Losantiville Mining Co. Posted Thursday at 09:02 PM Posted Thursday at 09:02 PM I do think they will need to find a way to change it up a little, but the storyline is fine as is IMO. They really need to add a few more voicelines/line variations for each character and change up the queue audio as well. It would also be really good to implement a "B Mode". I've noticed that the first furnace screen doesn't work in about 1/4 of the POVs I've seen from throughout the time it's been open. If anything is going to be changed for a potential Halloween/holiday overlay, you can add me to the list of people begging for Kings Island to use some of the original dialogue for it. Even if it's just an overlay during Haunt (keep the new stuff playing during Tricks & Treats) that would give the adults another fun thing to do if they don't want to pay to go through the mazes. See, I thought the same thing, except the blast of air there makes no sense, and it seems like an awfully convenient place to reuse the mechanism from the gag in Boo Blasters where the curtain opened to reveal the ghost holding a teddy bear. But maybe the blast of air is supposed to go with Hilda's wailing and is just mistimed? I feel like it's a bit troubling that more effects seem broken each weekend, and they don't seem to be getting fixed (i.e. the first boiler's TV screen). Quote
Losantiville Mining Co. Posted yesterday at 02:39 AM Posted yesterday at 02:39 AM I think the air blast is supposed to rustle the curtain to add to the idea that there's someone behind it. If we're looking for who it could be then I'd try to look at everyone's shoes to see whose match best. More effects breaking each week feels like something that is expected for the first few months of a new dark ride like this. From what I've seen, some things have been fixed while others were left as-is over the past few weeks. The smells in particular have been the biggest on or off things for me. The boiler screen might be an issue of it (theoretically) not being easily accessible. I think it's just a standard commercial TV, though, so I don't actually know what its issue might be. Quote

This is probably the best explanation but I still have a gut feeling something’s supposed to be there. From what I’ve noticed from my rides is that the air blast is aimed directly at the cars coming from a tube to the left of the curtain. Maybe there’s supposed to be audio in that section that would’ve given context that was turned off. I know the quality is 2 pixels tall, but the curtain seems to be open in the (admittedly very early) concept sketch so maybe it’s an effect? The most hot or miss effects have been the two screens that have been broken since opening weekend, and the two heat effects have been on and off. There’s been noticeable changes within the audio, so hopefully they’re focusing on the major areas and are working to maintain the ride throughout the season. Quote
Losantiville Mining Co. Posted yesterday at 03:41 AM Posted yesterday at 03:41 AM Is the curtain drawn in that image or is it more or less ripped? One thing I'd have liked to see come back is either the Shakespearean statue or the Centurion. I think the "static figure" mentioned alongside the 33 animatronics was the gargoyle, whose eyes seem to switch between a static color light and multicolored lights. If either statue were to come back I think they could go great on either side of that "audience seating" screen where there are currently just curtains. There's not a ton of room between the set and the wall, but there's probably enough space for a statue. Quote
BryanJay Posted yesterday at 03:59 AM Posted yesterday at 03:59 AM I think the Larry on the turntable is the static figure and the gargoyle counts as a prop. 2 Quote
johnjniehaus Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I keep hearing things about the "feet" behind the curtain in the houdelini scene. People have been speculating that the curtain is broken or some affect there doesn't work however isn't there lore about no legs Larry losing his legs during a magic trick? Any thoughts on if this is a broken effect or is this an Easter egg? Has anyone else heard that lore story about how Larry lost his legs? Quote

In PT:E, during banter about NLL wanting a spot in the show, Maestro tells him something to the affect of "You should never have volunteered for Houdelini's 'sawing an usher in half trick.'" 1 Quote

Likely, to avoid future issues, it just never changed. Quote
BryanJay Posted 43 minutes ago Posted 43 minutes ago My new theory for the feet behind the curtain is that it’s meant to open to reveal a pair of disembodied legs that allude to the sawing in half trick (either being implied to be Larry’s or just another random characters). On the call board there’s a note from Houdelini asking for a new assistant for his trick, so maybe this calls forward to this? I lean towards this being a broken effect since the air blast seems out of place, and I think the legs peeking out is too subtile of a detail compared to where they hide small gags in the rest of the ride.
