  1. Because Don SAID that no one has correctly guessed.

  2. I don't think anyone has had a shed full of people who pummel riders with water balloons on a wooden roller coaster before. So, that's still on the table.

  4. This was a hard one for me to think of something I really regret. I guess I wish I had seen more shows as a kid? More of an appreciation for Paramount during their golden years (93-96). Are these really regrets, though? With the risk of sounding arrogant, who can say they've accomplished as much with Kings Island as me who has never been on the payroll? My fingerprints are all over that place. If I walked away and never came back, I would have feelings of content rather than regret. I guess my perspective is unique.

  5. Ok...seriously, this isn't going to be drop track. It'd be very technical to combine a drop track section with a transfer track, that building is the only logical spot for a train shed, and GCI is one of the last companies I can think of to try something like that. Not. Gonna. Happen. Don't go by animation so much. Use actual logic to think things through.

  6. Okay, those blueprints were a big hint. There were squares on the diagram, indicating that something important was indicated on the construction blueprint. I researched some symbols for diagrams and found squares indicated valves. I later found that a filled in square indicated a hydraulic valve. It makes sense for two separate systems for the shed. One is for the doors, another is for a prop. Hydraulics could be used to extend an object (let's say a vine, this is MT we are talking about). Synchronize it with motions with drive tires, you could make a scene where the vines are pulling the car back. GCI has used sound effects on rides (Apocalypse) so a synchronized tire screech sound effect could simulate escaping from the vines.

  7. Watch the video. Don clearly says that no one has guessed correctly what's in the shed. I know I'm stumped. It seems like just about everything has been guessed.

  8. True a lot of coasters do have dark ride sections at the end of the ride.. but how many of them are wood coasters?

  9. It's the world's first Tom&Chee coaster. The shed is just the drive through for picking up the food. JK. But when did he say no one has guessed correctly? It could be a viewing experience where drop down screens project different viewing experiences for each car.

  10. I feel like "it's going to separate Mystic Timbers from any wooden roller coaster" is one of those ways of saying something without saying anything. Are there any other wooden coasters with some kind of show scene at the end of the ride? I can't think of any.

  12. Don said on the Facebook Live video that it's going to separate Mystic Timbers from any wooden roller coaster... So what has not been done on a wooden roller coaster before? (Other than a Drop track, do not mention Drop Track, it's not happening.) Not only that. No one has STILL correctly guessed what is in the shed.

  13. During his spot on FOX19 Now this morning, Don Helbig mentioned something interesting about the shed experience. He was asked about how Mystic Timbers will be different at night: "Yeah, very much again like The Beast: two different experiences, totally different animal at night. Then you have also that tantalizing mystery with this ride of what's in the shed, and that's going to be different as well too, you know. So there's going to be some light that comes in the shed during the day, not at night, so again two different experiences." I've mentioned before that I think what is in the shed is screens. It makes me wonder if he was alluding to more of a difference than it being darker in there at night, like maybe a different video experience. Only 93 days (possibly less) until we should know!

  14. The animation doesn't show anything. I wouldn't trust the animation for anything, as it's for a look at how the ride will (more or less) run with.

  15. Just saw a POV and it looks like it was designed in or inspired by RCT3 because it has a lot of those "overbanked turn" type of elements as available for RCT3 Gigas. However, that wave element going into the tunnel dive starting at 1:46-1:48 (plus the tunnel itself) of this POV (see below) looks incredible!

  17. I'm intrigued by height of first shed building. Could prop vines drop from walls and ceiling and interact with riders similar to what was done by a Disney for extraTERRORestrial attraction?

  18. Uh...about every Disney coaster and a few Universal Studios coasters have dark ride-esque sections.

  20. I regret being a chicken when it came to riding roller coasters when I was younger. And I regret not riding the Backlot Stunt Coaster when it was still Italian Job and had more effects.

  24. Good to go for this year's prime coaster event. Beast tour set for 2 pm. Now the hard part, the long wait. Only thing left to do is find some decent hotel deals near the park.

  25. I finally renewed my expired GOCC membership last week, but I'm debating if I want to do this. I also want to do HoliWood Nights, which I haven't done since 2013, and I don't think I can afford both. Decisions, decisions...

  28. ^ You are correct that 1711.551 covers that guests must follow parks signage. Page 12: http://www.agri.ohio.gov/divs/Rides/docs/Revised Ridebook.pdf

  29. ^ They can still get into trouble, as they are sticking an insecure object outside of the bars of the platform. I've honestly tried searching for the law myself, and I have yet to find anything about video recording or photography on rides. But since the park is displaying the warnings and directions (1711.551 B-3) as a rule that you cannot take video/photography on rides, then it's breaking the law.

  32. Looking at the webcam, I have to hand it to the workers. Putting up or adjusting the chain on the lift hill, they walk around as if they were on the ground. Meanwhile, trees sway in the high winds.

  34. A brown splotch on the animation is proof of a drop track yet the renderings, both still and animated that clearly show the shed buildings are open below are discounted as maybe being inaccurate. I am surprised some of you are not still taking about the reverse launch that defys physics.

  35. Also from FOX19 Now, Don Helbig gave an update on where construction is at the moment. The lift hill and first drop, and going into the first part of the ride are done, but coming around the train house, over WWC and back to the station still needs to be completed. It is still on course to be finished by opening day, tho.

  36. Either that, I'm getting that you think there might be two intentional experiences in there, similar to Verbolten's little show portion having three styles. I took that the shed won't be completely sealed from light. So, lots of underglow like is seen in typical tunnels.. I hope it won't be super humid in that shed... maybe that's why some light will spill in too, air vents towards the top

  38. Double posting, but in the animation, as the train leaves the station, transfer track is seen protruding from the first segment of the shed. However, the track segment is elevated to such a degree, that a clearance envelope would be violated. Hence the only way to return to the track height of the second structure while covering 0 feet horizontally is a drop track. 39. Just got alerted to a possible mistake in the animation. As you leave the station there is a clue that will tell you what is in the shed.

  41. The words here are professionalism and integrity. If you are asked to bid a project and given foundation and structure drawings to do so, one you don't share with your friends. Second, as a friend you don't spread them all over the internet and possibly risk your friend loosing his bid. Third, they don't reveal what's in the shead.

  43. Not riding The Racer backwards is one regret I have. When I was younger I really didn't like roller coasters that much, so that really prevented me on going on the backwards side of The Racer. I think me not trying roller coasters also really prevented me from not riding a couple rides such as the Son of Beast (which despite all I heard, I regret not being able to ride it).

  44. Could be an optical illusion but from the DB webcam, it looks as if there is going to be a final drop either just before (or inside) the shed.

  45. More than likely will not have either.....Thunderhead just has brakes in the station and transfer shed. Those items don't necessarily help with capacity, clearing the blocks, having fast/safe crews and no bins will do that.

  47. When you're driving down U.S. 42 South, descending the hill approaching the State Route 48 junction, and you see WindSeeker, Eiffel Tower and Drop Tower on the horizon which triggers a flood of memories of all the wonderful excursions you've enjoyed at the Island (which of course reveals your longing for April 15th to come around)... When you look on the Kings Island website and rejoice upon noticing "Park Opens April 15th" in the "Kings Island Hours" widget near the top of the page... When you install a countdown app on your phone and enter Opening Day as an event. 97 days to survive enjoy!
