kingsislandfan1972 Posted February 9 Share Posted February 9 I'm actually surprised that Xtreme Skyflyer is still at Kings Island ever since the Slingshot was removed, which gets me thinking about how popular Xtreme Skyflyer actually is and how much longer do you think it will last at Kings Island? As long as nothing large comes up maintenance wise, and as long as nothing is planned to take its spot currently, I don't see it going anywhere. My family from out of town always rides it when visiting KI, and it definitely seems to get enough traffic to pay for the employees running the attraction as well. I would say it still scares me the most out of any attraction at KI. The one at Canadas Wonderland is slightly newer having been built the year after Kings Island. https://www.canadaswonderland.com/rides-experiences/xtreme-skyflyer I would be surprised if the one at Kings Island is still around in 10 years. The entire area where it is located is ready for a complete remodel and the skyflyer is getting old, and sitting on a very good piece of land. I feel like the next big new coaster at Kings Island will be located in what is currently Action Zone and either the sky flyer or Congo falls will be removed to make room for the station. The problem with Action Zone is half the land feels like it’s ready to be removed, Invertigo, Congo Falls, Timber Wolf, and Skyflyer. I keep seeing people asking how much longer do any of these attractions have. Seems like with the cost of staffing it and maintaining it, it can't be bringing in much. And considering that number of riders, it doesn't have much value attracting people to the park. Re-read it - it says they did 50,000 riders for that season, not over 15 years. Even if all of those rides were the cheap $10/person, that is $500,000. Given many of the rides would have been more expensive, it probably pulls $750,000 or so, maybe even closer to $1M with all the busy $25/$30 rides per person days I have seen on the weekends when that queue is full. If it wasn't profitable they would drop it quick as I am sure none of the revenue coming in from other sources goes towards this attraction and it is probably self sustaining. Sometimes it would hit $15.00 per person on weekends.... and rarely hit $20.00 per person only on holiday crowd days (4th of July). Maybe it's different now? It did look like when the ride is only 1 sided it operates with 4 team members, and when it was 2 sided it required 7 team members. + breaks you would have 8 or 9 team members. + the games team member selling the tickets. purdude86 Posted February 16 Share Posted February 16 I enjoy it when I ride it and if it’s making money for them makes sense to keep, but hate its location. Being right in the middle of Action Zone limits additions/expansions/redos of the area. I don’t see them spending money to move it but would like to see it moved to the field next to Flight of Fear in Area 72 and themed to a training thing.
