional reader. Most of us are always open to constructive criticism, so please do voice your frustrations in a positive way. After all, we do want new (and existing!) members to feel welcome and enjoy their time here. Popping in to drop criticism into a random thread solves nothing. I'll repeat what Terp wisely said: if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem. A cool head and a mild appreciation of dry humor can be helpful here. Wit and a bit of silliness, especially from Terp, is a deeply entrenched tradition. We're discussing an amusement park, after all. There are plenty of other places in life for seriousness and frustration.2 points

Now come in guys. Lets not be pointing fingers and arguing at everyone. Everyone helps and contributes to this site in their own way. If you do not like the way someone contributes than you could point it out politely. And it's definitively not worth leaving the site if you are just not a fan of one person.2 points

I think the offseason is going a bit to our heads. Perhaps it would be wise to take a deep breath while simultainously having cookies and milk. Just my two cents; whatever that'll buy me on this site. (Edit: Wow, 300th post.)2 points

Considering "Captain Nemo" spent 100's upon 100's of dollars renting a plane to get aerial photos of the park for this site, I'd consider that a major contribution. (Firehawk, IJST DB construction)2 points

Happy New Year to you, too. (If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem)2 points

Terpy, I don't know why, but I always get a kick out of your legal disclaimers.1 point

This matter is still in litigation. Unless the parties come to an amicable settlement, a court will ultimately decide the fate of the family business. It is my understanding Dan Koch is appealing. It seems a rather novel concept of law that because a party may have attempted to underpay in a buy/sell arrangement, the previously agreed to sale need not be consummated. That conclusion may not be supported on appeal. Terp, who adds there is no intent to advise any party in this transaction by virtue of this public Internet post. Consult a competent attorney in your jurisdiction if you have or think you may have a legal problem. You read my mind. I would also put a tunnel on Woodstock Express and rename it Beastie.1 point

True but I see many years of family rides coming to Cedar Point. I think a dark ride is very high on that list too. That is very true. I visited the park in 2010, before they purchased that extra land though. If you look at Carowindz on Google Earth, there is plenty of land to expand upon. It takes like 10 minutes just to drive to the entrance gates. (Maybe exaggerated a tad bit). I hope they do something about the water park, the entrance is located at the back of the park and is pretty much a cut out in a chain link fence.1 point

And that is saying something, considering that Kings Island`s fireworks usually last about five minutes give or take. That is a tradition that was started back at Coney Island when Arthur Rozzi first launched fireworks at Coney in 1931.1 point
-
You just listed one of the major reasons the ride needs a major upgrade; the guns. It seems half of the guns don't even work, and the ones that do typically have bad accuracy. An upgrade in guns would be major in and of itself. Could it be the only working thematic elements in Boo Blasters are black lights and painted cardboard? A larger and/or more mature audience might be drawn if the ride's thematic elements weren't so "cheap" looking and volatile in operation. As is, the ride isn't "worth it." If it were to get an update, even just a few more 3-dimensional objects and a couple new guns here and there, the whole experience would be so much better, at least for me.1 point

I think that would be perfect. Being the only Peanuts character with a signature visual effect, I don't think he'd lose recognizability in its absence. Of course I wouldn't put it past some of the ingenious costume designers to engineer some kind of nearly-invisible, springy wires holding up arcs of gray, fabric-coated "dust billows" that bounce randomly about the character as he/she walks about.1 point
