  1. Marcus LeShock is reporting on Facebook that his home park, SF Great America has ceased to enforce the $1.30 purchase surcharge and that it is going into effect at all Six Flags properties! Good move leadership! (If you don't know, Marcus is a news anchor at WGN Chicago and a coaster nerd.)
  2. Lots of good info on the podcast, I'd highly reccommend it!
  3. YOU of all people, are advocating for removal of vegetation at a Six Flags park? I NEVER thought I'd see this day!
  4. I love that noise!
  5. I'm sorry. On the bright side...Carowinds had what you wanted!
  6. Did you ask for the ICEE cup and lid? If it's that big of a deal, you could always escalate it. To me, it's not that big of a deal though. To each their own I reckon.
  7. They have turned up the lights on the floats this year. It looks like they have figured how to complete all four show stops. They are running the route up The Area Formerly Known as Coney Mall, then in front of Enrique's and air brush shop. Then behind the Eifel Tower, around to the south side of International Street, then the north side. Then back thru AP and The Area Formerly Known as Coney Mall. The show stops on International Street feature enhanced lighting effects on the buildings, pavement, trees and fountain. The float lighting are synched up to each other.
  8. Less plastic waste at Kings Island. I say bravo!
  9. Thanks for the correction...I forgot '22 was skipped in lieu of the 50th March of Celebration.
  10. People complain that the parade is too early and they can't see the lighting packages on the floats. People complain it's too late because of things like this. I prefer the later time to showcase the lighting packages. I can't speak to children's bedtime, as I have no kids. We had pretty rigid bedtime schedules when I was a child, but the one or two trips to Kings Island each year was up at 5 am and down at whatever time we got home. Three hour round trip so it was a looooonnnnngggg day. I can see now why we only did it once or twice a year
  11. This will be the fifth year. Each year, it gets degraded just a little bit more. I do think these festivals will be a key thing going forward, as they have said in previous Cedar Fair investor conference calls. But the focus may change. Wine weekends in April/may. Food fest in June. Hot summer nights in July (a bigger scale, with a parade like GC, and Oktoberfest in the fall daytime. They will have to balance spending with revenue goals, but I think they will decrease the costs by using existing infrastructure such as the synched lights, Winterfest candy cane trellises etc. The red tents can stay up all of the main season if they have several festivals. But, this is just my conjecture. Past performance does not indicate future expectations. Unless they shipped all of the things from the other parks who aren't doing it to the three that are to use it up.
  12. I have a feeling this is the last year for Grand Carnivale.
  13. Just watched the parade at Kings Dominion. Don't know if it's a new thing, but no show stops. Play the song , awkward song and the song restarts and ends when it's finished.
  14. If GFort thinks that table service meals are low, then I think that Vortex still exists at Kings Island. I prepare most meals at home for healthier eating and money savings. At a modest table place like Cheddar's or Cracker Barrel, the prices are outrageous. When you add in a tip ( and I'm generally generous, like 30-40%) it's even more expensive as @standbymepointed out. And every Skyline I've been to is a tipped restaurant. But I don't think places like Starbux, fast food or dessert places should have an obligation to have a tip. It's basically peer pressure.
  15. Id have to respectfully disagree, Chris. Getting people involved with causes can cause them to get connected. Cedar Fair charities, for example, is/was a great contributor to worthy causes. But if they just donated the $100000.00 from a roller coaster opening without having the auction, the reach would or happen. When. I did two of those, I spoke to lots of non enthusiasts and shared on my meager genx social media. Those people were exposed. ( And if I recall, the company matched all donations plus the cost of putting on the event). It's the same for 3k they host for type one diabetes, the cancer program they used to do with the pink soccer balls, etc. If this push for pencils is helping students get supplies, and taking a burden from teachers to buy supplies. There's just very little Information about it. Maybe the company is going to do a match or adopt a school via whatever Cedar Fair Charities is called now.
  16. I just a YouTube short from KIPR. It was about push for pencils. I guess this is something where people can bring pencils in for schools??? The video assumes people know what push for pencils is. It seems like they should tell us what it is rather than assume we know. I want to be clear: this is not a bash on Elizabeth or the department in general. I may have not seen other media as I don't follow TikTok. And they may have signage at the park, but I haven't been in weeks so I wouldn't know. I do miss Fun Facts Friday.
  17. I went to sfog during the time it was going on. I went for coasters, so paying an upcharge was irrelevant to me because I didn't do them. This was in 2017. Not much fog, I understand why because it's sfog after all. Scare zones were ok. The entire event didn't feel coherent and kind of saccharine. I was used to ki haunt, which was much better back then.
  18. That's pretty cool!
  19. So are you saying that "content creators" can come to KIC to post publicly available documents and give their opinions, good and bad? Would this be a loophole for them, or would kic face the wrath of the parks?
  20. New Six Flags content creator guidelines ban sharing ‘park insider information’ - Theme Park Tribune
  21. As long as people buy the passes, plans and spend money in the park, they likely will continue to do what they do. If they focused instead, on elevating the experience while raising prices, many of the problems they have would get resolved as the people who don't spend money go elsewhere and people who do have the money to spend, spend money. Saleem, as much as he's mocked, had a good idea. He just didn't implement it well. Elevate the experience, then raise your prices. He wanted to move from Walmart customers to target customers. Kings Island should strive to move from a aldi customer to a whole foods customer.
  22. Maybe it's a survey marker for a saloon or for future brew festival structure. Might as well have another bar in the park!
  23. In the latest update, many people on the KISP Facebook page are commenting about the smells in the play area. Smells range from mildew to cat urine to sweat to dropped food to feet. One person claimed to see human stool! The leading theory is that no sunlight doesn't allow it to dry out and things linger. However, I take the cat urine smell with a grain of salt. Many people there also claim the landscape bushes also smell of cat urine...all over the park!
