Pete Rose is beyond embraced by Reds fans,we love him! He bet on baseball because he had a gambling problem,he did it with a pure heart and never for the Reds to lose, but he still messed up.I think he's payed his price by now and baseball should embrace him again. Thats just how I feel.7 points

I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the menus for this year. I saw this tweet when it was posted....yet, I didn't even think of the correlation of it until now! The park is getting sorta sneaky when it comes to some teasers lol.6 points

I agree with all of the tips that everyone has provided so far. Rides: excellent, Shows: excellent, Food: excellent. We were season pass holders there last year and enjoyed each and every visit. We were even there on the busiest day in the park's history, and the lines were not bad at all. Tornado is the best Arrow looper (or half of an Arrow looper as some people say), Thunderhead is my #3 woodie, and I love Mystery Mine and Blazing Fury in all its 1970's glory (although I miss the splashdown ). Wild Eagle is pretty good. It's relaxing, not intense in my opinion. It swoops and soars pretty much like riding along with an eagle... although I'm pretty sure I've never seen a bald eagle fly upside down... There is not a bad place to eat in the park. Miss Lillian's is our favorite, but all of the other places are just as good. Love the giant skillets! My last piece of advice is DO NOT... UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES... ride Lemon Twist with dare-to-fly! (that's the only time I've ever had to sit down after a ride to recuperate!) We're really bummed that we don't have season passes there this year (there's certain issues in the extended family that we anticipate will occupy our time and money this summer, and possibly next summer too, so we don't forsee being able to visit DW as often as we would like). The other day, out of the blue GatorGirl said, "I can't believe we're not going to Dollywood until November!" I sadly said, "I know..." But on the bright side, the family issues may lead us to Florida, where we hope to make a side trip to a certain magical place in the middle of the state.6 points

Love what you are doing and working on the site, but could you introduce yourself? I think most members would feel more comfortable and would love to get to know who is doing site updates and making new logos. I see you have been a member since 2005, but by your post count you seem like a new member. Hope to learn more about you soon!6 points

For those unable to see the announcement: EDIT: Just noticed KingsIslandPR's tweet from last night. I like the new teasers. They're so obvious that it's hard to put two and two together.5 points

New for 2013: Reds Hall of Fame Grille (via twitter) This looks like something that I, being a Reds nut, will absolutely love. http://www.visitkingsisland.com/article/media-center/New-Reds-Hall-of-Fame-Grille-restaurant-will-feature-sports-barstyle-food-Reds-history-and-authentic-team-memorabilia5 points

Wait, is this actually "full service?" As in you sit down, a waiter serves you, you tip them at the end and so forth? In the past, the buffet was billed as "full service," hence why I ask. It'll be interesting to see how the wait staff, if there is one, compares to the "service" found in the Foods Department in previous years.5 points

Sorry, been a little busy with this website, and other things. Here's a bit about me. My real name is Lee. Although I live in Indianapolis, I consider Kings Island my home park. I've been going to it for over twenty years. I'm a graphic artist by trade, and have been in charge of designing 95% of the banner, logo, and t-shirt design (well, the one that originally won before Dane released the second version, per request) you have all seen on KICentral for close to a decade... God I'm old, lol. I have been a long term theme park/amusement park enthusiast. I've done the Walt Disney College Program, gone to IAAPA multiple times, and am trying hard to get back into the industry via Disney or Silver Dollar City. Guess that's really all I have. That's my life in a nut shell. If anyone ever needs any graphics/vinyl/etc, contact me. I do vehicle graphics, signage, logo/branding creation. Etc.4 points

I do find it humorous that for many years many people have voiced displeasure that KI has too many franchise food options, now when something unique is offered, many still voice displeasure.4 points

I'm pretty excited to see how this turns out. The few times I ate at Rivertown Junction the food was terrible. So I hope the park can hit a home run with this one!4 points

How soon we forget the impact that Flight of Fear had on the industry, as it was the first coaster to use LIMs.4 points

Probably because the restaurant will be located within the area of the park designated as "Rivertown" per the . I'm speaking in terms of theme, not location. The stadium is down by the river?4 points

I just want it to hurry up and be April. I`ve had enough winter. ....and lil` man has an inch to go before he can ride most of the big boy rides! While I loved being able to ride The Beastie again, I'm ready to take him on The Beast!4 points

We had to get out and push when we undershot the station on Blue Streak at Conneaut Lake back in 2010. It was pretty entertaining.3 points

Well, as it can be inferred, the new thing is a new sit down restaurant called "Reds Hall of Fame Grille". It is red, it does have a great view on Diamondback, and many all-stars will be there at the park. I am glad they took this new step, re-embracing the culture that has faded from KI from yesteryear, I believe that through this that people that go to KI could actually see how Cincy is and a bit of who it is. A bit of the German heritage, the fun days of Coney, Larosa's pizza, Servatti's, and now the Reds, it is now becoming more of the KI I have been waiting for.3 points
-
So wait....they're NOT getting a new red roller coaster for this season? Laaaaaame. Seriously, love this idea. Never stepped foot in that building before and have a reason to now.3 points

I believe the reason it's spelled Grille is due to type of food the restaurant serves whereas, Grill is what the food is cooked on. I'm not by all means a die-hard fan of baseball, but I do love the Reds. I am totally stoked for this restaurant. The menu looks great and looks to be a different dining experience. Kings Island out of all the other Cedar Fair parks has lacked a "Game Day Grille" type restaurant as well as a full service restaurant.3 points
-
I would love to go to Kings Island just to watch the Reds game - then for a quick break go ride Diamondback - then go back to watch the game!3 points

From Kings Island Picture: The menu sounds great, finally a full serve sit down restaurant!3 points

sounds great, but you'd think they'd offer a hot dog as part of their menu (not listed amongst the food items on the press release). Full service restaurant, something many have been asking for, I hope it works.3 points

This is going to be great. I am beyond excited to see what this place looks like. I can't wait for baseball season to start, and being able to enjoy my two favorite things at the same time will be incredible. Go Redlegs!3 points

They're painting the dinos red. Painting the dinos red. They dare not stop; or waste a drop; so let the paint be spread ♫♪♪♫3 points

Biggest impact on myself would have to be Woodstock Express, watching my little girl having fun and laughing and saying"Daddy lets ride it again"! Doesnt get any better than that for me.3 points

The Twitter teasers were for the Reds Hall of Fame Grille. Sounds like Rivertown Junction will become this Reds Restaurant. http://www.visitkingsisland.com/article/media-center/New-Reds-Hall-of-Fame-Grille-restaurant-will-feature-sports-barstyle-food-Reds-history-and-authentic-team-memorabilia2 points

It would be cool to see Mr. Red legs, Rosie, Mr. Red, and Gapper at the restaurant for the 2013 season.2 points

I'll definitely be checking this out! Not sure how often I'll eat there (though that cheesecake looks delicious, especially with the raspberries on it), but it definitely sounds exciting. I wonder if we'll be able to hear the game while standing in line for Diamondback.2 points

I'm not a baseball fan myself, but I am still psyched for this. I love the sports bar style menu, and I think the atmosphere is going to be awesome for any sports fan.2 points

^I agree! Too much headbanging on Maverick for it to come anywhere close to my Top 10.2 points

Good to see Montgomery Inn ribs & pulled pork coming back to the park. I never dined at the International Restaurant when it was open (although I've been up there plenty of times since), so a full service restaurant at KI will be a new experience to me. Can't wait to try it.2 points

I wonder what extra perks there will be for Gold and Platinum pass holders related to this. Way back in the day, there used to be a Reds dugout shop in Rivertown, in what is now the old time photo building.2 points

^ This! With utmost respect to Holiday World's reputation, the nicest park employees I've ever met have been at DW. My family, who mostly doesn't care one way or another about theme parks, even noticed how nice the park staff there is when we visited last March. I'm just bummed I still haven't made it to the chicken restaurant. Basically, the best trip advice for Dollywood is to definitely make sure you visit Dollywood.2 points
-
The atmosphere at Dollywood is certainly amazing. Something that sets us apart from a lot of other parks is the average age of our employees. We hire a LOT of retirees, so I often feel like I have multiple grandpas when I'm at work! I'm 27 and I am the youngest team lead in the attractions department, so that right there tells you a bit about how different things are from parks like Kings Island. You will experience southern hospitality at it's best at Dollywood. There is so much more to the park than just the rides, and I really think you will love it.2 points

If you are going to be there two days or more, buy a season pass. It's cheaper than 2 days worth of tickets. You can save on parking by turning down Teaster Ln and parking at Patriot Park for free, then riding one of the Pigeon Forge trolleys in. It costs 50 cents per person each way, so if it's a really big group of you it won't be worth it, but 4 people or less would be cheaper. DO NOT miss a ride on the train. It's one of few remaining coal-fired steam engines in operation at an amusement park. It will take you on a 5-mile round trip up into the mountains and back, where you also get some nice views of the coasters. Dollywood is very proud of their train engine Cinderella (and their second engine Klondike Katie) and love to show her off. You can hear her steam whistle echo throughout downtown Pigeon Forge. The food is amazing. There is no bad, or even mediocre place to eat. However there are some shining stars. Ms. Lillian's Chicken House is an all-you-can-eat buffet with fried chicken as the centerpiece, but plenty of other great home-cooked options. You also get to experience the entertainment that is Ms. Lillian, the chicken lady, a fantastic character that roams the dining room singing songs and generally finding every way she can to torture unsuspecting victims in the funniest way possible. I've seen her dress DaveStroem up as a chicken to dance with her, ask to borrow someone's cell phone mid-conversation and then sing a chicken song to the person on the other end, stalk people to the fountain drink machine, and everyone's favorite, provide chicken blessings to those in need! If you like to have a good laugh, this is not something you want to miss. Another good place is Aunt Granny's, a full-service buffet full of home-cooked favorites such as turkey, fried chicken, pulled ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes, etc. Hickory House is a "quick service" establishment that serves BBQ pulled pork sandwiches and turkey legs. Lumber Jack's Pizza is the home of the 12-lb pizza, which they serve in 1-lb slices. They are also the home of the best chicken tenders in the park. Other great places include Backstage Restaurant, Market Square, Red's Diner, Dogs n Taters, Victoria's Pizza ... the list just goes on! Definitely plan to eat in the park. It's not as expensive as KI, but is a bit higher than you'd find in the 'outside world.' If you enjoy shows, Dollywood produces some amazing ones. These aren't the type of shows you will see in a chain park. They won the "best shows" Golden Ticket for a reason - beating out even Disney for the honor. I recommend Dreamland Drive-In and Wings of America. The Christmas shows I think are phenomenal, so if you get a chance to go back during Christmas you could spend an entire day just watching shows. Oh, and of course, I recommend riding every coaster. Don't skip over Blazing Fury - just remember to appreciate it for it's 1970's cheesiness. And come say hi to me at Wild Eagle!2 points
