Me and my son went to the yard sale after Kings Island this morning and I walked around and took a few pics. The place is coming along and all the new paint looks nice but they have a ton of work to do in the next two weeks.6 points

Not all of us thought it was a roller coaster or a new ride. Many of us realized it was extremely unlikely a new coaster could be constructed in a month's time. Hopefully? I hope it sticks around. It's an extremely fun ride, seems to be a favorite among guests, and brings in some revenue for the park.6 points

If he could care less then he does care some... And whereabouts? Isn't the park still in Mason?5 points

Zzzzzzzzzz... Whoa, waking from my long slumber. Is there something going on in the park??? Seems to me that the same people who were smart enough to track down a trademark filing could look on public records no further than in Warren County to see what zoning permits have been applied for/filed? Construction has obviously started, so its been filed somewhere... Go to the courthouse, attend a zoning hearing (they're public), or even scope out your good friend- the internet. Going back to bed now.5 points

Thats a great diagram. That looks spot on. But dont you think it would make more sense to flip where the station and the train house thing would be. Just so its easier to get in line and stuff.Maybe (hopefully) they're finally getting rid of Slingshot. But Slingshot is fun.4 points

If that's the case, if and when you do find out, don't ruin the fun for the rest of us!4 points

If that's the guess, if and when you do find out, don't ruin the fun for the rest of us! Seconded. If you happen to hear advance, non-public information, please don't be that person who leaks it on the Internet. Just quietly relish the fact that you know something the public doesn't.If your uncle would hear something about this project that's not in a public record, he almost certainly has a professional (if not legal) obligation to keep in confidence. Don't spoil it for others, but if you do hear something Baconador, please PM me3 points

Just a matter at this point of when they make the announcement...since you can plainly see the progress being made. From what I saw last night, they have progressed quite a bit from last week.3 points

And fight is the right word. For some reason, many of Cedar Fair's admissions people are the grumpiest, unfriendliest, bordering on nastiest people I have ever dealt with in a service industry. It isn't that way at Busch, Six Flags or Disney. This is one area where FUN needs work. The whole front gate experience leaves a LOT to be desired, in my view, whether at the FUN parks or on the web.3 points

I for one want the park to know that I'm leaving to have a parking lot picnic, or to visit a restaurant down the street. No more FunPerks, and if the service we got at Bier Garten (and the service friends got at Reds Hall of Fame Grille) on Saturday is any indication of the way they will be running things in Food Service this year, I'll be taking spending my money elsewhere, be it Kroger to pack a lunch or Taco Bell, Chipotle, Burger King or one of the other nearby establishments. (Yes, I realize it was opening day and am willing to give KI Food Service another chance... one more.) Maybe then they'll actively work again to keep my money in the park. People gotta eat, but not necessarily in the park.3 points

Hello people of the interwebs, I just checked out the KI website and discovered that the webcams are currently back up. All of them except the WindSeeker cam that is. And there also is no new webcams for the mystery construction. This doesn't really surprise me as they probably won't place a new webcam until they announce what they are building. But what I'm curious about is why the WindSeeker cam is down. Is the construction area viewable from that camera? Will construction stretch into the view of that camera eventually, and that's why they haven't put the camera back up yet? I don't know. What do you think? The Anticipation of this new "thing" is killing me, DBI2 points

The whole argument about Flight Deck being so far out of the way makes me laugh a bit. Especially when SOB was SBNO, I'd hear: "there's nothing back here but Flight Deck, the walk seems so much longer since Son of Beast isn't operating anymore!" "They should move the ride over so we don't have to walk back that far." Now tell me this, when the ride opened in 1993, other than the Lion County Safari, there wasn't anything else back there correct? So when LCS was removed, there still wasn't anything back there right? So from 1994-1999, the walk to Flight Deck was still the same as it is today, essentially (minus themeing/trees/bushes/etc.) but the distance is the same. So what's the difference between then and now? I know that Flight Deck isn't the biggest thrill in the park, but it's still a good coaster. So the fact that the coaster isn't worth the walk back there anymore kind of makes me curious...is it the ride...or is it the walk? /Random Ponderings.2 points

But take into the account that there was not a massive clearing of land involved with Dinosaurs Alive (and correct me if i'm wrong) that it was announced in the middle of winter, not summer like Diamondback. At this point in time I would be very surprised if they were not in the process of building a roller coaster as they haven't added a new one in 4 years. Kings Island's previous longest amount of time without adding a new coaster is 5 years (1972-1977 The Demon). Which would also be the amount of time between Diamondback and "Banshee" (2009-2014). So I'm going to say that the chances are pretty high that this one's a roller coaster (or at least i think so). But, coaster or no coaster, I'm just excited about the anticipation of this "new thing". DBI2 points

There's no difference in how high it goes. I looked at the tower while riding yesterday and saw the exact same amount of light blue below the ride unit that I remember seeing in the past. The gap between the ride unit and the top of the tower has always been there; it's never gone all the way to the very top of the tower.2 points

I MAY try to use my KI Platinum Pass at KD soon. Or, given the past, I may just go to Great Adventure or Busch Gardens Williamsburg instead.2 points

Muppetfan1999 and I really liked Firehawk. I'm glad we did it. Beastie1980.... Not so much lol Even though we didn't get to ride that much it was probably my favorite ki trip ever. I loved seeing all of you guys.Nice report. You have incredible observing skills lol. ALSO shoutout to Terpy! I was really happy that to see you. Not as much as Beastie1980 though, haha. She was so excited I thought she was going to dive into the fountains. Haha2 points

Working or not, my trip to KI and CP that is coming up in 2 weeks will not include rides on either WindSeeker.2 points

The idea is a terrain-hugging coaster, a la Maverick and Cheetah Run, only longer and faster. Hummmmm - terrain hugging - just like a big wooden coaster at the park who's son used to take up the area we're discussing.2 points

Looks more like they borrowed the template from Cedar Point's Fast Lane page....or is this the beginning of a ride swap program? If they can move X-Flight from Geauga Lake to KI, then... Just kidding, please no one take the above statement seriously! Sweet, Millennium Force is coming to KI!!!!!2 points

According to the fine folks working at the front gate at Kings Island, if you have a season pass you no longer need to get stamped to re-enter. I would assume that means that you can use your pass more than once in a day.1 point

Was up in the tower later last night, pictures don't really do justice to how much work has been done, land cleared beyond sob. Pure speculation, and I think it's contradictory to what theyve said, but it wouldnt surprise me to see a hotel at the far back of the park as part of the long term expansion1 point

Maybe (hopefully) they're finally getting rid of Slingshot. Then the new ride would not be in Action Zone anymore would it?1 point

Who would tamper with a sign reading "video & audio monitoring in progress"? Seriously, though, anyone vandalizing park property would be ejected out of and banned from the park, if not criminally charged.1 point

Wow, construction this early is really a great sign. Can't wait to see what this ends up being. I'd love to see a Maverick type ride at the park, I think it would fit that section perfectly.1 point

Coworker 1 to coworker 2 during a conversation about Kings Island: "Hey, remember when they had The Bat? I rode that. It was awesome. I think it was the prototype for that Top Gun ride." Me: *perks up, listens in* Coworker 1: "Yeah, I rode that the week after the big accident." Me: *slightly cringes* Coworker 1: "I guess two cars ended up derailing..." Me: *definitely cringes* Coworker 1: "...And killing, like, 10-14 people." Me: *counts capacity of two Arrow suspended coaster cars in head, groans internally* Coworker 2: "Woah, really? When was that?" Coworker 1: *pauses* "...I guess that would have been 1987 or 1988." Me: *develops hemorrhage* (It didn't actually tweak me that much, haha. I'm exaggerating. I don't exactly expect everyone in the world to know the precise life span of a short-lived prototype roller coaster from 30+ years ago.) EDIT: Okay, so I guess this is technically a guest OUTSIDE the park saying a darnest thing, but I'm too lazy to drag up the appropriate topic. Sue me!1 point

The experiences on the Drop Towers is vastly different from that on tall coasters, so I think we are safe in that regard. Is amazing how many people are estimating what type of ride we will be getting just based on the early work of a handful of unfinished footings! It is really too early to tell what type of ride this is going to be. What is clear, is it appears the park does in fact know what they are going to be replacing Son of Beast with. And based on the footings, and the troubled history that Son of Beast had, I doubt that they are going to install another wooden roller coaster in that spot.1 point

Thanks Ryan... I read your topic post to Snow woman. She said' " We can go back?" so we did. Got through the gate with no problems, we rode DB once in the front row and came back home. Good times.1 point

I have had my hand stamped hundreds of times. Not once has it hurt. I have had my hand stamped hundreds of times. Not once has it hurt. And not too many more times, has it actually shown up under the blacklight, right Terp? Sparky, who never forgets a conversation.1 point
