The big thing for me about Haunt this year is the awful music selection. To me, the use of music really sets the tone for Haunt and adds huge amounts to the overall atmosphere. The death metal at rope drop and basically using standard music used in the summer made it feel less like Haunt and more like it feeling like a typical night at the park that just happened to have Haunt elements which didn't blend.

Adventure Express Enhanced - What do you want to see?
silver2005 replied to beastfan11's topic in Coming Attractions
Needs to be either in the station, the queue, or on the 2nd lift somewhere. EDIT- I also realize the irony in putting up a plaque stating 'thou shall not mess with Adventure Express' while they're about to mess with Adventure Express. -

^If going by track length, according to KI's page, Orion is only about 40 ft longer than Diamondback.

Alright KI lore experts- how does this AE touch up for this work into the 11th Commandment? -
Kings Island Announces Adventure Port for 2023

Not by popularity, but more by that they take up a lot of room for the area they're at. It's similar to my issue with the Haunt clutter they're currently doing in Area 72. -
Kings Island Announces Adventure Port for 2023

The ride placement looks a little iffy in that the new rides look like they create a bottleneck in a highly used midway. I'm happy KI has an Enterprise type ride again after Slylab left. -
Apologies for double posting, but some observations from my visit last night- - Haunt didn't really feel like Haunt. The elements were all there, they just didn't blend very well for the typical kind of atmosphere that Haunt usually provides, the lazy music selection was the big factor, it felt like a typical night at the park that just happened to have Haunt elements present, lights also randomly shut off and came back on all through the park - Area 72 is way too cluttered with the Haunt decorations with the amount of foot traffic it gets with a maze and 2 popular coasters all back there - Ride crews need work, particularly in RT. Not good at filling trains efficiently (even going by a low bar here) and some handicap group came in and filled an entire DB cycle which is highly sus, DB had a VERY weird crew last night, MT was weird with the way they used (or didn't use) the FL line A good night, but some weird operations going on.

I probably missed this conversation somewhere this season as my season hasn't been great what with health stuff keeping me from parks for the last few months, but would it be crazy to say that KI now has a top 3/5 wooden coaster collection now? The job they have done on Racer is superb- it runs and looks like a really stellar classic coaster. John Allen is smiling in his grave for sure its running so well. The Beast re-track also turned out completely fantastic, and Mystic Timbers being a GCI pretty much speaks for itself. I'd dare put KI's wooden collection against any park in the world for quantity and quality.

All 3 RT coaster crews are in YOLO mode and they're doing really strange things line barely filling trains or sending lots of empty rows on trains.

A few 'questions'- - Is RT Drinks now a bar? - What does @King Ding Dong think of this change? - Does the drink plan cover alcohol at this specific location?

Flight of Fear may not need paint, but the track could use a scrubbing as it has a bit of a vibration. Also, I'm for Diamondback to go all red and black.

Carowinds turn for unruly teens 9/17/22
silver2005 replied to disco2000's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
My Skyline did something similar as they're by a HS where they close at 10 pm every day including weekends because of teens, but also because they don't spend much for the time and effort it takes putting up with them. Maybe CF has similar thoughts. Teens don't spend much in the park aside from entry fee, right? (I could be mistaken but it seems plausible) -
Your Kentucky Kingdom 10 year plan
silver2005 replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
1. KK has a height restriction due to proximity to the airport 2. KK's area to build taller things is literally a line that's in the back section, all the tall coasters they've built past and present were in that line -
If we're repainting Diamondback- black supports please.

^The first 2 coasters to hit 100 mph (Superman: The Escape and Tower of Terror) use(d) and were the first to use LSM's. -

I think they stick with Intamin or convince someone like Premier to go LSM's. Less moving parts, more widely used, a little more energy conservative. I also think its highly likely it'll lose height and speed in order to accommodate a more dynamic layout. They'd need a LOT of track to burn off 120 mph safely, either with a spread out low turn or some sort of mammoth second element, at least in keeping it at 420 ft. -

On the somewhat likely chance CP is getting Intamin to do this, I imagine they'll be standing over them with one of those canes they use to yank people off stage if they screw anything up. If they intend to keep most of what made TTD itself, I only really see Intamin or S&S be used as they're the only 2 companies to top 100 mph. -

TTD used a hydraulic launch system, never converted to LSMs. -
^But people here are trying to shoehorn in Vortex's plot as Rivertown. That's Coney Mall to me. That spot is likely getting a coaster all things considered. Also, there's no lake going there. That's all a big hill going down towards and beyond Beast. The amount of land work needed for a lake would be colossal. As for actual Rivertown, its a bit landlocked as is unless they finally decide to remove the big steel box, which, would open some land around Diamondback to use. The area around DB's splash could be utilized as well for some flats/theming.

^^I disagree, Knotts has one and they're comparable to KI in size and attendance. I'd take an Infinity Coaster in a heartbeat. Slap one with 5-6 inversions with a good lighting package in Vortex's spot (that's actually my new preference for The Vortex spot over a RMC now). I for one want some variety, even at the cost of a little capacity. Capacity isn't everything. There are several coasters I'd like to see KI get that aren't on B&M levels of capacity. Heck, CP is getting a spinning wild mouse.

So even with other track designs, large wooden coasters aren't the best way to go. -

^They just re-tracked it after an incident where a wheel came out and part of the train shredded 2000-3000 ft of track. That wasn't even the 1st time it was re-tracked. I'm going with Intamin design flaw.
