  5. A couple of observations from our 1st trip this year (I'm sure some, if not all of this has been covered, but I haven't read thru this thread, nor will I at this point...) The walk back to Banshee along the path that takes you past the KI Theater may now be the prettiest part of the entire park. The paint job on the supports of Delerium match in so well, and the amount of canopy in the short walkway really makes them "pop". Considering that this is likely the route many will take when they 1st enter KI this season (to get on Banshee from the start presumably) it is really going to make a wonder 1st impression on people that have never visited KI or haven't in a long time, or at least for those that choose to start their day in Action Zone and take that particular route. It all just comes together wonderfully. The patio area at the back of the Festhaus was certainly a nice touch. I think it gives the back enterance a cleaner look and helps re-enforce the charm of that particular path. Speaking of the Festhaus the chicken Fingers and even Burgers looked enjoyable. We had the pizza as part of the season long plan, but in the past, I wouldn't have even considered those choices. Could be the difference b/w when we typically eat (middle of the week, later in the evening vs yesterday at noon during the lunch rush) or it could be an improvement to the food; if its the later, job well done by the chef they brought in over the offseason (or was it last offseason) to improve the quality of the food across the park. We had the pizza, so I can't comment on the taste, but it certainly looked edible which is far more than I could have said in seasons past. I realized I'm raising "one of those people". While in line for Woodstock express, a grandmother was behind us telling her grandchildren about the rides and the park when she had taken their mother (or father) however many years ago. She proceeded to ask me if they still had The Beastie, I informed her that this was actually the same ride it had just changed names (and I guess removed the tunnel) since her last visit. My 5 year old then proceeds to tell her that it was originally called the Scoobie Doo and was there when the park was built, along w/ The Racer and other park trivia she didn't ask about. Cute at 5, annoying at some older age. Park was packed, we had to park out in BFE, furtherst I've ever parked, so we avoided taking the 5 year old on any bigger rides and instead stayed in Planet Snoopy most of the day so he could ride some of the smaller things with his 2 year old sister. Aside from Boo Blasters, the wait time wasn't too bad for anything over there. Actually had to wait a cycle for a train car the station was so crowded, but got to experience the train (engine included) move backwards. Only about 5-10 feet, but got me to thinking it could make for an interesting experience to have the engine push the cars the the track backwards for a day. Don't know if if could make it up the grade pushing the cars vs pulling it or not, perhaps just in those early season days b/w the water park opens and it runs limited cars. Could help boost attendance on those days.

  7. My longest wait was nearly 5 hours during the summer of 2008 for Firehawk against my will. My former boss paid for a trip to go to Kings Island on a 90*+ Saturday. He insisted on riding Firehawk and insisted we all had to stay together. It was the worst trip ever to Kings Island. I waited I believe 3 1/2 hours on opening day for Banshee, but I got a T-shirt for my efforts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  11. 60 minutes for Banshee, once, second Saturday this spring. That is my limit for rides, period...even a new one. Life is too short to be wasted standing in a cattle call line...even for the free t-shirt. I've not waited more than 30 minutes, many times not more than 15, since that first ride. Especially for rides I've ridden many, many times, why wait? Banshee has now crossed into the territory with the other rides at my home park. If a line is longer than 30 minutes, forget it. To combat that, though, you won't see me at the park on a Saturday during the summer, or on a Sunday after 1pm.

  12. This is a slight part of the reason why I hardly ever ride Invertigo. When Face Off opened up I was young I don't remember what age maybe 12? I waited with my dad. After an hour and realizing the line was going to take forever I asked to get out of line. He got all huffy and puffy and tried to make it into some kind of life lesson about patience. We finally got on the ride and got buckled in. All of the workers did their checks and gave the clear.... we waited about thirty seconds and nothing. Then they come on the speaker and say. "Face off is now down due to a mechanical issue we dont know that it will re open today please step off the ride." Instead of putting us back in the queue they took us out of the exit and most everyone left the line. I have rarely seen my dad that mad. We ended up waiting 4 and a half hours to get strapped in and asked to exit. They didn't do a thing to make it right or care. Most places try and apologize for what happened. Not them, not that day.

  14. Saw the show during the Media Preview on Friday Night that the park opened up to the public. What an awesome gesture by the park to do that and the show is amazing. The theater was packed and the folks around us were honestly on the edge of their seats with anticipation on what the performers would do next. Highly entertaining and something I know my family will go back and see again and again. The previous shows in the theater were something you watched once and that was good enough, Ed Alonzo started to change the quality of the shows in the theater, but Cirque took it to a new level. Also the main set piece the giant color changing mountain is really amazing to lookout and how the performers interact with it and the sound track actually adds to the suspense and performance value of the show. Some of the technical set pieces are quite impressive as well. I was skeptical of this show and thought it would be just ok and kind of cheesy. Thank you for proving me wrong KI. Can't wait to see it again and again and again.

  19. I waited 6.5 hours for The Outer Limits: Flight of Fear. It was during the preview held for season pass holders on June 17, 1996. They said the line was slow because it was only running one train. The line stretched almost to the restrooms back by Vortex.

  23. I took everyone's advice and tried the fudge push pops today. I was just going to get a blue ice cream one for myself, but when they told me it was buy two get one free, I picked out a couple more to bring home to my husband. Unfortunately, I stopped in just as I was returning to the park from having taken a "storm break" trip to my car. So I had three push pops, and didn't really want to trek back to the car. Since I took another bit of advice and bought myself some men's cargo shorts, I had plenty of pocket room. It was actually working out pretty well, until I rode Banshee. I think she's the one that popped off one of my lids and smeared fudge in my pocket. Gave me an excuse to try the flavor I bought my husband, though. It was the ice cream sundae, and like the blue ice cream fudge, it is excellent! I'm definitely going to be buying more as the summer goes on.

  25. Ya that's when you find a baby sitter and have them do something fun with her like the zoo or something. Nothing wrong with just daddy/son time. When Cody and Katie were both little I had a friend that would go and help me at the park. She liked going to the park but not riding. She'd even keep Katie while I took Cody and her two boys around the park. I have to admit I am happy I don't have to worry about that now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  27. A few years back my wife and I were on Backlot Stunt Coaster and found a man's credit cards along with his ID which was some type of military ID. The ID had some info on it, but not his phone number, and I debated whether or not to hold onto the cards and try to get in touch with this person myself, or even try to mail his credit cards and ID to him. Then I decided I didn't want to be responsible for his credit cards potentially getting lost in the mail, or even worse, stolen. So I took them to guest services and turned them in. Hopefully this man was able to claim his property.

  28. I once found keys near Hank's Burrito Shack. I sat around for a few minutes in case an owner came looking for them. No one showed up, so I took them to guest relations. Figured they'd eventually notice they were missing when they tried to leave the park.

  30. Just a random question: how long has your longest wait ever for an attraction been? Which one was it? Also feel free to state your longest wait ever for each KI attraction that you've ridden, or your longest wait for an attraction at any other park. I think the longest I've ever waited for a ride was just over 3 hours for Flight of Fear (back then called Outer Limits: Flight of Fear) the first week it was open, but I'm curious to see what others have to say.

  34. That's "Rumbler", not "Rambler"... Still an interesting look at how they built those coasters. It also explains how a giant wooden coaster ended up at a small family park in the middle of Kentucky (if you've ever been to Beech Bend, you'll understand - that coaster seems really out of place there).

  35. I saw the show on Sunday with my kids, who both enjoyed it. Like Ryan, I too have seen multiple Cirque du Soleil productions, so I wasn't expecting that, but for the size of the stage, I'd say they made great use of it. I guessed the performers are all in their early-mid 20s, and they were quite skilled. I think the show will appeal to a broader audience than Alonzo did and I'm glad the park decided to go in this direction. I particulary enjoyed the last major act with the performers all vaulting up and down the set piece-which is a mainstay of all Cirque shows. Also, the clown balancing with the ring is also a common Cirque feature-albeit with a bigger contraption, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The theatre was prob about 95% filled at my showing with ushers finding seats for those arriving last minute. I hope the show does someting different if it sticks around for Haunt.

  37. Yeah the in-line twist at the end is incredible. Really all of it is. It's very disorienting. I still think DB is my favorite, mainly because I'm a sucker for speed, and especially floaty air-time, which the DB has in spades. But that doesn't take anything away from Banshee, which is a superb coaster.

  38. I got my pass processed yesterday. The calendar said they will be processing "during park hours", which I hoped would include ERT. Thankfully it did! I actually showed up at 9:25 and they were already processing passes. It took literally under 60 seconds for me to get my pass processed. It worked out perfectly as I was able to take advantage of ERT, which was a necessity given how crowded it got as the day went on.

  39. I'd be happy to see a new attraction placed in there. I mean its a nice spacious building...something good could go in there. I guess only time will tell. All I know is that I miss TR:TR and it would be cool to see something of that caliber be placed inside there ( I have my doubts, but then again after seeing the impressive theming of Banshee there is still hope )

  41. Well, came home from a friend's house and my sister, who had been to KI 2 days ago (I didn't go for this particular trip), had gotten one of these push pops (Blue Ice Cream Flavor) and still had some left and thus I can confirm- these new treats sure as tasty. Kudos to the park employee who thought this up.

  44. Having been born a couple decades before you, I can tell you that people weren't fundamentally any different. There have always been people who will get away with however much they can, but the majority of people are pretty honest. In a lot of ways, I can see that things have improved societally (tolerance of differences, etc) just within my own lifetime, and if I look back to the things told to me by my parents and grandparents, this has been a trend of overall improvement for decades. Violent crime specifically has been in decline since the 80s.
