Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season
Just because the company slogan is "Demolition Specialists since 1962" does not mean that is all they do as these do not fall under the "demolition" category. HISTORICAL PRESERVATION / SALVAGEENVIRONNMENTAL SERVICESWASTE MANAGEMENT / RECYCLING / LEEDEXCAVATION / SITE WORK Why didn't they take Firehawk down? I don't know if they did or not but if not, there numerous reasons with two of the top being cost & availability. Shaggy has been an incredible & reliable contributor to KIC for a many years. I have not met Shaggy personally, but have tremendous respect for him due to the accuracy & detail of his contributions.

You are correct. Take a look at the SkyHigh page under projects, they have done deconstruction on King Chaos at SFGA.

Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season
For an enthusiast perhaps not, from a business perspective, it is completely practical. Any contractor cannot be shoe-horned into a single aspect of construction. There just is not enough business to support it.

Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season
Vortex's removal is part of the long term plan for KI. This can be confirmed with knowing the same firm that is assembling Orion will be disassembling Vortex.

Ideas for the Crypt building?
So it wasn't a great ride?

Ideas for the Crypt building?
Many comments surrounding DT @ CP were along the lines of: "man that ride sucks! The building is ugly too!" But when the queue line was used primarily for HH: "That is a good haunt."

Ideas for the Crypt building?
If the ride is great on the inside, nobody will care what the building looks like on the outside.

Cedar Point - Places to stay
Knights Inn is very inexpensive- but don't expect too much, you get what you pay for.

Lift chain life span
There are so many variables, I would assume there would be data that is needed to be crunched such as: Time chain lift motor is running/ amount of train cycles (train weight)/ amount of passengers (additional weight). I also assume that the chain slack would be checked periodically and once x-links are removed due to stretching the chain is replaced. I'm sure I oversimplified the process, but you get the idea.

Six Flags Entertainment (SIX) in Bid to Acquire Cedar Fair L.P. (FUN) - Reuters
Good business practice, especially concerning publicly traded companies, is to listen to all offers. But it doesn't mean it's going to happen. It's interesting that this news would be leaked. Or was it leaked with an ulterior motive for public/ customer backlash to squash it?? Easier to say no to a deal if most are not behind it......

Interesting news. Not sure why either entity would want (or allowed) to acquire each other.

Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season
Same complaints are made about Beast, Magnum and even DB due to the shimmying (which still boggles my mind). Younger generation has been "spoiled" by the smoothness of today's technology- and that's not a bad thing, it just is what it is. Rest assured, there is a plan in place- give it about 3 years. Given the terrain, I'm guessing a multi launch coaster, but that is an easy guess. -OR- A complete long shot- they could blow everyone away with a similar layout to the original Bat.

Bad reputation? How so?

Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season
This is a bummer. Not totally unexpected, but still a bummer. I can remember when Vortex first opened as Bat's replacement and being pleasantly surprised on how good the ride was. I expect there will be the same surprise in the coming years. There is always a plan.

What are the best Roller Coaster trailers of all time?
Not necessarily a coaster commercial, but one that always had an impact for me as a kid. It meant school was starting soon........

Injury on Copperhead Strike
http://www.fox46charlotte.com/news/local-news/copperhead-strike-at-carowinds-closed-due-to-hand-injury-sunday She had her hand "stuck in the ride"?? Sounds like a seat restraint issue, but the reports are incredibly vague (accuracy also is in question). I guess this is better than having her hand strike the ride while in motion....

Proving the safety on roller coasters?
The safety stories that always make the hair stand on the back of my neck typically consist of: "I was on x-ride & the kid never check my kid's restraint. It was up all the way up and I put it down just before going down the hill. I haven't been to x-park in years because they are unsafe & I'm never going back. The lines were too long and it was too hot. The cost of getting in is horrible and they charge for parking. The parking lot was full and we got there at noon and had to leave at 6:00pm because I have to work in the morning."

Cedar Point worst day
I can remember in 2000 when SoB first opened the issues it had. We drove from Erie PA to KI 3x before finally getting on (only to be incredibly disappointed, but that is another conversation). It's easy to have hindsight, but waiting for more than 30 minutes for a broken down MF was not a good decision. The ride has been around long enough that the bugs have been worked out long ago. The pic you took looks like an indicator light/ proxy switch replacement (possibly the proxy switch indication for the transfer track), which can take some time to tweak in just right. There are likely safety protocols in place for x-cycles needed when a device like this is replaced.
