  1. In the front seat, it is a great wooden coaster. In any other seat, count me out.
  2. Another video angle of the collapse: http://ktla.com/2014/09/08/firefighters-respond-to-report-of-fire-at-magic-mountains-colossus-roller-coaster/
  3. Nobody can tell you whether you can fit or not, because each and every person, every ride, and sometimes different seats on the same ride are all different. Some rides are least friendly to large thighs, others to large stomachs, and still others to large chests. Your best bet is to try the test seats at the rides that have them (Banshee, Delirium, and Diamondback). These are located at the entrances to each ride. On all other rides, you can ask a ride operator to enter through the exit and test-fit a seat prior to waiting in line.
  4. ^^ and ^ If KI wanted to be REALLY good, they could combine those two and sell refillable souvenir bottles that are collapsible. Then even I would probably buy one and use it every time I come.
  5. Water fountain INSIDE the restroom? I'm not usually one to worry about germs, but that... no. Just no.
  6. I would say that you can't put a specific number on it. There is really no objective way to determine success or failure here. It's all subjective. One person might already consider them a success simply because they managed to re-open. Another person might deem the venture a failure the moment they close, even if that's 20 years down the road. Ultimately, you have to decide on your own criteria for success or failure, and accept that others might disagree with you.

  8. Clearly Terpy finds washing his hair more interesting than the Golden Tickets. I agree with him. The only part of the GTAs I find interesting is Best New Ride, as it's the only category that actually seems legit to me.
  9. Or the amount of advertising dollars given to Amusement Today magazine, depending on who you ask.
  10. There's not much further it can go back. Immediately behind Action Theater is a large drop-off into a valley, and immediately behind that is The Beast.
  11. And that's what I mean. There's nothing stopping them from putting full-fledged commercials on FUNtv. My mind may be playing tricks on me, but IIRC I've already seen at least one full-length commercial for another company on FUNtv.
  12. The article clearly states, "At each park SafeAuto will have advertising opportunities [...] on televisions placed in queue lines for Halloween Haunt and HalloWeekends rides and attractions." That sure sounds like FUNtv to me.
  13. From Kings Island Expo on Facebook: The post also has a photo of the fountain, but Facebook is defeating my attempts to embed it here. I will instead present my own photo of an identical one at Kentucky Kingdom:
  14. It was an announcement. They announced that Mantis is getting "squashed", whatever that means, after October 19.
  15. No. The drink wristbands were available to the general public at any food/drink stand, not with purchase of a special admission ticket. They were $9.99 plus tax. The problems were: 1. They were never, ever advertised or promoted in any form whatsoever that I was aware of. I only found out about them by accident; I was taking cover from rain at the ice cream stand on the back of Juke Box Diner, and another KICer with me was chatting with the worker there and mentioned that they should sell all-day drink wristbands. The worker replied that they did and held up the sheet of wristbands, which I had seen lying next to registers since opening day but never figured out what they were until then. 2. There was, and maybe still is, a lot of confusion over whether they were even supposed to be offered in the first place, despite the fact that registers have buttons specifically for them. Different people have gotten different answers at different places. At least one person here was told at Guest Services late in the "regular season" that they were never supposed to be available and that they had been discontinued, but after that was posted here, I went to the park on 8/20 and was able to purchase a drink wristband (I forget who sold it to me and where) and used it throughout the day with no problems or questions. So the people in charge need to get their heads together and decide whether these should be sold, and if not, pull them from all registers.
  16. I'm hoping the event requires a paid ticket, like the June event last year did. The free event last September didn't work out well. Paid would reduce the number of people who come, but that makes it more manageable for Don and company, plus being required to pay for the ticket helps eliminate people that aren't going to pay attention to rules and such (as being financially invested in the event makes you think twice about breaking rules and potentially getting kicked out and losing your money).
  17. Speaking of fog and how thick it is, last year I was walking past the Planet Snoopy Grill through a patch of very thick fog. A group of teenage girls was walking the opposite direction toward me through the same patch of fog. As soon as I started to become visible to them (about five feet away), the girls screamed and started freaking out until I was fully visible. They thought I was a monster when they first saw my shape.
  18. I voted no because I'm in denial.
  19. The article was there earlier when Terpy posted it, but it appears to have been taken down.
  20. I imagine that that list was nothing more than a teaser and that there are no plans whatsoever to do the majority of the items on the list.
  21. ^^ Both last year and this year, it has become possible (during normal operation) to use your season pass for re-entry without needing a handstamp. This applies only to KI; CP, for one, still requires a handstamp even for passholders. I assume that passes will be tracked, and second and subsequent scans will not be allowed on Fridays or after the cut-off time on Saturdays.
  22. Already being discussed here: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/30142-tony-clark-major-announcement-on-92-at-high-noon/
