Kings Island General Discussion 2025

I'd bet it is a reference to Steel Vengeance. Most of the props/posters from this era include those easter eggs because they were designed by a human who understands that there can be a connection like that between the parks. If you look at the AI generated posters in AlpenFury's indoor queue line, you'll notice they don't have any easter eggs. I think the last set of non-AI posters Kings Island has are over in Adventure Port.

Now that I'm looking at this photo, I don't think I've ever noticed the hose or its box either. Any idea as to why it appears to be completely outside of the box?

Maybe all that wood behind the fence will go into building the entrance for The Conjuring. Not much seemed to be going on with them this weekend, but the new entrance to Order of the Dragon looked to be further along in development.

Many of the Winterfest white lights were never removed from the trees as you could still see the strings on the trees this spring/summer, so imagine they might be testing to see what still works and what doesn’t - or maybe they will use the lighted trees with white lights for Haunt as well to get their money out of them.

The Golden Tickets 2025 was just announced and Six Flags took home 3 Golden Tickets. Kings Island had a good showing, the Kids Area went back up to #2, RiverRacers took the #2 spot for Best Water Ride and the park came in at #5 for Best Guests Experience. Here is a couple links.

Is it haunt, or is it winterfest, seems like neither. Looks like Zimmerman reached into his magic hat and pulled out two more fall dates, 11/8 and 11/9, open 11am-7pm. Well, they're on the calendar for now at least, we'll see if they're still there in a few weeks

Well that's quite the accomplishment considering that they got 3 out of a chain that includes over 40 parks while some individual parks like Dollywood took home three all by themselves. So great job SF, you'd think that with 40 properties you would be able to beat out Dollywood

Not really because it is based off of individual park, so if Six Flags wanted too they could put all money into one park and it probably take home many different awards. I would bet that Dollywood probably has a larger budget than two smaller six parks combined. It’s not like anyone expected six to take home a bunch of awards. They already have so much debt at home they can‘t afford to put more into the parks. Also how many of the parks pre-merger were up to the standards to win an award probably like 10 out of 40. The golden ticket awards are good for advertising they don’t really mean much else. “We won the golden ticket award so buy a gold pass”

They added days to CP, KD, Carowinds and Wonderland as well.

Unless the other KI Winterfest days have been moved to 11-7 operations like Carowinds I wouldn't bet on them being for an early Winterfest. This would be a good opportunity for more Fall Festival operations if you've got the staff to work it, but if it's two more operating days for the sake of being open, I could see them acting as a consolation gift for something we have or haven't yet seen.

Right now on the I-Street webcam they are testing various lasers and lights. One interesting thing about it is that there appears to be some kind of emphasis on lighting the edges of the fountain. No sign of the fire spouts or the Tower eyes yet, but it does look like the country flags have been changed over to HAUNT flags. I wonder if they'll also do some more testing of the lasers with the fountains running.

(There is also an oversized golden toilet between the park sign and the KI Trading Company, but I think that is from a private event. It might even have the Charmin logo on it.)

P&G days is this weekend. I am guessing we will see lots of blow up products show up today.

But took away the entire fall season at Michigan's Adventure and cancelled WinterFest at Kings Dominion.

It is interesting to see this. I assume it is because the events didn't make enough or didn't break even. Its interesting that they cancelled the events but added other days in different places. I am guessing they are hoping people will show up later in the year and spend money in the park. Only time will tell if it works or not.

I like that they added these dates. If the weather is nice, all of the parks with the added dates should have good crowds.

But at the same time, at this time of the year, with no "events" going on and being between Haunt and Winterfest, won't it be majority passholders not likely to spend anything more than redeeming their add-ons?

And is this a test to see if the demand is there and then possibly cancel Winterfest at the parks that have it next year?  Let's face it, if the demand is there for days like these and a few others to add, much more money to be made sprinkling an additional 15-20ish days across the season than go to the expense of Winterfest set up for the roughly same number of days....

It is a much bigger loss if the weather is bad for the Winterfest run than if these November days turned out to be poor weather.

I agree they are mostly for bragging rights and don't mean much outside of the enthusiast community. As for the investment side of things, I think we know which park gets more investment than any other park in this chain and it's worth noting that park took home ZERO golden tickets. Don't get me wrong I'm not a Cedar Point hater (it's my favorite park) I'm just saying they have potential to be better than they already are. I was once told that you never profess to be the best because you can only go down from there and you should always look for ways to improve. SF seems to have a motto that is always looking for ways to make cuts

I know it is probably nothing, but this little setup of lights is very interesting. One pair flanking the pathway and another 2-3 seemingly pointing at something. Could this be for the new Phantom Theater with its bones rising around the headstone, or could it be the announcement of another ride retiring like we saw with Firehawk?

^^Or could that be the Phantom Theater tombstone and the lighting effect could be for the "phantoms" rising from the dead for Phantom Theater Opening Nightmare?

If I had to guess I’m 99% certain it’s for a Phantom Theater thing, since people have already posted a display being made for it. Would not be surprised if lighting was added to it or if there’s a small speaker that plays audio from the original attraction (along the lines of the lantern activation, which I’m also very curious to see if that returns this season/anything for Boo Blasters being acknowledged or put on display)

Honestly, I would think it would be really fun though if they just straight up had another ride closure announcement to surprise people on the first night of Haunt. Especially something like Congo Falls or Invertigo where they closed without last rides given lol.

I would love it if they put a R.I.P. Boo Blasters Tombstone right in front of The Phantom Theater one!
