Six Flags Entertainment is heading back to where its story began. The company plans to relocate its corporate headquarters from Charlotte, North Carolina, to Arlington, Texas, in 2027, consolidating leadership and shared business functions at its existing Choctaw Stadium offices. Six Flags says the move will bring corporate leadership closer to park operations, including its five Texas properties, while improving collaboration and efficiency across its network of 34 parks and nine resorts. Arlington has deep ties to the company as the home of Six Flags Over Texas, which opened more than six decades ago. The transition is expected to be completed by March 2027, while Six Flags will maintain an office in Sandusky, Ohio, and continue investing in Carowinds and Carolina Harbor in the Charlotte area.

I wonder what brought on this change? Seems they just got settled in Charlotte.

I was thinking the same thing. I get not having the main offices in Sandusky due to lack of a major nearby airport, but Charlotte seems like a fairly major city. And the current offices in Charlotte are just down the road from Carowinds. If they already have office space in both Dallas and Charlotte, maybe the consolidation is a way to save costs with only having to pay for one lease instead of two. Or they got better tax incentives from Texas/Dallas than they did Charlotte/NC.

I'm pretty sure Charlotte was a preference of Zimmerman. Now that the CEO, COO, CFO have all swapped over, there may be preference for a different location. I will say, having been to Choctaw Stadium, that office location is really neat. And considering the growing Dallas region with potential for year round operation, it makes sense for the move. Honestly while Carowinds is a nice park, I don't know if I would really call it a flagship park.

Lots of companies have been moving their HQ to Texas for tax breaks and the fact that they have no state income tax.

I also guarantee they are doing this to consolidate jobs. Keep in mind they had the Corporate head count to manage all of the parks prior to the sales this year, they don't need as many resources now.

It also opens up Carowinds in the mix for a sell off regardless of their statement "continue investing in Carowinds and Carolina Harbor in the Charlotte area" ....

And say what you want about CF owning and controlling the slim majority....watch what they do and not what they say....just one more step towards becoming more the Six Flags way than they Cedar Fair way....

I can see Carowinds being sold. Nobody wants the lemons so they need to add an apple or two in the basket.

At this point I'd be happy if some billionaire who likes theme parks comes and buys the 4 former Paramount Parks and starts another KECO. Maybe us fans should start a petition and campaign for it

Carowinds was one of the ten parks that brought back their park president, but like you guys have said, watch what they do not what they say.

I just want our Flying Eagles back from Carowinds. 😁

I remember when people went to parks to have a day of fun and thrills with no thought or care as to who owned the park, where the corporate office was located, who the CEO was. The only thing that mattered was having fun with family and friends.

Even with this corporate move I still think the Cedar Fair playbook is still being used a lot more than the legacy Six Flags playbook. As was said above, Texas is generally becoming a more corporation-friendly state since they're trying to entice businesses to move there. This feels like a cost-saving measure than a "Six Flags is continuing to ruin everything" move. If they already had all of the space they needed in one city then there's no reason why they should stay in both. Of course there will still be a lot of folks who lament this move and claim that it's another reason why the companies never should have merged. Call me crazy, but I still trust John Reilly and his team.

They can include Fiesta Texas or Knott's as a fifth park to offset the loss of CGA ;)

Theme Park Brandon took an alarmist take on this news.

I'm a natural pessimist, and this feeds in to this.

It also seems to me like a sign that certain parks, including both Ohio parks, might not get anything for a while, not even flat rides.

It's starting to make me rethink my 2027 plans, which were to buy a Prestige Pass and do a Texas park run next summer.

But looking looking at the way things are going, I might not even renew Gold, with my summer 2027 focus being the parks of Missouri, especially if St. Louis gets ArieForce One.

Hopefully I can get some better answers before the initial pass purchase deadlines. I just want to get the most out of my passes.

How perfectly said. I had the same impression. But I went several years ago, so I want to be more specific: pre herschend KK. Fun, charming in ways, but small.
