Seems to me there's a lot of jumping to conclusions here. The investigation is not yet complete. The company will evaluate alternatives and make a safe, prudent decision. These things take time.3 points

With all the delays those have suffered, they might not want to announce them again until they're delivered, on the track, and tested.2 points

I emailed Paula to ask if these were being removed. Here is her response: I also got permission from her to post the response here.2 points

NO NOT UNDER AE! That's part of the mystique. For most of the ride you can't see the path. (Until a wild FOF appears I spose)2 points

I don't know why the Barbara Streisand song is as funny as it is to me, but it is. Suddenly, I regret never having seen the Ed Alonzo show this summer... EDIT: Turns out you can make your own version of Barbara Streisand. Click. (I'm going to ignore the fact that they spell it "Barbra"... It's the darnest thing.) EDIT again: Turns out it actually is spelled Barbra. MOVING ON.2 points

First point, I think it was foolish to buy so many prototypes without knowing how they would react. Next point, I don't agree with the humidity theory, although it was a good thought. That doesn't hold up at Knotts where there is practically none year round. Last point, major modification on all of them to prevent the sway and the amount of down time they have had and delayed opening. I've said this before, my last ride on the one at KI was a bit unnerving-it was windy and the thing didn't want to come down. I honestly thought we were gonna get stuck. Perhaps its my age and such, but I'm not sure I will be getting back on if it does reopen. I want to hear a reasonable mechanical explanation for this and unless I'm comfortable and it makes sense, I will not be getting back on it.2 points

I'd not even joke about defects in a park ride if I worked for a park or loved the park industry. The Internet is read by all kinds of people who do not understand sarcasm or context, especially if they don't want to. Posts just like the cartoonic ones above have been used in court before to attempt to show a park or ride company knew or should have known of ride defects. After all, even the public knew.2 points

The problem with all the Wind Seekers is they are using cheap sprockets that were not made to the correct specs. If they had used sprockets from Spacely Sprockets, they would not have the problem. Spacely's best employee, George Jetson would had made sure it would had been made to the correct specifications.2 points

Am I the only one who couldn't care less about getting a Giga? Even a coaster for that matter. The big bad coaster war is over, friends. Here's to a new dark ride in 2014! Wishful thinking...2 points

No it doesn't for me. I actually just checked and he is indeed correct about the Google Earth KI update. Google Maps and Google Earth are not the same thing. To clarify: Google Maps, which is the online service that you view through your web browser at maps.google.com, still shows the imagery from July 1, 2010. Google Earth, which is the downloadable program that you install on your hard drive, is the one that has been updated with imagery from August 29, 2012. On a side note, I wish the pictures had been taken while the park was open. I like seeing all the tiny people in the park, looking for the trains on the roller coasters, etc.2 points

Disclaimer: i am usually 99% tongue-in-cheek on this site and very rarely take a serious counter-point to someone's view- and I don't mean to make an issue of this but wanted to take a moment to chime in on this. If a ride such as WS were to stall out at 300'... there has to be a quicker way to bring them down to earth. Personally I have been on the ride 3-4 times this year- enjoy the ride (no my favorite, but a decent ride). My digestive system is such that if I were "trapped" in a situation and not able to get out for 3 hours... there'd be problems. I've had these problems most of my 39 year life and have learned to manage them- 3 hours is outside my manageable time frame. So, as to say, people who may have issue with the length of time getting down aren't sissies as stated. I know that you're probably not looking at it from this perspective- but this issue, while probably doesn't affect the overall "safety" of the ride, it will affect my decision making process when determining "if" I will ride again. Hopefully their "investigation" goes into contingency plans of how to bring the gondola down quicker- or I may have possibly taken my last ride on WS. Just thoughts from the balcony.1 point

I should probably also clarify that I didn't mean to make fun of people's fears/complaints about the WindSeeker breakdowns. I was just playing at translating all the SoB topics of conversation from the last three years to being about WindSeeker. I love coasters, but being at any significant height for an extended amount of time (e.g. most observation or Drop Towers) makes me fairly nervous, to the place where my hands sweat pretty severely and I have to hold onto something or stay as close to the center of the observation deck as possible. I would not enjoy being stuck at the top of WindSeeker for any amount of time, and I definitely agree with the sentiment that it shouldn't take hours and hours to get people off the ride when it breaks down. With the minimalist seats and restraints, that would be terrifying, at least for me--there's nowhere to lean that would make me feel any more comfortable about being stuck 301 feet in the air with my feet dangling freely.1 point
-
^ But I can see WindSeeker's seats on Google Maps! Clearly, KI just refuses to make a decision about the ride! Seriously, all those people complaining about how long it took to get the people down are sissies. They clearly just rode it on a bad day. I got stuck on WindSeeker once for like three hours. It was awesome. Best flat ride I've ever been on. (Hopefully that's everything?) EDIT: A clarification after reconsidering The Interpreter's post a page or two ago: I'm kidding.1 point

I highly doubt that CF plans to use it's own funds if it comes to having to remove these rides.1 point

30 years from 2043 what will we see at CONEY ISLAND.? My prediction the street car will run right to the outside of the gates of Coney Island. B&B riverboats will have a Memorial day through Labor day Banks, Levy, Coney 3 stop cruise/ from 9am till 9pm . Fireworks competition, will be so huge that its nationally televised. The baloon glow is so big that it Rivals New Mexicos Hot air baloon fest. Across the street from Coney on the wooded hill side is Western town for COney, full of rides, a western town connected by a new Lake Como/Coney train, with real shootouts, a western village with crafts, and more. Sunlite water Park will have opened, across the street also. A parking structure has been built for Riverbend that now has a 3rd stage for even smaller audiences. Coney island now has 1.5 million people through its turnstiles. Yogi Bear and Jelly Stone Camping is built along that area of Coney Island. Shooting star gives its 50 millonth rider Lost River is rethemed to Bear landing at the river. The Biggest German Restraunt and Beer gardens opens outside of Munich, from American fare food, to german its all Natti/ German fun for the family so popular their is a entrance outside the gates. CONEY ISLAND SOCCER STADIUM OPENS for teh new CONEY ISLAND NATTI RAPTORS professional Soccer team..( Sure pike dreams, my thoughts, and ideas, but inspiration for a vision mission and passion. Go Coney Island cincinnati!1 point

^Agreed. I'd like a connecting pathway between Action Zone and X-Base, like many on here.1 point

I don't know about that... If you remember correctly, about 3-4 years ago- George Jetson lost his 30 year+ gig with Kings Island along with the rest of the Hanna Barbera crew... I'm betting he has a chip on his shoulder and a score to settle.1 point

The good ol' days, when the park had a clear vision of what it should be. No mega expansion, no mega licenses, no mega prices. A local picnic park with beautiful grounds, a solid ride collection, and a price that the locals could afford.1 point

Well, wow...this is far, far more than I was expecting...Splashin' Safari gets even better next year with RHINO Blaster (great slide name!), and they just got Mammoth to boot...a new teacup ride for Holiday World...new shows...Pilgrims Plunge getting re-named Giraffica (not the best name ever, but neither was its old one, so...), a after-dark light show...new dive show stadium...and the price tag isn't as extreme as I expected at $6.5 million, either... Consider me suprised...and impressed. Holiday World really seems to know what they're doing...here's their cool new for 2013 youtube video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocLKj8pYNW4&feature=youtu.be Holiday World, please, keep being this awesome for years to come...1 point

Rumor has it that Brenda Walker isn`t actually the owner of Coney anymore. I can`t confirm this, but I did hear rumblings that Ron Walker Jr, her son, had taken ownership of the park from her. Also, Coney serves a purpose besides just the pool and amusement rides. It is the parking and food concessionaire for Riverbend Music Center. That is a very lucrative business for Coney that few realize it has.1 point

KD would not renew Platinum Passes except in person at the park. So, for the first time in at least 15 years, I do not have a Cedar Fair pass. Mr. Reid-Anderson & Co. have benefited from Cedar Fair's policies in my case. I may well purchase a Dorney Park Platinum Pass for next year. Not sure yet.1 point

Was it you working on Saturday night the 16th at about 10? I remember my friend told the chainsaw guy about a joke she made to the guy holding the chicken, and she was told that she was the 45th person to make that joke! That was me that night and the chicken man does keep a running tally of the "chicken" jokes. And for the fake chainsaws... I like them for one reason.. Drunk morons that like to grab the end of the chainsaws while people are trying to scare other people. I had it happen twice Saturday. They are a hard sell to some people but others only need to hear the sound and see someone scary holding something and they freak.... CHAINSAW!!!!!!1 point

I'm not sure why, but when I saw the numerous pictures of the snapped wood, sitting on the footings like tree stumps, a wave of sadness washed over me. Something about it seems heartbreaking to me, even if I know not why. Perhaps it is a good thing the park did not release any Crypt demolition pictures.1 point

Too many people do not put things into perspective. Do the math. The cost of a KI season pass, that includes parking. Then divide the cost vs. the amount if hours spent at the park. My cost for the whole family is less than $1/ hr. Where else can you get out of the house for that value? You can even go deeper. Figure out how many times you have visited the park, then multiply the ticket & parking cost. Now compare that value to the cost of your pass.1 point
