And their pay toilets date back to the nickel days. If they'd fix them and use the collected money to keep the toilets clean, it'd be an improvement. Then again, the urinals, which used to be the long, open trough type with continually running fresh treated city drinking water, were always free, so I could see a discrimination suit coming. Fun (?) fact: A few years back, Camden Park suddenly got hit unexpectedly with a huge water bill. One it could ill afford. Those open trough urinals were quickly replaced with waterless urinals. The bill, instead of going down, increased more. Further investigations followed. A large, underground water leak was discovered. And that's how a park like Camden got waterless urinals. At the same time, some fool thought it was a great idea to put a drinking fountain in the back of the men's restroom. YUCK. The following year, the women complained. I guess husbands told their wives about the fountain. And, for that one season, the ONLY water fountain in the park, which does not give out free water, was in the back of the men's room. So, the women got one, too, the next season. And the woman's restroom exterior got painted. A hot pink. Really? Fun (?) fact #2 (so to speak). Smell sewage at Camden? It may NOT be coming from their typically disgusting, nasty bathrooms. Ride the Skyliner. Look to your far left, over by the Ohio River. City sewage plant. And on hot days, it gets mighty ripe. Then again, for years there have been several areas at Kings Island that smell exactly like that on hot days. Terp. Enjoy your breakfast!6 points

They are currently putting in a support beam. (The one that is the same color as the track.) They just put it in and I am watching the live cam at https://www.carowinds.com/online-fun/webcams under live stream. (Same place I got this photo)5 points

I received an email last offseason from KI inviting me to take part in an online survey. Of the dozen or so questions asked, I distinctly recall that a couple of them related to my interest level in a Winterfest return and if so, what offerings and price point would be reasonable for such an event. I'm sure CF has those results and will or won't bring it back if demand warrants,4 points

^I agree, especially given the fact that a dark ride in the style of Guardian of Wonder Mountain or Justice League has a minimum height requirement. Boo Blasters is a phenomenal family attraction in the fact there is no minimum height requirement and guests of all ages can enjoy. That being said, I wouldn't mind if parts were slightly updated or upkept better. The ending scenes, with flashing lights and demonic skeletons, is also somewhat questionable for a family attraction.4 points

As of last December, Great Wolf Lodge had one of those in its arcade, with the same two coasters. Unfortunately, I couldn't get it to work right.4 points

I'd like to go back to the day and what the conversation was like that we decided to go there. I remember it being jam packed from floor to ceiling with Christmas stuff, than you would enter a whole new room of more Christmas stuff, than another room. I think the joke we made is it was just like grandmas house if grandma was a very organised hoarder who liked to display her stuff.3 points

If Kings Island does another dark ride, why not use either the former Crypt building or perhaps the Action Theater building?3 points

Wish I could have experienced Knott's before Cedar Fair...sounded so nice. RIP Marion3 points

You mean the days when EVERY ride cycle was filled with riders who bought tickets for that ride, those who ran out of tickets or couldn't afford them didn't ride and there were no season passes? When parking was free but using the toilet wasn't? When admission was free...or a dime? When there were E ticket rides? Those were the days when I grew up. The industry is changing again. As it has and must....3 points

If there are people on here looking for entertainment stuff around the Cincinnati/Dayton area, Scene 75 in Dayton is great for indoor fun. Laser tag, mini golf, bowling, arcade, go karts, bumper cars, etc... It is a tad pricey, but it is a high quality product! http://www.scene75.com2 points

Yea I'm not sure about keeping Boo Blasters bu I'm all for keeping that as a seperate family dark ride and then getting something like Battle for Metropolis or even Wonder Mountain's Guardian, though I'd prefer the Justice League one right now. If we got a new updated shooting one I'd hope that they convert Boo Blasters into a new dark ride that is one you can just ride through. MAybe themed to Peanuts since it's in that area.2 points
-
I would be fine with it being upgraded as long as it remains a shooting dark ride. So much fun for everyone!2 points

You could always try to find one of these (old) machines in a shopping mall: I last saw one in Indiana around 2012. I have no idea if any are still operating.2 points

As for thrills during the Off-Season, I do like to skateboard when its warm out (like in March or April). I'm no Tony Hawk, but I do like to cruise around my neighborhood. As for other things to do during the off-season (or really any time), exploring new places or trying new restaurants can be fun. Last off-season, during my Spring Break, I took a half-day to go visit some sites in my hometown such as a park and a mall which was pretty fun.2 points

Wasn't that price for the whole Magic Bands and My Magic+ thing? Wifi surely wasn't a billion on its own, right? I just came across this and not sure if I already answered. The $1.1B project wasn't for one bullet point, but a whole project. Wifi wasn't installed purely for Guest Experience alone- it was installed so that their Park/Resort MyMagic App could interface in real-time anywhere on property for WDW and Guest (experience). So, the project was all-inclusive of a stack of items under the umbrella of one heck of a project. Wifi and/or MyMagic wasn't the "wheel"- but several spokes of the wheel. Sorry if redundant.2 points

I love cruising through neighborhoods to look at amazing holiday lights, especially after it snows.2 points

Having spent the last two years in kiddy land with present day four year old twins, I'll throw in my two cents. Did my kids know who the Peanuts were before they started going to KI? No. Did they care what brand there was? Not one bit. If anything, their exposure to the Peanuts gang at KI has led them to see what the Peanuts were all about outside of KI. Can't begin to tell you how many times we've watched "It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" the past few months. Now that they are more familiar with the Peanuts, it makes each visit that much more special for them. Not sure if that's what Cedar Fair was gunning for when they went with a less familiar brand but hey, whatever works. I'll say this, we threw down quite a bit of cash this year on Peanuts plush in the merch shop so kudos to Cedar Fair, mission accomplished. As for the removal of water maze, I guess the bad finally outweighed the good. Sure there was never a line and there was little maintenance needed on it but it always seemed like such a liability having that attraction around. Then again, I guess it's no different than the tipping bucket over in the waterpark.2 points

That all being said, and I totally agree, it's just as sad that Pat Koch is apparently not welcome at the park she and her late husband worked so hard to establish. The entire situation is tragic, and I cannot and will not look at either park with the same awe and respect that I once did.2 points
-
I still prefer Cedar Fair over Six Flags, but these types of attractions, ideas, and quality are what CF really needs to improve on. I'm just hoping Voyage to the Iron Reef will be an improvement based off what I've seen and heard of WMG. I feel like the amusement park industry, for the most part, is no longer focused on building the tallest and the fastest, but rather the most immersive and unique. To keep up and stay competitive, I really hope CF takes some risks in these areas.2 points
-
WOW...that is very, very nice. Something on this level would blow away Boo Blasters, and if put in the old building, would be an actual worthy successor to Enchanted Voyage/Smurfs/Phantom Theatre. Not really too much more to say other than that. Six Flags may well have hit gold with these dark rides. Also, on the topic title, that Animatronic is no joke. EDIT: Title has been fixed so line above now makes no sense. The poster forgot the "r" in Joker's name.2 points
-
That animatronic is almost creepy with how realistic and fluid the motion is. Wow. High-quality physical sets combined with 3D effects and (what I am selfishly, desperately praying will be) a ride system like Curse of DarKastle? Sign me up right now. As much as I want to like the idea behind Wonder Mountain's Guardian, this seems like a much more impressive step forward in seasonal parks' dark rides. I am dying to get to St. Louis next year...2 points

This......THIS is "What I Call" Dark Rides. The implications are, again, limitless with such an installation and I am already impressed (Note, I am a MARVEL fan, not a new age fanboy who only caught on after the Disney acquisition) . The Joker's face is cartoonish, but that is the same for who he really is, a cartoonish freak. Well played Sally and SIX, I may be taking a detour just to go to a Six Flags park this Summer.2 points

WDTN - Dayton, Beach Mountain Interview http://wdtn.com/2014/11/17/the-beach-mountain/ This was the same lady that only got one media hit after their media day (the DDN article in the initial post). She clearly can't speak on camera either. There is also the claim that Beach Mountain is 40' tall and 40' long. That's incorrect. It's about 40' tall, however it's much longer than 40'. It is also implied that the the Winter VIllage section will be in the water park. It'll be on the water park "side" of the parking lot, but not in the water park itself. The vast majority of the water park will not be open for this activity. With all that being said, let's hope that they have a successful event. The Adventure Holdings people are good people. They are trying to do this right the first time out of the gates. There are going to be snags along the way. As a reminder, Beach Mountain opens Friday at 10am. The first 100 people down the hill get a Beach Mountain Backpack. (Why they're giving out backpacks at 10am on a school day is beyond me, by the way) I assure you - I'm not bashing to be hateful, I'm criticizing because I care. http://www.thebeachmountain.com/2 points

Awesome. This isn't just a grab at a world record like I had initially thought. The coaster is actually very cool! Nice pacing, nice rhythm, not too repetitive either! This coaster can compete with coasters at the world-renowned parks! Now... let's just see how long this stays smooth.. let's see how well maintenance is prioritized.2 points

My family and I stopped here a year or two ago, very nice store. Friendly family running it. Great selection of Christmas decorations and gifts. We got a few Christmas ornaments when we went, and most things seemed to be reasonable priced. The store also had the wonderful Christmas scent throughout.2 points

Majority, I would think no (could be wrong)... If you were to say Phantom Theater then probably yes. My major concern with Boo Blasters, is that they have let some of the special effect slip away and also seem to not care about most of the guns and if their working or not... When BBBH first opened, It was actually a quite cool little dark ride, now I would say not as much... I would really like to see a dark ride like Universal Orlando's Men in Black Alien Attack. Something that moves at uneven paces, has guests interact with one another, guns that show where their shooting, a more immersed feeling, fog (an effect even MIB lost), and spinning of the cart, at a similar speed/power. @ zacc1993, Welcome to KIC!1 point

I hope if they get a new dark ride, they find a way to keep Boo Blasters. I happen to really like Boo Blasters. Not sure if I'm in the majority of everyone on here on that one.1 point

I went to Camden Park this season and was kinda surprised to see they still had their pay toilets there. they weren't in working order, which wasn't the only thing. being a small park, that probably doesn't have alot of money to keep with newer times, If the upkeep was better that would be a great place to go for a nostalgic 60's/70's type of amusement park. Don't know what i've done here, Not real computer smart sometimes1 point

Four things make me come to the Cincy area on a regular basis: work, Kings Island, Ikea and the Gap Clearance Store. So with that, the thing I'm making a point to attend is the Mummies of the World exhibit at the Cincinnati Museum Center. I saw it in Charlotte in 2012 and will absolutely pay to see it again. It's a well done exhibition and I'm hoping to take my oldest nephew. http://www.cincymuseum.org/exhibits/mummies-of-the-world LoraX - Your daughter and you may be interested in the Gap Clearance Store. You really have to check to make sure that there are no rips/tears (that you aren't willing to fix) but it is totally worth it. With dress pants for $6.99 and jeans for $9.99 - it's a great deal. They can be hit or miss so I recommend visiting every few months or so. http://www.yelp.com/biz/gap-clearance-store-hebron1 point

Probably The Beast more than any other. I didn't count, but can safely guess 150 or more times this season. Anyone who knows us, knows we rode this one a lot. Banshee was at least 120.1 point

Stuff like this really gets me excited! Brings high hopes to seeing something truly amazing being brought to KI. In these cases I think it is good KI didn't jump on this right away, as other parks can test it and see what works and what doesn't from this company, thus allowing for a better ride tomorrow! I could see something like this consuming the space of Boo Blasters on Boo Hill, and giving us one heck of a new dark ride for the 2016 or later season! the question is though (going for all CF parks) how well will each park keep up with maintenance and theming on the ride, if they get/getting one or already have one?1 point

Great Scott! If WDW's 20K Leagues Under The Sea attraction had a baby, it's this! I LOVE the steam punk theme and how it ties in with the area. Cedar Fair is doing EXACTLY what I love, theme and plot based off of the history of the park. Maybe I should go SoCal this year?1 point

Being a REAL Marvel fan who loved Marvel LONG before Disney's acquisition that's brought on all those new age wannabe fanboys, you certainly know that the Joker is a character owned by DC Comics and licensed to Six Flags under their agreement.1 point

For myself, The best era for me was the Nick Central years. It had the right mix of HB stuff and the new nick stuff. It felt fun and Scooby doo was a great dark ride. The only "bad" right was Ghoster coaster. Nick Universe wasn't the same. It just felt so corporate.1 point

A great example of what Sally is capable of when given the resources! Some of us are limited to associating them with Boo Blasters, broken guns, and blacklight cutouts, but Sally is a true leader in the dark ride industry!1 point

^ The record number of riders in a season for each ride is listed on the ride records page on visitskingsisland.com. A direct link is in the first post of this thread. Click each ride to expand its statistics. Cedar Point & Lake Erie Railroad has two stations in the main park. The ride features numerous special effects on the eastern half of the loop. The layout of Cedar Point requires more walking between far attractions than Kings Island's.1 point

Here is a newly released "teaser" trailer of the new film. It gives us a glimpse of what the film will look like when finished. I must say that I think the style is the perfect blend of 2D/3D style. Kind of curious to see more!1 point
