It has been quite awhile since posting on here, but my visit to KI has fueled the fire in my love for KI and amusement parks in general. I hope these photos will entertain a few people, or give spectators some views they have missed! This "trip report" will be of course VERY small and the phtos were all taken with an iPhone, but again hopefully a few will enjoy! Now on to the pictures! IMG_0438[1] by DamienConnelley, on Flickr Even though this photo does not do any justice, I love seeing the Eiffel Tower while driving down Tylersville rd. I think it really represents how much of an influence KI is on the area. IMG_0439[1] by DamienConnelley, on Flickr Since Invertigo is the most visually accessible coaster outside the gate, I took some easy shots. I'm still amazed at how much better Invertigo looks with the paint job from last season. IMG_0444[1] by DamienConnelley, on Flickr Another Invertigo photo from another angle. I was really hoping Invertigo would test while I was here today, it would've provided a lot better shots! IMG_0440[1] by DamienConnelley, on Flickr This was the shot I was most curious about. I find it very strange without SOB dominating here. It's definitely weird not having two hypercoasters flanking the park. IMG_0445[1] by DamienConnelley, on Flickr And just a quick photo of Diamondback, with Boo Blasters peeking through the beautiful trees. Thanks for viewing! I hope to start posting a lot more and start getting to know everyone better! Feel free to post your favorite photo points @ KI, I would love know! -Magm&MForce24/79 points

FOF is the best theme in its current state and its prime and as a bonus a great ride. AE comes in a far but still great second with using setting and the terrain to its advantage. BLST is by far my least favorite coaster in the park. The theme, the ride and the location are all poorly done and ruins the atmosphere for coney, I street and rivertown.5 points

I personally would like to see more Arrow. Obviously, that won't happen. So instead, I want a GCI, or an Intamin woodie. I like woodies, and I DON'T acknowledge Rocky Mountain Coasters as being wooden. So basically, we lost a mediocre-bad woodie (depending on who you ask) and I would like it replaced with a great woodie.5 points

Tweeted by Greg Scheid an hour ago: "Simple improvements can make major impacts. Back patio at Hanks." I'll miss the old wooden covering, but I like this, too. The old one felt like you were eating on a dock (appropriate for Outer Hanks' old menu), but this one will offer more interesting views of Viking Fury. I wonder what will become of Cut-Throat Cove during Haunt.5 points

That's how I felt last year. While we aren't getting anything big, it's nice to see things changing to make the park even better. When there's no new big attraction, it lets Kings Island focus on some minor things that need improvements. I hope they focus on Rivertown a little bit more. With all due respect to KI, I don't want to have to look at the old crypt building every time I go there and know its just being used just for haunt. It would be fine if the building was smaller but given its size, it sticks out like a sore thumb.4 points

I'd have to say Adventure Express! I'm all into the tropical coaster theme like Volcano at KD. Flight of Fear came in 2nd and BLSC came in dead last. One of the worst things paramount ever did was get rid of those great antique cars and the flying eagles for a crappy themed car ride.4 points

I kinda like not having a big attraction this season. I'll be so happy to walk around and see the "Cedar Fair" improvements to the park!3 points

Very well put. I went to Disney World when I was 9 or 10. Sounds like an ideal age to enjoy Disney, but I was like pshhhh I ride Vortex and The Beast, I am not impress with these kiddie rides. However I would like to see more individual area and ride theming. Adventure Express tunnells needs TLC badly!2 points

So I have some unfortunate news. Gray shirts will be $5 more on top of the original price because each shirt will required another layer of ink. Argh....2 points

Don't forget adding spitting elephants or dogs to the end of a relaxing flume, keeping Grandparents from joining on the ride if they don't want doused.2 points

I like the light grey myself if possible. Thanks so much for working on this LMHConcepts!2 points

Hey everyone! Name is Skyler, I have been riding since the late 80's. Been to Cedar Point over 100 times, I think, lol. Came over to Kings Island in 2011 and had a blast. Figured this year I would get a season pass. I live on the west side of Indy so it's not that bad of a drive. Since I don't have to work on Fridays I will be at the park every week. Not sure if you guys/gals to meetups like PointBuzz does but I figured if I am going all the time then I would try and meet up with some other fanatics. I'm sure i'll go during the week also as i'm working up to summer break for school. Thanks everyone, seems like a nice little community you have here. Glad that I could join. BTW, I know Cedar Point has a bunch of good coasters but Diamondback is one of my fav's. If you have to know, my top coaster is Gemini at Cedar Point. I have been on it so many times that I lost count. Love the helix at the end and the steel bar that makes you think it will take your hands off.1 point

I would really like for FoF to have a lightshow or laser-light feature going during the ride. I believe someone brought it up the other day on here...1 point

What if I were to choose other? Theme in a coaster doesn't exactly has the same implication as those on another end. For example, Diamondback, it has a western coaster station, and a western like gift shop, or possibly The Beast, it has a excellent background and theme to it. You really have to think about polls like this in various conclusions and ideas. So my vote? None of the above1 point

Flight of Fear. I just wish that the video short would be updated. I heard a rumor several years ago, that FoF would be re-themed as a Rock-n-roller coaster type attraction. Music pumping, light show and fog machines ect. I hope not. Just wish they would lay off the mid-course brakes just a bit.1 point

You guessed correctly. Dane's friend. Been doing the banners/graphics for the website for quite a while, just never really keep up with forums since I'm always working.1 point

I seriously have no idea who this guy is. I think he's Dane's friend. He does great work, though. haha I guess I should keep quiet.1 point

Sweet, good to know! I will be there too, and repping Coaster Crew for Media Day. Going up Wed night, staying for Media Day, staying Friday for OSU Day, and then leaving Saturday after ERT before the stupid-crowdedness commences.1 point

hahaha! I should note that I went to Disneyworld in 1975. I love those pokey bumper cars- it makes it easier to chase my guests.1 point

Sure, it has an attraction called "Renegade River" with water features that aren't so lazy, which a bit more lazy of a river called "Main Stream" which still has a bit of splashing to it.1 point

$5 more than what? Do we have an estimated price yet? Also, how will payment be arranged? Will we be using PayPal, credit cards, mailing checks, etc.?1 point

That is correct - but someday, some company will design a racing coaster with one side going backwards, and they'll brag like it's totally new concept that they thought of - forgetting poor King's Island and the coaster that re-ignited the interest in coasters, and the times once side of it traveled in reverse.1 point

Posted on Cedar Point's Facebook page today: "Good morning! Today's fun fact: Gatekeeper does NOT go backwards. ;)"1 point

And what is Mr. Hart's plan for Kentucky Kingdom? Who is that going to draw? As for Cedar Point: Paddlewheel Excursions? Disaster Transport? At Kings Island: Turnpike? Scooters? Terp, who likes to ask questions.1 point

Tower of Terror certainly doesn't mosey. Nor Mission Space. Nor Expedition Everest. Nor Rock N Roller Coaster. And I could go on. Meanwhile, the bumper cars at Kings Island? I'm not sure they go as fast as a moseyer.1 point

Even though I like theming, it's really not the center focus of a Midwestern park, in my opinion. Midwesterners like to Do things, not just see things. I think there will be more focus on the actual experience than the aesthetics. Besides, already there is more theming going on, with the removal of asphalt, the expanding of the beer garden, more dinosaurs, etc.. Seems like there is more gearing towards a place to be at, then just a place to look at. I love Disney. I loved looking around and seeing all the structures. Many of the rides I went on were designed as theatrical experiences. When I'm at KI I want the rush of practically flying through the trees on The Beast. I don't want to watch Peter Pan do it from the soft comfy viewpoint of a ride chair moseying along.1 point

Well, I've heard that..... 1 -The Vortex is sinking 2 - Numerous people died on The Bat 3 - the Eiffel Tower is gonna be moved across the highway to make room for other rides 4 - People were killed on Son of Beast 5 - Screamscape is credible 6 - The Dippin' dots guys know everything 7 - Almost every ride attendant has a relative that knows everything about the park's future feel free to add to my list!1 point

Kings Island: definitely rode all operating coasters and most flat rides at least once. Couldn't guesstimate the precise number on any of them except Invertigo and the Eiffel Tower, both of which I did once all year. (That's right, I said "operating" coasters... I know some of you wanted to jump in with "YOU DIDN'T RIDE Son of Beast HEHEHEHEH." Your plans have been foiled! ) Dollywood: Wild Eagle twice. Tennessee Tornado once. Mystery Mine once. Thunderhead (probably) five times. Don't think I rode Blazing Fury this year, and I don't know the names of the flats. There's a possibility I'll be back before the end of the year. Holiday World: Probably rode Voyage something up into the teens. Rode Raven and Legend a handful of times, with more rides on Legend than Raven. (Ordinarily I'd ride Raven more than Legend, but Legend was running ridiculously well back in June.) All adult flats (excluding Revolution, Turkey Whirl, and the scrambler) got about two laps each. Rode basically everything but the racing slides and Mammoth in Splashin' Safari. Six Flags Great Adventure: One ride on all coasters besides Skull Mountain, which we rode twice, and both kiddie coasters. Missed all flats besides the top spin and the parachute drop, though I attempted to ride Houdini's Great Escape and had it break down on me. Coney Island (NYC): FINALLY rode the Cyclone. Didn't have a ton of money to reride, and also lacked the time for Luna Park. Someday... Best "new" coasters of the year: El Toro, Cyclone, Batman: The Ride, Skull Mountain, Runaway Mine Train. In that order. Top 5's went from something like... Wood Voyage Thunderbolt Legend Raven Thunderhead Steel Intimidator 305 Storm Runner Magnum XL-200 Millennium Force Great Bear To something like Wood Voyage El Toro (tied) Cyclone Legend Raven Steel Intimidator 305 Storm Runner Magnum XL-200 Batman: The Ride Adventure Express (In case you've seen previous "top coasters" lists from me and are now wondering: I have the most fluid taste in roller coasters ever. I generally like all of them, but there are moments where I miss some more than others. My "top coasters" is more like a "top coasters I miss at the moment.") EDIT: Also, HTML is a jerk sometimes.1 point
