Soak City 2025 Construction Updates

Plans have been filed to modify the entrance of Soak City. Appears they are just redoing the lanes in the front. I have never been through the Soak City entrance, but I know it does end up backing up on busy days so this should hopefully help with the flow of traffic. It mainly appears they are adding more concrete to the area and then also they are adding the sort of set up they have at the dry park with security. I feel like small things like this excite me more then a new coaster or water slide.

I don't know if the permit really has to do with concrete, as it's not really a "build." It is interesting though, that they asked for the permit to be expedited. I do think they could use a similar set up as the dry park with security. Here's a birds eye view of the entrance.

As seen here they are planning to reroute the whole thing and add more concrete of course this is a blueprint and things can change.

New update today, parts of the water coaster have arrived!

This must have taken them at least 45 seconds to write this blog update:

February 12, 2025
Fiberglass Slide Delivery

Fiberglass panels for RiverRacers have started to arrive at the construction site, where assembly will begin in the coming weeks once all panels have arrived for both the new water coaster and Salamander Sliders' seven new slides. Crews also will turn their focus to Bluegill Lagoon where the activity pool's water tower feature will soon take shape.

Lovely that smoking looks to be allowed inside the park again.

I have a feeling that the smoking area inside the gate is partially meant to reduce the amount of people leaving the park and trying to get back in. Forcing guests to scan back in just creates the possibility for longer entrance lines and increases the number of re-entry tickets that need to be issued per day. It's also probably just easier for space constraints in this context.

I wouldn't be shocked if the smoking area used for Haunt (the former season pass exclusive entrance) becomes permanent.

The first pieces of RiverRacers are constructed! I haven't been by there lately, so I can't provide exterior pictures. But, KI released another update on the ride and it's all coming together!

Honestly, I kind of forgot about the interior lighting on the ride. What do you guys think about the water propulsion jets? They kind of seem different compared to other water coasters I've seen like Cheetah Chase, Wildebeest, and Krakatau. Here are pics from Cheetah Chase and Wilddebeest.

They are rebuilding a Coke station in Soak City and it says that it should be done by opening day for the waterpark.

"Demo existing Coke building and build brand new structure to house three new Coke fountain machines and two ICEE machines along with a covered area for the sales associates. This needs to be an EXPEDITED permit as we're opening this with the waterpark on Memorial Day weekend." This is from the permit that was filed.

I'm sure RiverRacers are going to be fun, but compared to my most recent visit to Holiday World last summer, it will not come close to any of their water coasters.

The other thing about their water coasters is that you don't need to climb a long flight of stairs to get to the launch point. Later in the day, it was nice to take a break from climbing a few flights of stairs and get a ride on a great water coaster. Absolutely love Wildebeest! The walkway up to Cheetah Chase was enough after being in the Splashin Safari all day. Of course, my son had no problem going up that many stairs...ahh, to be young again! Ha!

Agreed. Wildebeest and Mammoth are phenomenal. Cheetah Chase is good, but hate the queue.

As much as I love Holiday World's water coasters, I understand why the park didn't go that route. I feel like with the budget the park was given for this project, they wouldn't have been able to add the other improvements planned to Soak City had they gone with a larger water coaster like Holiday World has

I believe it is because little children were getting in, without being supervised by their parents.

On the RiverRacers and Splash River Junction page, it says they will be ready for their debut’s in Summer 2025, so looks like an opening in June for both, missing the Opening Day for Soak City.

^^Memorial Day weekend is "technically" the start of summer as that's usually when pools and water parks open. However, KI labeled Camp Snoopy as opening in late Spring which ended up being Memorial Day weekend and for the Adventure Port rides being open sometime in the summer and Cargo Loco and Adventure Express opened Memorial day weekend so you never really know.

If you are telling me the water park addition isn't ready until past memorial day I would be severally dissapointed because they had so long to do this. Water park closed August 18th and you are telling me they could not get this done by May 26th that would be very upsetting. Like I understand with Camp Snoopy since winter is so unpredictable in Ohio and you can't begin to work on that too soon.

I totally agree. If they can't get a waterslide and a kids area renovation done and ready to open by Memorial Day weekend when they literally have the River Racers structure complete and slide pieces in the parking lot right now, then it's probably time for the head of construction to step down or if it's the construction company's fault, don't work with that specific company again. If I were the park/corporate I would set specific guidelines to have new attractions ready by opening day and if they don't meet those guidelines, I would wouldn't use that company again unless they can prove they can meet the guidelines presented when the contract was signed. Unless maybe, it's out of their control which we don't always know the circumstances.

This goes with other parks in the chain too, especially Carowinds as them not having their Camp Snoopy area expansion done right now is completely inexcusable especially since the attractions these new rides replaced didn't even operate last year and the plans were filed last spring if not earlier. They had plenty of time to start construction earlier last summer and they didn't start vertical construction on Racing Railway until winter.

I understand Alpen Fury not opening in time it is such a major addition should they be further a little further a long sure, but I would not want to be working on building a coaster when everything is frozen. I think major additions that did not start construction until August or even later are understandable not being open until later, but not getting the water park ready would be unacceptable.
