Adventure Port Officially Opens This Weekend

Sol Spin now open! -
I agree Bacon. We got a new well themed area, two new rides, and AE with some much needed attention to boot. Sure, it would have been nice if everything was done and ready by opening day. Unfortunately it was impossible for almost every park this year. What park had anything new open on opening day besides CP? KI - nope, Carowinds - nope, WOF - nope, Dollywood - nope, Hersheypark - nope.

The wait is finally over for Kings Island fans anticipating the opening of Adventure Port, the park’s newest themed area, which will officially open this Saturday, June 10th 2023. Two new rides anchor the area, Sol Spin and Cargo Loco, while the Adventure Express roller coaster provides new theming enhancements and experiences for park guests. Enrique’s restaurant and the Mercado Patio Bar deliver an adventure-themed culinary stop for travelers looking to satisfy their appetites and quench their thirsts. “Over the past several months I’ve been truly amazed to see how this area of the park has been transformed into telling an immersive story of adventure and exploration,” said Mike Koontz, Kings Island vice president and general manager. “The rides we’ve added are a perfect complement to the park’s offerings, and we took advantage of the new area to continue to showcase the quality of our food and beverage offering.” Adventure Port’s Backstory - The myths of an ancient civilization, and its mighty city carved out of stone, have lured travelers from around the globe to this bustling port community for more than a century. Resting in the foothills of overgrown mountains and dense tropical terrain, Adventure Port is a hub for explorers searching for the lost city’s forbidden temple, fabled riches and mysterious wonders. If asked, the locals will tell tales of those who came before you and vanished. Did they unwittingly disturb ancient spirits and fall victim to an age-old curse? Adventure Port Rides Sol Spin - This immense golden sun disk may hold the secrets of the lost city. Riders board open-air, suspended passenger vehicles and experience the sensation of flying 60 feet through the air at 25 m.p.h. Learn more about Sol Spin here: https://kicentral.com/rides/sol-spin/ Sol Spin Testing Cargo Loco - Their methods might be a little dizzying, but the Arrow Cargo Company will get your gear from Point A to Point B....eventually. Riders board these shipping barrels where they can manually control the speed of their spin with a wheel in the middle of the barrel. Learn more about Cargo Loco here: https://kicentral.com/rides/cargo-loco/ Cargo Logo in action Adventure Express - Riders will embark on a surprise treasure-hunting mine train expedition in search of a Forbidden Temple. This family coaster opened in 1991 and features a 63-foot first drop with speeds up to 35 m.p.h. The queue line has been relocated and riders will find additional theming in the load station and throughout the ride. Learn more about Adventure Express here: https://kicentral.com/rides/adventure-express/ The best way to experience Adventure Port is with a 2023 Gold Season Pass, which includes unlimited Kings Island and Soak City visits this year as well as special events like Grand Carnivale, Tricks and Treats Fall Fest, Halloween Haunt and WinterFest. Well, your poor arms are going to be very tired beating that horse. On the other hand, you will have an awesome set of biceps with all that repetitiveness.

I'm still trying to understand how a headless guest made it to CP and got on Maggie in the first place? Article: https://insidethemagic.net/2023/06/guest-forces-emergency-stop-phone-ea1/

What is the most popular ride at Kings Island?
IndyGuy4KI replied to italianchef's topic in Kings Island
If you go to the rides page on KIC, I have the numbers using the latest numbers published under each ride, Most were updates up through the 2019 season. Now keep in mind Orion, Banshee and Diamondback have the highest capacity per hour. So they get the highest number per season. Lifetime of the park most rides given is Train, Racer, and I think Beast is third. I hope this helps answer your questions. -
I guess that is better than an actual broken bone. I hope your enjoy your vacation. Let us know if they have these single use options at CP too.

I agree with @IBEW_Sparkythat I hope this is a high ticket item. The choice of FOF I think is a bad one. You are going to use one of your slowest riders per hour coaster to upsell a FL? I guess it increases the value of the FL, but not for everyone else in line for FOF. It should only be between the 3 B&M's.

What is the most popular ride at Kings Island?
IndyGuy4KI replied to italianchef's topic in Kings Island
That is a trick question. Popular may not be the most ridden as @BoddaH1994 has mentioned. Can you clarify what you mean by most popular? -
I will now add my review of Cargo Loco and Adventure Express. Cargo Loco was a fun ride. I do wish that our barrel would have been able to spin to get the full affect, but I also spent most of the cycle seeing how others were reacting. The theming of the area looks awesome and I think they have knocked it out of the port with the area. There are spoilers so you may want to hit that back button now before you keep reading. Adventure Express: I was more than surprised with the theming of the entry plaza, the queue, and in the station. I don't know why, but I loved seeing all the stuff up in the rafters as well. This was a cool sign in the station I rode AE 3 times and each time saw some more details I didn't see the last time. Now for the ride experience. You really get whipped around a lot of AE, especially when you are trying to see the extra items placed on the ride. The old Arrow train and the monkeys are absolutely awesome. A very cute and efficient way to add theming that kids will enjoy, as well as the adults to play along with the closed track theme. The first tunnel you really can not see much. I don't know if there is more to come in there or is was intended to be that way? The second lift there are a few surprises in there including a throwback to Tomb Raider. We rode close to the front on our 3 rides, there is another voice in there that I am not sure what is said. Maybe it can be heard if you are further back in the train? I really do like that after you are coming into the brake run you hear "Remember, AE is always on the right track." I just wish I could know what they said before that. I know they are still working out the tech of trains and people on the ride. Being a radio guy, I know extra noises totally change how audio comes across. and heard and they have not had a chance to fine tune it yet. See the full new theme gallery for AE here: https://kicentral.com/rides/adventure-express/

So many possible projects, where does the park even start?
IndyGuy4KI replied to Taylor.B03's topic in Coming Attractions
I think the chances of the SOB name being used again is the same as Paramount buying the park again. From a PR and marketing standpoint, that would be a very hard sell. Now, I could see one of the new B&M stand ups going in and resurrecting the King Cobra name. It seems the new standup is getting a lot of good reviews. -
Funny, but shows the dangers of those things if you are under them. That is with a professional company operating them. A very good photo to justify the no drone policy over KI.
