  2. (my son) the future rider that will never be
  3. Probably this part of the station because it's curved.
  4. Yes sir! I Already made it forgot to post it just gotta add the new brake run and Ill post it tonight when I get home. My bad y'all!
  5. You gotta love that brake hill.
  6. Bright orange rails: Circa 2009
  7. I would assume that they have everything planned out. There's probably a certain day they want Zeus assembled by, and until then they can do smaller lifts with the other cranes. I could be wrong though.
  8. So it appears they lofted the track piece up, and now they're doing something to the support that was previously installed. It's swaying back and forth, so it appears they're having to do some sort of adjustment with it. It appears they resolved whatever it was. Another support going up now. For those unsure of where the brake run begins, it'll start somewhere in the circle, based on the blueprints. Edit for 11:19 AM since the forum is so slow: Another track piece is being strapped up to be lifted onto the new support.
  9. RIP to my favorite arrow

  16. And with that ladies and gentlemen, just over 10% of Orion has been erected! Woo Hoo!

Bumping this a bit, but wanted to share my Bat souvenir alongside @Alex103 and @standbyme. At work I have an original The Bat mug next to a new The Bat mug, both for holding pens and what-not. I don't remember where or how I got the original Bat piece, but I've had it for years now.
  18. Removed photo since it wasn’t an entry.
  19. I mean i tried but lets have @JonahWilliamson deal with the simulation ...
  20. I can't wait to see that giant brake run peeking over the fence. Edit: @JonahWilliamson Could you fill in the track progress so far on the simulation?
  21. Everything is absolutely planned out. Zeus will go up when they plan for him to go up. Another brake run piece going up now.
  22. Good morning guys!! Happy Friday!! Who's ready to see Orion in person this weekend!! I know I am!
  23. It should be topped off by the end of the month if weather permits. They are ahead of schedule. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Any idea what this building will be used for?
  25. Does anyone know what happened to those unpainted crane pieces in the parking lot from about two months ago?
  26. Walking in from the employee lot and there are white boom components in the lot on the north corner
  27. First time poster, long time reader here. Gotta say, these pictures make me even more disappointed that Vortex is closing, I just dont understand it I guess. Lots of childhood memories of this ride like many others have said on here already. But some awesome pictures here guys
  28. The brake run piece was put in!
  29. Yeah, they know what they are doing. We just don't know the plan. It's probably just not planned to put Zeus up quite yet. Let's just go with the flow and enjoy watching construction.
  30. They could probably tear down the building (preferably still a mine themed queue with the existing structure though) and put in a more standard top spin there that is open with thematic elements around it. They could give it a lumber theme similar to Buzzsaw at Walibi Belgium or Ripsaw at Alton Towers. This could tie in with the Miami River Lumber Co. in that section as well.
  31. Haven't seen the cams since Tuesday... what a sight to wake up to this beautiful Friday morning!
  32. I’m sure they hired an outside firm to produce the commercials. I wouldn’t hold my breath though, Yukon Striker & Copperhead haven’t received these animated commercials sadly. I personally love them. edit - Found them - https://carbonvfx.com/ 2nd edit - They wrote an article about Mystic Timbers editing process - https://carbonvfx.com/work/vfx/cedar-fair-mystic-timbers/
  33. I took a similar photo during Winterfest. It did look abandoned.
  34. Here are some high quality photos from Wild Gravity travels, full credit to them.
  35. NO! The big one is Zeus...let me have this! We all have them straight! We might see the track arise into place tomorrow for that break run piece. Looks like Cleo is heading out and possibly back to Zeus's pad.
  36. @KI Master Well, the future is wrong, as we are getting Orion for 2020. :-P
  37. **Insert Vortex sinking joke This is a sad day. I haven’t ridden Vortex as much as I did in my younger years because it’s a little too rough for me, but to me Vortex is Kings Island as much as the Eiffel Tower is. Such a beautiful ride. It’s going to be painful to watch this one go down. In reference to @flightoffear1996’s mention of 2021, I wouldn’t count on it. My understanding is that one of the reasons that we are getting the giga so close to Mystic (time-wise) is because they knew that the lifecycle of The Vortex was to end this year. This may be hearsay, but the information was spot on. Also, KI blog: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/blog/2019/september/kings-island-to-retire-Vortex-after-33-seasons
  38. Where are you getting the 50% figure? By all accounts, the park made this decision after looking at the customer data and where guests are spending their time within the park. I don't think the park made this decision lightly and removing the rides provides significant savings (although it's a hard pill to swallow). I'd hardly say they're "done for" by solely having the pool (which truly has been their bread & butter for years), water attractions, and yearly festivals. Anecdotal: but I swung by yesterday just to snap some photos of the rides before they depart. People were enjoying them, but the "crowds" around the rides paled in comparison to the crowd at the pool and its line to get in. Hell, many of the people I saw actually enjoying the rides were donning amusement park t-shirts anyways. A lot of people on these forums, like with Orion, need to realize just what little percentage "enthusiasts" make up of park guests/buying power.
