  2. Photos, or it isn't true. It's getting old please stop. Excuse you! What's getting old? I only made one post in response to the footers being removed, and even used a smiley to show that I was kidding around. Don't tell me to stop. I will go all Madea on you if it happens again.

  3. If Mr O's goal is to provide "the best day of their year" anytime a family shows up to one of his parks, I'll assume having all of his major attractions operational, safe and running is part of that mission. Cut it any way you like, but bottom line, any ride that is standing, but not operational is bad for a park's image. When that ride is one of your major attractions and a reason people show up at the park (as opposed to say like a scrambler type ride where having it down on the day you get there may be a dissapointment, odds are you came to the park for much more than riding the scrambler) is down, its even worse. Sacrafice reliability for innovation sounds great in a vacuum, but what happens when the lack of realiability happens on the day you're in the park? What if you have the option of going to a different major amusement park in the area, like say Bush Gardens Williamsburg if you had Kings Dominion as one of your stops on summer vacation? Thats a lose of business, that's a potential loss of repeat business from the same family that might decide to stop at the same park on this summer trip next year when they head to the beach again? Put your roller coaster nerdom aside, the average park attendee has no clue who B & M is, or Intamin is, who Huss is, etc... They do however look at a ride like Diamondback and think, wow that thing is huge, I'm kind of nervous to get on it. However, when they came to the same park last year, they probably felt the same thing when looking at SOB, then felt a sense of dissapointment when they discovered it wasn't working, hasn't been working for years, and "just how reliable are these other rides if they can't get that thing working?" ideas placed in their heads? How many people have held back from a trip to Cedar Point because of the recent failure of Shoot the Rapids? how many have held back from theme parks in general b/c of the tragic incident in Texas? Reliability issues are not just an issue for a particular ride or the park it resides in, its an issue for the industry as a whole and something that needs to be considered when one is about to dump $25 + mil on their next major attraction.

  6. I say this... We got Banshee...it's a done deal, enjoy the millions the park spends to give us a good day of coaster riding, which we all love and why we're mainly here. End of story..

  10. I am a little confused, RCDB shows Intamin has 120 coasters and B &M has 90. So they only have 30 more coasters than B &M. I don't think anyone has issues with their other products (flats), they seem to be reliable rides. It seems you giving them an excuse for some of their failures! The general public is not going to understand any more than: "The big ride is down and I paid a lot of money to get in here and ride it. Now I am upset and mad at the park." I don't see them putting up signs saying: The manufacturer of this ride has pushed the limits of physics and mechanics to the best of their ability to bring you a high thrilling ride, but the sacrifice is that it does experience a lot of down time over other coasters." Thank You! When I visit CP, I have expectations that I will not get to ride TTD for it not be operating. Every time I have been there the last few years it has broken down almost every time. I almost attended the Virginia is for Coaster Lovers event to ride I-305, well that would not have worked out well, hence the reason for this thread. When I go to KI I never worry if DB is going to be down, I know it is a work horse and will most likely be up! I will take a working/reliable B&M over a extra thrilling may or may not be operating Intamin any day, but we are all different and I respect you for what you like!

  13. What??? Somehow you are the only one that is allowed to have an opinion? Funny how you now want to change the rules to suit yourself. Aside from the most obvious: One accident could be a park's fault, but dozens by one ride company is an epidemic. Too bad you can't handle the truth. Sleep well! You are absolutely correct. And until he can acknowledge the good, the bad, and the ugly about Intamin, it is impossible to believe otherwise.

  16. I wonder if that price will be universal across all the parks. Cedar Point, with its separately gated water park, could benefit from charging a bit more for their Platinum Pass for those locals that want to enjoy both Cedar Point and their Soak City water park. In my opinion, that price point is getting a bit high. I mean, it means you essentially are paying about $100 more for a platinum pass, which means you need to visit at least three times, in order to make it worth it to get a Platinum Pass. I still wish that they would offer some across the board discounts on food for Platinum Pass holders like 10% off of food purchases in the parks.

  18. That is what I thought. And if Banshee uses the same type wheels, it won't roar either. Given the proximity to Kings High School and Great Wolf Lodge, I'd not expect a loud roar.

  19. My friends and I went up to the park on Sunday to hang out and check out Banshee. We got there around 10:30 and bought our fast passes. (This was my first time buying a fast pass, it was great!) After we got our passes we walked over to Flight Deck and took a quick ride on that and Invertigo. We then went over to Diamondback and rode it twice both in the back row, my favorite. We then went to The Beast and rode in the back seats. This was the most uncomfortable ride I had ever been on. It most have been the seat I was in because it was unbearable. We then rode Vortex and had lunch at Larossa's. After that we went over to Diamondback and rode it two more times, one in the back and one in the front (seeing a pattern here?). After that we went to Drop Tower back to back and rode Delirium back to back. We then took a small break for drinks and headed to FoF. It was a very good ride, but nothing special. Next, some of my friends took a break and three of us went on WindSeeker, I always feel like I am the only one who likes that ride. After that we went on a second ride on Vortex. At this point I wanted to get my 100th ride on Diamondback, so we walked back over there and took two more rides on DB to get a total of 101, once again, both in the back. After this we were very tired and went to chill in Starbucks for a bit. Once we were cooled off we went to ride Adventure Express to get a good look at Banshees footers. We then walked around the park a it and went to the Eiffel Tower to get some pictures of Diamondback and Banshee. We were getting very tired so we took three more rides on Diamondback, one in the middle and one in the back, and one in the front. We then headed to Delirium to get a last look at Banshee before we headed out. It was a fantastic day at the park and a great day to hang out with my friends. It was a little hot but the Fast Passes were great and I got to see a close up look at Banshee. I know I almost never do PTR's, and I know they are pretty bland, but I just wanted to share this trip. Thanks for reading guys! Here are the pictures: I will end it will this picture. It looks like we are modeling for the Hangover 4 Movie!

  21. I can't remember if this had been made official yet, but Kings Island just stated on their Facebook page that there will not be sand quieting Banshee as she flies through her course. It's in the comments on this photo. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152128621278368&set=a.226729858367.174830.155893938367&type=1&theater Also, for entertainment purposes, there are some pretty good comments in there.

  22. Not so. I wouldn't be. I know how much parks treasure reliabilty, safety and life cycle costs. In not a single one of those three categories is INTAMIN the industry leader.

  24. But that is my point, when Kings Island put in SOB, they put in a ride w/ even less reliability than your standard Intamin (or anyone for that matter). Not only did they spend a fortune to build it, and rework it, and then tear it down, SOB gave the park a lot of bad PR, it probably cost the park a fortune in potential business not only from its reputation, but also from the people who said "lets wait till next year, maybe SOB will be open and we can finally try it). the Crypt/TR:TR wasn't nearly the fiasco, but it definently had a less than ideal impact on the park. Toss in all the downtime for Firehawk, and is it any wonder that their last 2 installations have been from the company that currently sets the standard in reliability? The argument has never been that intamin rides are terrible, other than shoot the rapids, most of their recent, "local" installations have been popular. I'll assume KI knows it can get relatively the same amount of attention/profit from Banshee as they could from installing a TTD clone, but they probably feel more comfortable that Banshee will be up and running on a more regular basis and provide the average park attendee a better experience on any given day just by the assumption that it will be open on the day they are there. At this point in time, the last think KI can stand is another SOB or The Bat coaster, one that is both innovative and up and running for a much, much shorter time than you'd expect.

  25. Correct, they make the most awesomeness coasters! So you care about awesomeness over reliability?

  31. It is impressive they are working three areas now. Station, lift hill and final approach. I figured it would do like Gatekeeper and go from station thru the course flow and then finish at the brake run.

  32. I have the utmost respect for that company and their work. They always complete jobs very quickly despite very trying circumstances. The winters when Diamondback and Gatekeeper were constructed were less than ideal and yet they still finished those jobs at an amazing pace. It's also nice that most of the coasters footprint is outside of areas the park guests are utilizing so construction should be unimpeded for the most part.

  33. I would assume the station, lift and brake run get built first since that is where most the eleterical/mechincal compents will be.

  34. In 2011...TTD had basically more downtime than uptime, and at least went down once per day be air leak, rollback, stuck fins, or other operational issues. I went down mainly for weather, went down mechanical three times, one PLC issue, one semi serious issue, and one routine train maint that robbed us of one train for a week. We went down other times but very briefly to confirm a safety issue or check something, but nothing to the level of TTD...just saying And my capacity was higher

  41. TR I- WindStyler Being a Wednessday and the last day for DOP, I thought it would be great to take advantage of the no line rides that day. Getting up there around 4, I jolted straight for Beast, I do love my Beast, and I rode it for about 2 times in a row. After I took to the skies on WindSeeker, or should I say WindStyler? I rode it about 3 times in a row, and on my last getting a great comb over, which now we shall all dub WindSeeker, WindStyler.(While walking to RT, I saw SpitFire I believe, but I didn't say hi because I didn't know if it was her or not!) I walked to the Larosa's in RiverTown after those rides and got my favorite things at Kings Island, pizza, and mello yello. You would think after you eat you quit the coasters, right? No! Right after I trekked over to the Flight Deck. When one is in Action Zone, do as the KI Enthusiasts do, and take photos upon photos over little progress at the construction site and talk all about it going down to Flight Deck! Flight Deck, I haven't rode it once all year, but I rode it and I remember why I love it. Without the SOB, you feel like you are going faster through the course and it feels more spacious, not cramped.I got to ride Flight Deck a few times before getting off and going over to ride other coasters. I finally got to one of my favorite coasters at KI, Flight of Fear. Instantly I thought this was the best idea from the line being completely void of people. To add to the great experience, half way through the lights turned on, a first for me, but not the first on an indoor coaster (See Space Mountain, WDW). I got to ride it 3 more times after that and got off the final time to get a few last rides on a few attractions. Then we saw a system rolling in, and thought it was about to rain on us, and gladly it didn't. I got onto The Beast for the last rides of the night, and I do love it when I get these final rides, less line, and a better experience knowing you are the last to ride the coaster for the day. Over all it was a great day to go, and if you missed out on going last week, you missed some of the shortest lines I have ever seen!

  45. Being bored I was checking out some Historical amusement park footage and came across this- A few things I noticed was that CP didn't put much effort into the switch from Banshee to Mantis (not just in the animation) and The similarities to this animation and KI's Banshee. Just thought it would be nice to share this for comparisons and historical searching.
