Cedar Point 2016 Talk

Bigger question....are there any footers poured at CP? I haven't seen any pictures anywhere of footers. I don't think they would deliver pieces to sit around the park until footers are ready.

^True, but they also waited pretty long to start pouring them for Gatekeeper as well.  CP's off season is one of the longer off seasons for parks as well, so they can probably get by waiting a little bit.

Would the sticker say "Country of Origin: USA" on something that wasn't leaving the country? I seem to recall previous discussions on here saying that that line did not appear on track that was to stay in the States. Or is my mind making things up?

Country of origin is where it came from, not destination, so of course it's going to say USA [emoji14]

I know that. :P I was thinking that the country of origin declaration was something needed for passage through customs, which would be why it might only appear on track headed to foreign parks. But as others have pointed out, apparently not. :)

For now, it seems as if things are looking up for Cedar Point......

.....but just wait about 15 days......

.....And there's a good possibility that everything will be diving down......

Things took a weird turn tonight when someone noticed that a "Cedar Point VR" app was being shown in the Google Play store.  It's now been pulled, but you can still view the app page from the Google cache.  The app was offered by Cedar Fair.

Well.....Here's a little "left-over" tidbit about the "VR" app.....

The description by Cedar Fair reads : "Get ready to experience Cedar Point VR. Cardboard compatible. Learn more August 18th!"

It also seems as though the download page for the "VR" app is currently under construction on the Cedar Point site:

Well I guess we know what part of the announcement will be, at least.....

I don't get it. What's so interesting about the Mean Streak entrance? What am I missing here?

I'm very confused.

Even after reading an article about the VR thing, I still don't understand it...at all.

And what's this Mean Streak picture about?

^If CP was really doing a RMC conversion of Mean Streak, it'd be closed already, especially given its size.

For those wondering what "Cardboard compatible" means, it's likely a reference to Google Cardboard. However, this makes no sense, given that holding up a phone to view something while riding a coaster is extremely dangerous and against park rules.

You're going to be able to experience Centurvalravion™ before it opens in 2016 with the new Cedar Point© VR app! Available only from Cedar Fair. Experience all of the exciting twists and turns of Centurvalravion™ like never before! Download the app today!

In no way is it dangerous or against park rules if every seat is equipped with a clamp style holder, mounted to the trains chassis, much like a GoPro mount.  Adjustable arm, like the ones on the machines at the Optometrist, make it 100% feasible and safe, as far as "loose items" go.

I believe you're looking at it the wrong way. This app will be for viewing POVs in a VR setting when you're not at the park. What WindingSon posted four above me is basically what I am thinking here.

On a sidenote some of the trailers are now gone from CSF. Not the trailers containing track but the normal semi trailer which probably includes hardware. Also looks like Mako track/supports are starting to emerge

No url? Either way, very easy to spoof a webpage. With certain developer tools you can change a website locally and take a picture and say hey look what I found. Just pointing out a fact and what has been done in the past. ;)
