  1. Not sure if this was mentioned before but I rode Wookstock's Air Rail yesterday in the front and noticed the painted letters on the metal floor on the lift hill. Nice touch

  2. The reuse of The Bat IP proved to be successful amongst park fans which got me thinking, will the park recycle an old IP for a new ride? Some might consider it lazy to recycle something that’s since been gone but I argue it’s creative and a money saver in many respects. That being said, which IP do you think would be the easiest to resurrect for a new ride?

  3. Here's a piece I wrote for Theme Parks By Don comparing Snoopy's Soap Box Racers and Good Gravy! It won't win a Pulitzer but I think it captures the spirit of the thing. https://themeparksbydon.com/comparing-snoopys-soap-box-racers-and-good-gravy/

  4. @jcoop22 and @jbeast yep. Exactly for those reasons you both stated above. Again, its nice to have everything laid out in the app. But apps crash or sometimes they just don't load quickly or correctly. And heaven forbid your phone dies or freezes up or what have you. That's why so long as physical pass cards are a thing I will always have one. And yes, the parking scanners really do read them much easier. I have seen one too many people struggle to get the scanner to read their phone screen and it just holds up the line.

  5. I asked Malem to take a look at this. Sorry guys. I don't know how to fix it myself.

  6. I finally got a ride on SSBR and it was definitely a fun coaster. I rarely ride Flying Ace Arial Chase (Woodstock AirRail) but I do usually ride Woodstock Express a few times throughout the season and while I still slightly prefer it to SSBR I will definitely be getting on SSBR multiple times each season as it is a fantastic coaster for younger guests and families. I rode the back row and it really gives you an amazing view of the park and a good whip through those turns. Going backwards is also a wonderful sensation! Love the area and the theming. I was definitely critical of the camp Snoopy addition at first but as Micky Dolenz sang in the 1960s "now I'm a believer"

  7. If I were the park and doing a nostalgia-based attraction based on the options here, I'd do a B&M surf coaster named King Cobra. I don't say this to shoot down this topic, but if I'm being honest, I'd much rather the park definitively draw the nostalgia era to a close with a return of Phantom Theater and then start focusing more on creating new legends. Nostalgia was a cool focus for the 50th, and bringing back The Bat name, adding Kings Mills Antique Autos, and making the refurbishments of Adventure Express and Racer among the marketed additions of their respective years were inspired touches. I also think that if we continue much more down that path, the park risks another era down the road where, much like post-Paramount, the park will have failed to keep up with the industry and we'll be getting an RMC 10 years after the stateside trend has faded, as was the case with B&M inverts and Banshee. Every legendary KI ride was some new idea the park hadn't seen before. Let's do more of that.

  8. I always thought it was a huge missed opportunity that they didn't retheme Invertigo to Screamin' Demon. I think whatever goes in The Vortex plot could at least pay some sort of homage to Vortex. Regardless of how people thought about the roughness of the ride, it was still one of the more iconic coasters of the park. Not saying I want a Vortex 2, but it would be nice to see Vortex incorporated somewhere in the theme of the new ride, or the color scheme being orange and blue.

  9. I'm old school when it comes to having a physical pass always. I was in line at the Brewhouse last year with my son when a girl in front of me of had her phone die in line and had no physical pass to use her meal plan. She was freaking out a bit. I let her know her that she can get a physical pass. She kinda acted surprised you could get an actual pass. What would we do without our phones now...ha! Saw her later that day and she thanked me for pointing that out to her.

  10. I keep our physical passes in my car just in case, plus the parking scanners read the physical passes easier than a phone screen.

  12. Seasonal amusement parks are exempt from paying overtime, and neither Kings Island or Cedar Point pays overtime, it makes zero difference how long a shift is or how many hours they work a week.

  14. I just got back to my BnB from a bucket list park: Phantasialand. Only 7 coasters (I rode 5) but its an incredible park. Got another bucket list park coming in a couple days (Europa). I was thinking of doing Japan later this year but then the opportunity for this trip came up and I took it. I'll have 6 new parks under my belt after Europa and it feels strange because I hadn't been to a park outside of KI and CP in probably 20 years or more.

  15. So update- I finally landed another Skyline job as I wanted something familiar given the situation I'm in, and its likely I'll get a KI only gold pass next month. I'm going to suck it up and not add anything to it and spread my in-park meal expenses and minimal FL usage over the season and not all up front as I can't afford the later. I know I've said I was possibly skipping for other reasons, but given the stress of how I've been between jobs, I need this to kind of reward myself. Not doing all-park, I wanted to do CP initially but $$$ isn't conducive to that plan. I might do a KK or HW day trip though.
