IndyGuy4KI Posted October 25, 2022 Posted October 25, 2022 As we get closer to the end of Haunt and into the holiday season, I wanted to start a thread for construction updates. On 10/23/22 I took several pics of the area to get a pre-Adventure Port snapshot of the area. You will find it in our galleries called: Adventure Port Pre-Construction. Bellow is that gallery. Please use this thread to post your construction pictures and updates as we finish up the 2022 season and look forward to Kings Island in 2023! 8 Quote
Hawaiian Coasters 325 Posted October 25, 2022 Posted October 25, 2022 Hopefully the park puts a webcam up for this and gives us of updates on Social media. I'd like to see them do a YouTube construction series 5 Quote
MDMC01 Posted October 25, 2022 Posted October 25, 2022 Yes! I am so excited for Adventure Port. I was looking for signs of progress when I went Sunday, but I didn’t see anything new except for the billboard by Coney. 1 Quote
PKIDelirium Posted October 25, 2022 Posted October 25, 2022 I'm willing to bet that Slingshot foundation removal is at least part of O'Rourke's contract. Those are some serious foundations as they had to hold everything secure with the spring box at full compression/tension plus the actual ride cycle. 5 Quote

Just swing the Banshee cam that is looking at Orion and swing it back to Banshee LOL (might need to angle down a little and maybe to the right, but it probably was close) 1 Quote
PKIDelirium Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 The perils of midway shots. It's worse when you're doing a photo tour in the waterpark, glad I don't have to do that anymore. 3 1 Quote

Coasterteam Posted November 25, 2022 Posted November 25, 2022 Is anyone at the park tonight able to confirm if any construction on Adventure Port has started? Any walls up? Might be best to start a new thread to cover it up through opening day. 2 Quote
BB1 Posted November 26, 2022 Posted November 26, 2022 Can confirm the dedication rock is still here, it has been transplanted next to the bar! 3 Quote
PKIDelirium Posted November 26, 2022 Posted November 26, 2022 I wonder if that's permanent, or temporary for construction and will be integrated into the new entrance. 2 Quote
BB1 Posted November 26, 2022 Posted November 26, 2022 I would guess it will be in the general area. It’s practically akin to a holy site so I’d doubt the park is going to get rid of the rock. 2 Quote
Diamondback2112 Posted November 26, 2022 Posted November 26, 2022 Fencing is up between Adventure Express and VIP area. 5 Quote

beastfan11 Posted November 27, 2022 Posted November 27, 2022 I love the fact that AE is getting some much deserved love. 4 1 Quote
Shawn Meyer Posted November 27, 2022 Posted November 27, 2022 I'm glad I have pictures of the old sign of Adventure Express. Just in case it doesn't return. 5 Quote

johnjniehaus Posted November 27, 2022 Posted November 27, 2022 It will be very unfortunate if they don't bring back the iconic sign in some way. Like maybe they have a new one to match the rest of adventure Port but bring the old one back as a Easter egg in the AE que or put it inside the new restaurant or something. As for the dedication rock it needs to be included in the new area in some fashion as well. 2 Quote

I could see the old sign being incorporated into some kind of que easter egg, along with some other different types of teasers. 2 Quote
Coasterteam Posted November 27, 2022 Posted November 27, 2022 Knowing Kings Island they likely lowered the original sign down gently and it’s being repainted or something behind closed doors. They wouldn’t just toss that… 2 Quote
PKIDelirium Posted November 27, 2022 Posted November 27, 2022 Might become a new addition to the museum walls of the sign shop, unless they put it in the station or in a tunnel or something. 2 Quote
purdude86 Posted November 28, 2022 Posted November 28, 2022 With all their classic rides and old props they seems to still have they use for events would be cool to see them make a large “legacy store” gift shop like Universal Studios did. If they don’t reuse the entrance sign somewhere in the queue would be a great addition in a shop like that. 3 Quote
Coasterteam Posted November 28, 2022 Posted November 28, 2022 That or it'll show up in Dons collection of KI artifacts Quote
johnjniehaus Posted November 28, 2022 Posted November 28, 2022 Or it will get sold at an auction like Firehawk sign did ..... 1 1 Quote

PKIDelirium Posted November 28, 2022 Posted November 28, 2022 Vortex's signs were also auctioned. AE isn't a defunct ride though, so it'll probably stay somewhere, even if it just joins all the other old signs in the shop. Quote
KIEagle33 Posted November 28, 2022 Posted November 28, 2022 Does anyone happen to know where the sign shop is located at the park? I have always wondered. Quote

If you look though the fence when you walk from Planet Snoopy over to the waterpark you can see it. Close to where the walk way over the train is. It's not accessable to GP. 1 Quote
PKIDelirium Posted November 28, 2022 Posted November 28, 2022 Yeah, over there in the maintenance lot by the paint shop, carpentry and whatnot. The backstage tours that include it are fascinating, it's like a museum in there. 1 Quote
