Losantiville Mining Co. Posted June 7 Posted June 7 I had some good LaRosa's Pizza today in the Festhaus. It was super hot and delicious, though the higher temperature and humidity of the room itself severely dampened my experience. I contemplated getting the Big Dog, but didn't see it until I had already grabbed the plate of pepperoni pizza. The tables were all clean and the trash cans were far from overflowing. My ice cold Coca-Cola provided some well needed relief from the oppressive heat in the venue. Photo of the Festhaus entree menu for those interested in such things. Shockingly (to me) the regular pizza slices are not listed on this view of the menu board. The building could use a major renovation to create better guest flow and capacity, but the park has other problems to worry about at the moment. Some industrial fans would also be very welcome. Losantiville Mining Co. Posted June 7 Posted June 7 I decided to try the Big Dog Basket at the Festhaus today since I skipped it yesterday. It was not as good as I'd hoped and nowhere near the quality I was used to from the Brewhouse. The fries were sliding off of the plate (I'm glad I got a tray) and while everything was fully cooked, I could tell it had been sitting there for a little bit. I'd have given some more leeway for the quality if it wasn't 1:30PM on a Sunday. There's a new(?) sign at the exit of the left refreshment stand telling guests to use the station on the other side that looked really nice. My Coca-Cola was also good. The temperature and humidity in the building was even worse today. I can't imagine how it must feel performing on that stage with such poor airflow. Quote
BeeastFarmer Posted June 7 Posted June 7 I wonder if Kings Island could look into Big Ass Fans for the Festhaus. Those things will move air! Quote
beastfan11 Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Has the Jersey Dog special at the Brewhouse yesterday. Definitely worth a try. Really enjoyed it. Brought me back to the days of the footlong cheese coneys they used to have at the stand where Mystic Timbers’ entrance is now. Good times. Quote
Swiftdrawer Posted June 9 Posted June 9 I have been really impressed with how quickly theyve been getting people through the line at the Festhaus LaRosa’s as of late. The last handful of times Ive had pizza there, they churned through guests so fast that I was treated to very fresh and hot pizza. It tastes so much better that way(after cooling down for just a couple minutes). Skyline’s taste and quality never changes but I waited like 15 minutes after ordering to get my food from there shortly before park closing on Saturday night. I understand that Skyline’s a serious hustle to work at and can relate to an extent due to how brutal my shift was at my job on Sunday and being threatened with being written up yesterday if I didnt do a task Ive only done partially once a twice. But Ive been getting meals there since spring 2014 with the dining plan every single year. It took so long to get my food there that a few minutes in, most people who I saw waiting when I starting waiting had already gotten their food with no more than 7 other people than me waiting for their food after that. Cant speak on pizza at Soak City because I havent been there yet this year because my job has me working on a schedule where the days I work change week after week and sometimes, I get completely random different starting and/or ending times for my shifts than Im used to. And also partly because I went to a convention 2 weekends ago where over $18,000 was raised for charity and it was a blast. Anyway, I CAN speak on Sweet Spot treats more than before. The creme bruleé(however thats spelled) cookie was really good, I got to have it hot and fresh, made from scratch. The Phantom Theater Popcorn Tart is really good. I just wish the cream in it was distinct in taste from the cream used in other treats Ive tried at Sweet Spot this year. There is a uniformity in cream in some of the treats. The Snickerdoodle bite was really good, it was like a frozen cookie dough treat. I loved eating refrigerated cookie dough as a kid and theres edible cookie dough sold in places like Jungle Jim’s. The Cookies N Cream tres leches or whatever its called was really good as well. So far, my top 2 favorites are that creme bruleé cookie at number two and the Neopolitian ice cream sandwich(which is the best value of all the treats in that shelf when looking at it from how muchmass and volume it contains versus its cost and comparing that to the other treats. Dont have to measure its mass or volume, you just have to look at it and the other treats.) at number one so far. I will note that a lot of the times Ive had treats at Sweet Spot this year, many of their treats have been well decimated due to me usually getting treats from there after 8 PM and one of those times, my sibling and I waited like 10 minutes for someone to come and ask what treats we wanted and what not. We were there at the front of the line just standing there, bored. 1 Quote
Losantiville Mining Co. Posted June 9 Posted June 9 Speaking of the dining plan, I wonder if we will see the 1-Meal/day plan also come to Kings Island now that Memberships have made their way across the chain. I think that one was about $99 at Magic Mountain rather than the $155 for the 2-Meal/day plan. The quality of everything F&B related has improved so much since the program began in 2014. I'll also say that the dining plans also set Six Flags apart from their competition with how easy it is for families to come to the park, even if they only go 4-5 times per year. So far this season I've effectively paid off my All-Season Dining Plan and my All-Season Drink Plan. I'll admit that I'm part of the minority that "abuses" the dining plan. (It's not really abuse, it's using something we paid for while other guests barely use half the value of theirs.) 1 Quote

Losantiville Mining Co. Posted June 14 Posted June 14 That's refreshing to read! Honestly if the park would like to complete a little renovation to help the Festhaus' A/C, I think all they would need to do is build a small vestibule in the rear entrance. Keeping the doors closed would also help. On my last visit I noticed that, despite the high heat, a lot of doors around the park were propped open instead of being closed with "Cool off inside!" signs on them. Quote

Exit doors are generally closed and shouldn’t need them as much. Quote

jdf21972 Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Just a small update to breakfast as I don't see it been announced on here, but as late June they now offer either bacon or sausage patty meat option on the breakfast sandwich. I've had the sausage a few times and has not disappointed and have noticed a few differences is that the croiffels are bit smaller now not a quarter size but more a 1/6 size given. Still, I do enjoy having breakfast at the park and hoping it gets expanded next year into Grain & Grill for more options, and gives more seating area and more exposure directly at the front of the park. Chef Bailey definitely has done a great job with this new food offering. 2 Quote
silver2005 Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Now they just have to add the Skyline breakfast items. 😉 Quote
Losantiville Mining Co. Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Something interesting I noticed during my meal at the Brewhouse today is that the receipt now lists the official Dining Plan "price" of each meal as $9.50 and the "price" of a Drink Plan cup refill at $2.75. This is down from $11.00 and up from $2.00 respectively. Before those prices (around 2024) they were $12.00 and $2.50 respectively. I'd love to know why they keep changing. This technically might mess up my dining plan usage spreadsheet, but I will continue to use the $11 and $2 "price" since that's what the season started out with. (I put "price" in quotation marks because in reality you don't pay anything at the register, nor is a number decreasing within an account.) My classic Pub Burger and Coca-Cola were really good by the way. The only complaint is that the patties were super misaligned between the buns during assembly, but I fixed it quite easily. Quote

Losantiville Mining Co. Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Which is a very good thing. Even at $400, redeeming 40 meals comes to $10.00 each at the end of the season (as opposed to $155/40 meals = $3.88 per meal). Those of us who use it even more already know how to make it worth it. Same with those who buy the 20 or 30 meal options. The biggest change will actually be the cost per pass and what parks it will work at. Great Adventure released their 2027 add-on lineup alongside the announcement of Bakunawa. I've posted a breakdown of their 2027 add-on programs in the Other Theme Parks portion of this website in case you'd like to read more official information. Quote

This year the meal plan was over 200 for 2 meals 4 hours apart. If what was seen on Canada's website is to be believed it is now $399 for unlimited meals each day 2 hours apart (almost double the amount of meals but you could theoretically get 5 meals a day (6 during haunt). This is the kind of thing they have to do to get rid of "giving away the gate" in my opinion for season passes. For example getting a gold pass should cost $150-$160 and bee good for the "region" but only with unlimited visits to your "home park" (the website you bought the pass from) for the other parks in the region you get 20 visits each (drink plans and meal plans would work at all regional parks). This would keep people from taking advantage of the Canada exchange rate hack or buying a gold pass from another park. In my opinion KI could easily make more money even with a 20% drop in gold pass sales and it would keep gold passes + meal plans from being used as a cheap baby sitter during the summer. Just my 2 cents. Quote

Just my 2 cents. I think that’s actually a pretty good idea with the amount of park clicks matching the amount of dining clicks except for unlimited at your home park. I do wish they would get rid of the regional thing and have HomePark SILVER, Pick 3-4 parks GOLD, All Parks PLATINUM (or whatever you want to call them. Dining and drinks would work the same. The Home park could have a true “Summer pass” that’s just Memorial-Labor day, no free parking, no discount. There are people that geographically live closer to parks out of their region than ones in and it would be nice to have that option. Dining and drinks plans follow with dining, dining plus and dining deluxe being an add on for each pass type at related prices. If you have pick a park gold, you have to have gold dining basic, plus, deluxe etc, but it works at the 3 parks you choose. Quote
BeeastFarmer Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago If they did that, hard pass for me. I'm fine with paying a higher pass price and add ones if it's worth it, but it's becoming more and more less valuable to me. Silver...home only. Gold...regional. Platinum...chain wide. Each pass could have a premium level as well. Eliminate the variables ( parking not included, access to Scary Farm not included etc) Finally, why is buying a pass from Canada such a big deal? The company still gets its money. If people never blabbed about it publicly, it might could still work for people. If folks are of the opinion that US residents doing this are costing the company money, then they should raise the Canadian prices to be approximately the same price as the US top tier parks. Quote

I’m good with this. I agree get rid of the limits and no variables in price park to park. It is what it is. You live closer to a flagship park than a second tier- luck of the draw. I only offer the “pick a park” as a selfish. Regardless you should get %50 off gate price for any park and free parking. Also I like the idea of VIP add on for all tiers so if you don’t care about those benefits, you don’t pay for them at the platinum level. Dining and drink should still relate to the parks you can visit with total number of clicks being able to be redeemed at any park you can go to on your pass- not with discounted tickets. Quote

DoomPlague Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago As someone who isn't able to visit the park as much as locals, a cheaper 20 meal would make sense to for me but...it would need to include other parks or at least have a reasonable way to add other parks. I'm lucky if I even get close to 20 meals in the year. I like the discount idea but I'm not sure "double discounts" is attractive enough. I've thought for a while that it would be nice to have a cheaper option that gives a big discount on food and beverage, especially it it works on any food and non-alcoholic drink item. With the 2 hour intervals on the "unlimited" plan, it would be nice if they made it like the premium dining plan and let you pick snack options as an alternative. Quote

The more people the more you can drive up the price (we do still believe in capitalism, right?). However not only does Cedar Point have less people living around it (much less), the cost of living within a 30 mile radius of the park is lower than that around KI (or Canada). It's a way of trying to avoid "giving away the gate" without hurting pass sales at other SIX properties. Quote

That's why I stopped with them. Legacy CF was much simpler...but now with this idea, it makes it even more complex. The best thing I could see is raising the price of a silver pass and giving two tickets at a regional pass from may thru September. Same thing gold, except it's all north American parks. (Side note, is Mexico a separate fee like the new park at Quiddya?). You are giving an upsell opportunity to the next highest tier. What's ultimately going to happen, in my conjecture, is one of two things: 1. Bankruptcy to shed debt before the next maturity date. 8 or 9 parks left after this 2. Drastic downsize of portfolio to raise money to retire debt before the next maturity date. Bankruptcy seems to be the path of least resistance. Quote
