  1. A drive wheel apparently came off of Steel Vengeance on/near the final brake run.
  2. My viewpoint is that it is brilliant. I know SOB was a huge liability for the park, but it also has a lot of goodwill associated with it. They could be playing off that goodwill. Also, remember that Chad Showalter told Brad in the KIC interview that they are going to make old things new again. ( not a direct quote). That could literally mean anything. I don't want FUN to go the way of SIX by blending all their parks into a single identity, but I do like the idea of a theme carrying over from one park to the next.
  3. Sometimes, on a dark highway, the bright police car LED flashing lights can be a HUGE distraction. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  4. Is the park sticking up for pass holders, or is it biting the hand that it leases it's home from? You decide. http://www.wdrb.com/story/38842477/kentucky-kingdom-sues-state-in-expo-center-parking-dispute
  5. If WindSeeker is problematic for freeway drivers, I would hate to see the horrors of a New Year's Eve firework show...if Wonderland got Winterfest. (crossthreading.) Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  6. I finally figured it out. All this "Outpost Five" stuff is pure fluff. If you have watched Gravity at all, it is so clear what the next coaster is going to be: Intamin GiGa launched. Space themed in X-base. Why else would they have a spaced themed Cirque show? Why else would Lt. Phil complain (in the pre-show audio) that the seat belts are too tight? Why else would the pre-show audio focus on Lt Phil's digestive issues and flatus? (Intamin will use the S&S tech that used air compression to launch the coaster they had at Kings Dominion.) Why else would the spaceship have the 5-10 numbers? Outpost 5! Doubled the speed (of the launch) of TTD, using Lt. Phil's compressed methane. Elementary sleuthing. All from Gravity. S/He who has ears, let her/him hear. Disclaimer: Pure parody. Continue on with speculation. Edit: for gender inclusivity.
  7. If trolling could be positive, troll away. I am really enjoying what they are doing. It's what sets CF apart (for the most part.)
  8. You are all wrong. There are only two possibilities: 1. An arcade will be located there. 2. RMC Steel Witch. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  9. If these are clues, they are brilliant. If they are not clues, they are brilliant. It has a small buzz going on in the coaster community. If the community is being trolled, it throws out the notion that Cedar Fair cannot theme. To create a storyline linking CP, KI, KD, Cwinds, CW and CGA is pretty amazing. And to have small things at Kings Island like the chair with hat and barrel, the cactus plantings, the wood and the SOB wood and flowers at the Eternal Flame...I'm having FUN with it!
  10. The Racer needs some attention and had for quite some time. After riding Rebel Yell at Kings Dominion, I can imagine how great the ride could be. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  11. Look in the Cedar Creek Mining Company graphic. You will see "CP est 1870". Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  12. If you have a Spotify account, check out the Bluegrass Pickers playlist.
  13. I went less than a handful of times under the Paramount moniker, but I always felt nickel and dimed. I also felt the park was just a giant movie commercial. Just a personal opinion and not an experiential one--I like the park much better under Cedar Fair than under the various Paramount owners.
  14. They have completely retracked sections of the ride over the last two off seasons--taken off all the layers and even replaced ledgers. I don't know who did the work, though. The new train, in my opinion subtracts from the ride experience. It's much too tight. I can understand why though, because even with the smaller seat size, there are points on the ride where I am in a half way standing position. It's still smooth. On the lift hill, though, it shuffles quite a bit. It feels like the train is lifting off the track a few inches. All that to say...I hope The Racer gets some much needed attention. It's a painful ride for me. It looks terrible. And I want the Coney Mall sign back.
  15. I did my part on Tuesday with Blue Ice Cream and bacon on a stick. Lol Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk

  17. Hopefully the weather is conducive to it. I'd love to see some weekday Haunts added in. I'm in panic mode now since the season is rapidly moving toward weekend operation and I work every weekend.
  18. From accounts I have heard, the CAGA WinterFest was bigger and better in its second season; I see no reason why CF would cut back on KI's second WinterFest.
  19. No doubt, @IndyGuy4KI. The pressure is less pronounced with a park like KK, because they can make decisions quickly and without regard regulatory requirements imposed on companies like SIX and FUN.
  20. Every food place I went to for food or drinks, except Island Paradise and Turkey Leg had international workers. This was yesterday 7/24/18. I was shocked that IP was open, so when I saw they had Blue Ice Cream I had to buy something. I've also been wanting to try bacon on a stick, so I decided to indulge in that as well. Service was fast and friendly everywhere. No surly employees. Smiles and quick service. I couldn't been happier with my food experience yesterday....except if the bacon had been well done!
  21. Neither of these parks are part of a publicly traded company. I haven't been to HW, but the visits I have had to KK seem to be about the same as last year. And assuming KI has had a 3% drop, that is 70K gate clicks based on a 3M annual attendance rate. If the park can safely accommodate 60K guests at one time (I have heard that number batted around, not official or sourceable.) I'd say they will continue offering incentives. With perfect weather, incentives etc, that deficit could theoretically be made up in a matter of days.
  22. I wish we were talking about this over coffee or a Blue Ice Cream cone on IS with the fountains in the background and the wonderful music because it is so hard to convey intent in this manner of communication. I stopped going to KI and getting passes from 2010 until 2013 because of what you described. But when I took a chance and went again in May 2014, things were so much different. For the better. Food has, in my experience, vastly improved this season. It's not perfect but it's on an upward trajectory. I see all the little things that the park has focused on this and last year, and it seems like they are attacking them. Better music. Disposable cups. Moved smoking areas. LANDSCAPING. (The park is absolutely stunning this year!) Winterfest. Ride operations. These are all things the park has listened to and responded to. If you haven't been to the park then you wouldn't see them. Based on previous posts, I think you are looking for a Disney experience at KI. Those are pretty high expectations. I do think the employees should always reach for a higher standard. But KI will never be a Disney, just as KK will never be a KI. If I go to Ruths Chris, I have different expectations than I do when I go to Texas Roadhouse than I do Golden Corral. All three may have steak, but I would expect more out of Ruths Chris, and I would pay much much more. (Although, I do have to say, KK is much better than Golden Corral; it's more Outback level to me!) I had a Dollywood Gold Pass for a year and didn't renew. Not because the staff/park/rides were not good but because I have a limited amount of time and money to spend. KI Winterfest solidified that for me. I was that impressed with it. I probably won't get a pass at DW anytime soon not because of the rude ride ops and trolley ops when I went for day in May this year, but because KI is much closer and more practical for me. All that to say...I don't think there is a mass exodus of gold pass holders. I think if attendance is down at KI specifically this year, it can be accounted for and the leadership is doing what it can to recapture the lost gate scans. I'm very excited about the future for KI.
  23. I don't get all the gloom and doom since this report was issued. It gives no specifics, but the pressure would be (I assume) at the parks that have added new roller coasters this year: KD, CP and CGA. I would conjecture that KI would have a down attendance year because there is no headliner this year, 70,000 turnstyle clicks (based on a 3M count) is an ouch but I would expect that after a record setter we had last year. I disagree with shark6495's statement above. The Beast is still drawing guests after almost 40 years. I'd say that investment has sustained attendance numbers. Probably one of the wisest investments the park has ever made. I've noticed a huge difference in the employees this year. Every food experience I have had has been good. I've seen vast improvement. Still a long ways to go, but progress has come by leaps and bounds this year. In spite of the Chicken Little type of paranoia that has cast its' shadow over this thread, I am more excited for the future of KI than I have been since becoming a fan in 2014.
  24. I'm loving the attention that has been given to Tower Gardens. It's beautiful this year! And I love to just listen to the music, smell the smells, feel the feels, and just look. I noticed something new to me today. See photos below. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  25. ^^I always thought that was KI property. I'll admit I have peeked in that area before!
