  1. Personally, I'm glad that the large trees were removed. They ruined the forced perspective of the buildings. One thing that has always struck me looking at old photos of International Street is how wide, open, and grandiose it looked. I'm very happy that we're getting that feeling and look back.
  2. Millions of people fly over the park every year. This very website has aerial photos taken during the off-season!
  3. Photos taken from airplanes/helicopters are legal and should not be frowned upon. Millions of people fly over the park every year. As a matter of fact, this very website has an entire album of unofficial aerial photos.
  4. I think that the main issue (to me at least) is that there is a giant, very visible, vacant building right on the main midway. That is "bad show" as they would say at Disney. I have the same feelings toward the KillMart building as well. The reason no one really has a problem with Slaughterhouse or Blackout is because they are off the beaten path enough IMO. Guests understand that those buildings are used for mazes--they have signage on them. If you knew nothing about Kings Island and visited the park for the first time, what would your thoughts be of the park if you saw two large abandoned buildings?
  5. It was like a little stand selling corn on the cob and turkey legs(?) IIRC.
  6. I rode Icon at Blackpool Pleasure Beach this past summer. It was not the most intense coaster I've ever ridden, but it was still a ton of fun.
  7. Here is the forensics report. SOB Inspection Report 10-30-06.pdf
  8. 1982. That was also the same year the concrete walls and planters were added and the sidewalks were removed.
  9. Yes, the park would have made the same decision. Son of Beast had become such a PR story in the Cincinnati area that even if Kings Island spent millions renovating and updgrading it, one minor hiccup would have become instant front-page news. Ultimately, it was that fact that led to the ride's demolition in the first place.
  10. It is true that Cedar Fair had a slow start to the 2018 season in general. But that does not mean that attendance is on a permanent decline and will be until we get a giga, as you suggested.
  11. I'd like to see the statistics that you have for this.
  12. That’s the same video that was released when this project was first announced in January. I believe someone already posted on here a more recent photo showing all the trees gone.
  13. Off the top of my head, many of the thrill rides at Disneyland have pouches (Space Mountain and Indiana Jones Adventure immediately come to my mind). They work very well and dispatches are still very efficient.
  14. Raptor at Cedar Point is probably the worst I've ever been on. I found it to be violently rough, to the point that it left physical bruises on me. The Big One at Blackpool Pleasure Beach is also pretty awful. Very rough and incredibly boring.
  15. The ride was referred to as "America's champion roller coaster" in press releases, but I don't believe Champion was ever seriously considered as the name. I do know that "The Runaway" was very close to becoming the official name.
  16. Firehawk’s station is gone. From Wild Gravity Travels on Facebook (circle added by me).
  17. Disneyland’s Main Street, U.S.A. still has a sidewalk. I’m sure Kings Island can make it work.
  18. Patriotism isn't bad, but those flags could be relocated somewhere else. They disrupt the clean visual sight line of the fountain and tower.
  19. I had a really great season. Here is a review of this year! http://kingsislandghosts.blogspot.com/2018/12/2018-kings-island-year-in-review.html
  20. They aren’t hints for future attractions; they’re just fun Easter eggs.
  21. Have you even ridden it? It's small in size, but it packs quite a wallop. $15 million is not a small investment like you seem to think.
  22. It was added for this Winterfest to prevent it from valleying like last year.
  23. I don't know when you last visited, but Banshee is not Kings Island's last major coaster installation. As far as wing coasters, I've only ridden GateKeeper but I thought that the ride experience (outside of the near-miss elements) felt nearly identical to Banshee.
