psisat
I was last there at the end of July, Entering the park for ERT(Plat Pass) the restrooms were disgusting. First time to the park since CedarFair took over. I would expect this condition after a day of use, not first thing in the morning. I did see a CF mgr and had a good talk with him about it and other problems, hope he listened. First post here in 10 years.
XjoshhyX
I've personally never had much of an issue with them. I tend to use the same few (Festhaus, the one between Beast/Vortex, and Reds HOF Grille) and have had no issues in the past few years.
DeltaFlyer
I just *tried* to use the restroom next to Vortex and WindSeeker- I was greeted by fecal matter smeared all over the floors and the walls. The stench was unbearable and left me running out of there retching. I told someone working at WS to call park services. You couldn’t pay me enough to clean that up... At the park and otherwise, what is the worst thing you’ve seen done to a restroom?

I spend most of my time at an Elementary School, and you don't even want to know. There's some crazy little kids headed our way! At Kings Island? Not much. But I've heard stories from my wife about the girls side though...lol.

medford
To be fair, it should happen NEVER, so even once is more than it should. I can't even fathom what would posses someone to grab a hold of a turd and wipe it on the walls.
Magenta Lizard
Really that sentence could have stopped at “grab a hold of a turd.” I’m pretty impressed with how well KI typically keeps up with the restrooms. Most times I go into one, there is an employee currently cleaning, which leads me to believe they tend to assign an employee to every restroom, which is quite a bit of labor expense. Typically the worst I’ve seen in there is an unflushed toilet.

Not sure how it's currently done, when I was in the department the bathrooms were broken up as such: International Street: Inside and outside front gate bathrooms Action Zone: Festhaus, Banshee, Coney: Oktoberfest & Vortex Rivertown: Rivertown Larosas, Diamondback & Brewhouse Snoopy: Planet Snoopy, Picnic Grove & Family Care Center Boomerang Bay: Restrooms + Shower House There would be some shifting, from time to time, and doubling up on areas, but for the most part, there is one attendant per bathroom plus a Supervisor in the area who checks in on them as well. At the end of the night the bathrooms are cleaned and shutdown, the mats are pulled up and washed, replaced in the morning when they open. Edited July 17, 2019 by teenageninja Forgot Picnic Grove. 1

Bathroom floors would be deep cleaned and pressure washed on a rotating schedule every morning before the park would open as well. At least that was the case when I worked there about 6 years ago. BeeastFarmer
While I am not a janitorial supply specialist, I think many of the problems with the men's rooms could be fixed easily. First, if the customers would use the garbage cans, flush, and aim better. The customers could solve many of the problems. However, the park could take some short and long term solutions to fix the problems. In the short term, they could leave the doors open like in years past. It would allow some air circulation and also make it more sanitary. I dread having to touch a door handle after washing my hands. They could also use different urinal mats. I've noticed at Pilot truck stops (where I stop to gas up on the way to KI), they have started using a mat that is thicker with multiple fingers. This traps the urine and prevents splash. Longer term, the park should really look at putting electric eyes that will flush the urinals and toilets. This would solve the problem of non flushers, and for myself, the gross factor of touching a flusher that someone else has touched, and the thing they touched right before that cannot be mentioned in this forum. They also need to look at refitting the restrooms with climate control. Evidently they install temporary heat for Winterfest, it appears there are HVAC vents in the buildings. Bite the bullet, heat in the winter, cold air in the summer. I really do feel bad for the attendants in this hot weather. If I see one, I try to thank him. I am sure it is a thankless job.

As a former bar/ restaurant owner, this is 100% accurate. I can't tell you how many times I would find a "product" sticking to the side of the stall- and there were separate cans in each stall for these....
BeeastFarmer
During the college years, I spent a summer in Hampton Beach, NH. I worked at McDonald's doing am maintenance. The restrooms were outside, so at 0400, after having coffee, I cleaned them. The women's room was disgusting. So was the men's but I could stand back and hose it down. Lol. For every guy that doesn't pull up the seat, there are 10 women who squat over a seat. Hard to believe, but their aim isn't great.
Outdoor Man
should be easy for the guys side... if you can't aim... don't use the toilet to urinate. There are usually twice as many urinals to toilets. If you can't aim for the large porcelain "wall" in front of you and proceed to dribble on the floor... you may need to see a doctor about that. If you must stand and urinate in a toilet and "miss"... mop up after yourself Don't throw a bunch of things into the toilet to clog it because it's "funny"... no one is laughing. FLUSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't work for KI, but If I come in and witness someone not abiding by my 5 simple rules above- I will CALL YOU OUT very audibly and very publically. super7
Most of the restrooms have a urine smell to them. A few have been updated (maim entrance, Coney-Oktoberfest) but most look like they have their original interior. Cedar Point, the so-called flagship park is even worse! Theme park restrooms can be clean and not smell bad. Busch Gardens Williamsburg accomplishes that.

It is very much possible to use the restroom without spreading urine and feces onto the seat and/or floor. I'd reckon more often than not, it is someone who is capable and should know better. Magenta Lizard
When KI starts charging as much as they currently do for a gold pass which lets you in every operating day, for one day admission, maybe we can compare them to Universal or Disney. If you want Disney level service, expect Disney level prices. Personally I think gold passes are way less expensive than they should be, because even though they can be purchased for the price of a 2-5 evenings at nearly any other entertainment venue, people think they’ve bought some sort of exclusive privilege. Getting in ~100 operating days for $100 is your privilege. Having a dedicated employee cleaning every restroom during every operating day is pretty darn great already. I don’t know how I can have gone almost thirty days so far this year and not have encountered the restrooms that are so terrible, especially since women’s restrooms are supposed to be far worse than the men’s.
BeeastFarmer
I know I have made some posts in this thread, but I am not expecting Disney level service at Kings Island. But I do get an excellent value for my money. I do think some relatively minor enhancements can help the restroom situation. I cannot speak for the women's restrooms, of course, but in general, the men's rooms are pretty bad. I do know at Kentucky Kingdom, with proportionally less guests than KI, the restrooms are ice cold, which circulates the air and reduces the stench down to normal public restroom levels. Of course, if the public would use proper restroom etiquette, then the problem at KI would lessen too. But it's hard enough for some guys to even follow proper urinal protocol, so I remain jaded. http://urinalman.com/
