  2. I currently have been hyperfixating on both Phantom Theater and Haunted Houses (mostly like Universal’s Horror Nights houses bc there’s no new ones at Haunt), so naturally I’ve been thinking on how to combine the two. Here’s my concept for a Phantom Theater themed Haunt house, inspired by elements of the Universal houses. I feel like the Haunt houses at Kings Island could benefit from more storytelling (something they’ve improved upon with Hotel St. Michelle and some elements of Alien Abyss). I don’t necessarily know if a Phantom Theater house would be the best direction for Haunt (If it’s too scary it would taint the IP in children’s minds, and a well-themed house would likely be a large enough investment that they would want it to be around for several years, potentially delaying any plans for an attraction return), but I’m also a sucker for an old ride returning through a Haunt (See Dueling Dragons at HHN). The following is my very rant-y concept for a PT house: The basic plot is that the house would vaguely be an origin story for how each of the performers from the attraction died (Yes I know in the original ride they’re not canonically ghosts but shhhh). Some scare aspects for this idea are taken from the Universal Haunts, so after each I’ll put a video link and time stamp for what I envision with it, warning for gore in some. Facade: The house entrance would be a recreation of the original attraction facade. Organ music is heard in the guest waiting area, with occasional snippets from the original Maestro queue recording. Before entering the house, an usher (perhaps Broken-Neck Nicki) explains the safety information and a brief explanation of the house’s plot Room 1: Theater Entrance A Candle lit lobby with torn curtains scattered around the walls. The queue posters from the original attraction would be displayed as well. A scareactor dressed as Maestro pops out of a curtain. “So you wanted to see the theater, did ya?” (1:17 https://youtu.be/-AhvQ-TJPdE?si=zVBwL88aL09T_EWY) Room 2: Hallway A long hallway with the dressing room doors from the ride. A Willard Warbler actor would abruptly slam a door open and shout at the guest. “Oh dear, close that door!” At the end of the hall, what is seemingly a mirror would ‘break’, with Larry the Usher popping out. (1:07 https://youtu.be/-AhvQ-TJPdE?si=zVBwL88aL09T_EWY) Room 3: Houdelini’s Rehersal Room A Houdelini actor pulls his demonic rabbit out of the hat. Turning to a corner, a short hallway is filled with bodies being mutilated by the magic equipment. Included is a sawed in-half Larry still in the box. A sculpture of the rabbit is seen mauling on Houdelini at the end of the hall. Room 4: Hilda Bovine Rehearsal Room A dark room with scattered wooden beams blocks the field of view. Rotting skeletons dressed as Vikings would be scattered across the room, along with props such as shields and music sheets. Hilda pops out from a hidden curtain and screams. “AAHHH!!” Room 5: Backstage A room filled with hanging theater sandbags that the guests have to walk through. A scareactor of one of the stagehands pops out, with a corpse caught hanging in the ropes next to him. At the end of the hallway is an electrical panel, which an electrified Gus the stage manager jumps out next to, shining a flashlight in the guest’s eyes. “The backstage is for performers only!” Room 6: The Great Garbanzo Rehearsal Room An extension of the backstage area, a cannon set next to guests fires smoke, seemingly into the ceiling. An actor dressed as The Great Garbanzo then jumps out, manically laughing. Room 7: Balcony Hallway A thin corridor with green walls. At the end sits No Legs Larry (either a live scareactor using a mirror effect, or just a prop), leading guest into the theater. “The show is just about to begin!” Room 8: Stage Guests walk across the stage filled with smoke. (1:54 https://youtu.be/u6xMv74SUBY?si=64JaPAl5DD6vtcME) A Lionel Burymore actor would pop out next to a castle facade, with stab marks clearly visible on his chest. Mannequins would be set up across the room dressed as Houdelini, Hilda, Garbonzo, Willard Warbler, and several theater-goers. A Maestro actor would be seen in the center, playing his organ. (1:21 Room 9: Prop Room Guest would enter the prop room, filled with references to the original attraction and leftover props from random past houses. A Mummy scareactor would emerge out of the original sarcophagus prop, with a rat puppet also being used. Room 10: Boiler Room A collapsed wall in the prop room would lead into the boiler room. Pipes and crates would be scattered across the room, with the original furnace moved over from Slaughterhouse. A heat effect would blast guests as they crossed, with two scareactors dressed as the boiler-men. “How about some heat?” Guests would turn into a final corner, with a final Maestro jumpscare at the exit of the house. “You’ll be back! You’ll be baaaack!”

  3. The reason I said it was what I said: " Because that is the number of kids a chaperone can supervise, and the reason for the chaperone policy is to hold the chaperone responsible for the actions of such kids." If you would like to assume other things, please continue to make an ass out of yourself. Further response to you is superfluous and fruitless. Good day, sir or madam.

  4. Because that is the number of kids a chaperone can supervise, and the reason for the chaperone policy is to hold the chaperone responsible for the actions of such kids. What exactly are you imagining my answer would be?

  5. Whoever approved that sign for public display deserves a talking-to. "Service begins at 5PM until Supplies last" not only doesn't make sense, buy why the heck is "Supplies" capitalized?!? Shouldn't it read "Service begins at 5PM while supplies last"?

  6. Oh yes - I agree on all that. My only point is I don't even know why they do things like Chef's Plate if they aren't using it to actually serve a purpose. Just like CARNIVALE was so misguided and poorly executed from a food ops standpoint, that I also don't know why they really bothered. If it doesn't justify itself financially it will be cut, and the line to the entrance shows there's demand. Now you have to wonder if it's true demand or it's "steak for free" demand. That's why I even suggest exploring the nominal upcharge idea ONLY FOR THINGS LIKE THAT to generate revenue so hopefully things like a flag in Snoopy's hand can maybe be replaced during the whole of the season. There just doesn't seem to be ANY creative thinking from the top anymore. It's "cut and cut" when you could actually "ADD, AND ADD, AND ADD" and increase revenue at a rate that exceeds the rate of investment. That just takes trust in your creative and planning people - THAT'S what I don't think exists anymore. It's easier to cut on the front end than to project out future revenue on the back end.

  7. Location isn't as big a question as to how well it will be staffed with scare actors.

  8. Yes, exactly. There's not a lot of socioeconomic overlap between someone with the lack of intelligence displayed in this situation with people who can afford the in-park cost to "achieve" a BAL of 0.277. I'm not saying it's not possible that she got over-served in the park, but anyone trying to draw a link between alcohol sales in the park and this behavior is not on well-founded argumentative ground.

  9. There are likely performance clauses in the contract, but as far as penalties go, it's not likely to be extreme. It does no one any good for a park/chain to bankrupt a supplier over something like this.

  10. It's 110% on the manufacturer. In fact, the park might even have some terms in the contract that Zamperla owes them x dollars per downtime.

  11. International Street: Bring back more appropriate music for the area. Would liek the side walkways to have more of a resemblance to before but with all the seating around I'm not sure I'd want to get rid of that but be hard to get it back to that either ,maybe build out a couple area at the Eiffel Tower end like at the front to add additional seating then remove table in the middle to add some more landscaping and larger trees there. Add another flat by Diamondback's turnaround, something more simple and classic to go with the area like a tilt-a-whirl or trabant. Add more landscaping and make it a nice Tower Gardens area for that whole section behind the tower. Camp snoopy/Planet Snoopy: Make the entire area Camp Snoopy. Add more trees to give it more of an outdoor/camp feel and provide more shade. Convert Boo Blasters into a Peanuts dark ride and replace some of the older rides with some newer ones. MAybe add something like Black Bear Trail from Dollywood as well to the area next to the playground, or as a replacement for the Dora train ride. Rivertown: Replace the Crypt building with a new flat. Keep the queue and theme it to a mine, but tear down the large building and put in a screamin' swing themed to an oil rig. Coney Mall: Continue upgrading the rides with new lighting packages, would convert the end by WindSeeker into a 50's themed miniland within Coney Mall. Retheme BLSC into a 50's theme to match. Remove the basketball games and use that space and some of the BLSC plaza to put in a Musik Express (sock hop theme or something), New coaster in Vortex's plot with a surfing theme. Either a surf coaster or Gerstlauer Infinity like Hangtime. I would also convert the old Action Theatre into a new Phantom Theatre dark ride. It's spot is secluded a bit within Racer's turnaround so could make the outside and surrounding area a bit decrepit and rundown without hurting the ambience of the rest of Coney Mall. Area 72: Add some restrooms, put in a flat or two. A SkyFly or something like Air Racers at Carowinds would fit the theme well. also a gravitron, nebulaz, or topscan could all work too. Oktoberfest / Adventure port: Wouldn't change too much here. Would just make the current Oktoberfest became part of International Street. Do a little enhancement to the interior of FestHaus. Adventure Port would just make sure to keep up/enhance AE theming and maybe enhance the third tunnel with better theming. Action Zone: This area needs the most. I would make this a new Oktoberfest section to celebrate the heritage of the area. As they don't seem as popular or have a bit of downtime I'd replace Congo Falls and Invertigo with a new larger ride. Either a water coaster if they want to keep a water ride there or an RMC style coaster. I'd also remove the SkyCoaster. It is fun but it is right in the middle of the land and takes up a lot of space. Could remove this and add a couple flats and theming or a new restaurant as well. If a new restaurant is added I would maybe remove Chicken Shack and use that space for a flat instead. And depending on feasability a new Coaster utilizing SoB's station area for the new station, or if that doesn't work forgoing over the other coasters to get behind them then a large scale flat ride there. Soak City: Retheme the water park with a river theme (Miami River Works) and add some theming, more trees, and some new slides. Replace Splash Landing with a better and larger water fortress.

  12. I thought that was weird too. I was talking to Mike and some of the other gold tags after I had the chefs plate. I will share what I told them. "It was the best chefs plate I had ever had." Perfect portion size. The meat was tender, juicy, and well seasoned. The potato cakes were very flavorful. The carrots were well cooked.

  13. Was she over served inside the park, or was she a chaperone drinking in her car while her ten youngsters were line jumping and cussing?

  14. Definitely great placement, but difficult to beat the one at BGW where you're swinging out over the edge of a large cliff.

  15. Looks like KI isn't getting Oktoberfest this year. This is really disappointing on many different levels. Is it because there are tons of other Oktoberfest events around the Cincy area that upper management feels it wouldn't work at KI? Idk this feels like a huge missed opportunity.

  17. Water coasters in their simplest forms are slides, in which a tube or some form of vehicle like a mat, is propelled up a hill with some form of propulsion in contrast to traditional water slides that rely strictly on gravity and do not have propulsion up hill. To nit pick what constitute a water coaster as bringing tubes to the station is simply put is flawed. I've been to several waterparks, I have been on several water coasters, I'm probably one of the few people who actually counts their water side credits. You can have Infinity Master Blasters, Master Blasters that end and you have to pick up your tube and you could also go the ProSlide route which has a station and lift like what you get at Holiday World's attractions. I didn't hear anyone pipe up about the fact that MASSIV, which was touted as the world's TALLEST water coaster, you had to carry your tubes up to the station, thus disqualifying it from being a water coaster. Extreme Water Slide | MASSIV Monster Blaster | Schlitterbahn Galveston . But wait, there's more! Even White Water West, the producer of this new water coaster and MASSIV, has MASSIV on their website as a water coaster, the Master Blaster Model. Master Blaster Water Slide - The World's First Uphill Water Coaster (whitewaterwest.com) . The langua franca of the water park scape is different than what you have in the parks. Just like how you have B&M's and Intamin, you have White Water West and ProSlide Technologies. If you're looking at this as "hey this is a new coaster credit" don't, it's not a roller coaster, which necessitates different parameters to be considered as an actual roller coaster. It's a slide, called a water coaster, it doesn't mean Aqua Trax, which is entirely different.

  18. Even though we joke(r) about DC being in a lot of their parks, with CF leading way I like to think that they’ll be strategic with DC/WB IP.

  19. In t minus 16 hrs and 20 minutes Six Flags and Cedar Fair merge. Tomorrow morning I am venturing to Six Flags Cedar Point to ride Batman (formerly known as Raptor) , Joker (formerly known as GateKeeper), and Dr Doom's Free Fall (formerly known as Valravn.) The midway we so gracefully loved will be decked out in DC characters and rethemed to Gotham City. On Tuesday when I return to Kings Island I will find that Action Zone has completely be rethemed the Banshee is now known as Batman, Invertigo is Superman, and The Bat is the Joker. All the retheming of Planet Snoopy is adorned by Bugs Bunny and company. I am very excited.
