It's great to see CF starting to focus on some of its more minor parks now (I realize KD isn't a minor park compared to something like Dorney or Michigan's Adventure, but it still isn't one of the company's biggest parks in terms of fame, especially with Busch Gardens Williamsburg being just an hour away). A major coaster addition just in time for the park's 50th anniversary season is an excellent choice in my opinion, especially one that they can say is "record breaking" to appeal to the general public. It'll be interesting to see what else the park has in store for their 50th anniversary as well.2 points

Every time I go to ride SSBR, I see so many kids just having the time of their lives playing in the Beagle Scouts area.2 points

Palace is owned by the Parques Reu...sorry I can't spell it haha. They open several other venues in North America but I don't think they are under the Palace umbrella. The article said north American properties generate approx 33% of the revenue for the company....are they looking at selling Palace, the other properties or all? This is going to be interesting!1 point

I didn't see it mentioned by name, but I assume they are referring to Palace Entertainment- ie: Kennywood, Idlewild, Adventureland, Lake Compounce... to name a few?1 point

Wonder if it will be a dueling type water coaster or it will just be like a figure-8 style layout? Mmm. I guess we will find out in a week. Exciting either way!1 point

Yes. It was buffet style! Nah, it’s served on a flat wood plank that is admittingly very close in color to the table.1 point

Well with the posts today by the park, hoping for a Cheetah Chase type of racing water coaster! Just went to Holiday a couple weeks ago and really enjoyed the water coasters. And the tons of Voyage rides!1 point

It only took almost 22 years for Dane to get a reply on this thread. I hope he has not been waiting this whole time.1 point

I really need to remind myself to slow down and see things other than amusement parks while on vacation. My recent trip was fun but I regret not having time to see other things. I haven't done the trolley tour in Hershey nor have I seen the museum there. I found a few things I'd like to check out in the Pittsburgh area that I didn't have time to do when I went to Kennywood (fortunately Pittsburgh is a relatively easy drive from CIncinnati - unlike Hershey, which is 7+ hours not counting stops). I am definitely going to take that into account when planning next year's trip. I definitely want to hit KD and BGW, but at least plan on splitting the drive up over two days this time around (last time I was at KD I drove up from Carowinds so I didn't realize how far the drive is from there to Cincinnati until I headed home at the end of the trip), and hopefully throw a day of exploring Williamsburg in there as well.1 point

I would also suggest when doing park trips to also doing other things than parks. Life's too short to do such traveling and miss everything else around the parks. Diversify what you do on trips. On the trip I did last summer, I had a few other things including the best decisions I made in doing downtown Williamsburg and Virginia Beach first, squeezing in a brief visit to Gettysburg between VA and PA, and doing Longwood Gardens and their night fountain show near Philly for last.1 point

Park burnout is definitely a thing. For me it's more specific to going to the same 2 Ohio parks for a few years and continually telling myself that I'll make it out to other parks.1 point

Cedar Point now has this page on their website, not seeing anything similar from Kings Island as of yet. Tower Topics (Ryan/Don) posted this to their Facebook page just a short bit ago. The All Park Passport Will Soon Take You Further (cedarpoint.com) I would assume Kings Island would follow the same trajectory, but a disclaimer that this came from Cedar Point and not Kings Island EDIT - Kings Island now shows the same information as Cedar Point on their website - The All Park Passport Will Soon Take You Further (visitkingsisland.com) Cedar Point is excited to announce that the All Park Passport add-on will offer access to more parks starting in 2025. The All Park Passport is an add-on that allows you to access additional Six Flags parks with a 2025 Cedar Point Gold or Prestige Pass. On a different (related) note: I know I beat the park up a lot (only because I see so. Much. Potential that it frustrates me at times when they get so close and stop) But did chat with Koontz tonight when I bumped into him at Beagle Scout Acres as my 9 year old was running around (for like the 10th time). Told him I rolled my eyes last year when I saw this area was the big addition?!!? But as proven by my kid running around - Playing tag with kids he’s never met, laughing and begging to stay even though Orion only has a 15 min wait??? They’ve tapped into something very needed. A place where kids can just be kids and play. He smiled and said, “thanks. I need to hear that” I think the bad often outweighs the good they hear, so make sure you balance the narrative any way you can.1 point

From what I can remember from my time working in the mazes during haunt (2016 - 2018), no boo necklaces are allowed in the mazes but they don’t do anything to keep you from getting scared. It’s a lot easier to not go through a haunted house than it is to avoid the scare zones. In most cases guests were instructed to turn their necklaces off before entering the mazes because they’re bright and they’re distracting to other guests. I still miss Hot Blooded, as do many many other people. If I could bring back one show, that would be it. I’m still sad that it’s gone all these years later.1 point

I've been on a couple water coasters. They are decent rides, but I'm also not much of a water park guy. Lines there all move too slowly for my liking, and a Master Blaster will be no exception. It'll be something I may ride at most once per year on a slow day. I'm sure the masses that like the water park will enjoy, but it's a very "meh" addition to me personally. Still, I agree that the water park has been neglected for quite some time, so I'm not upset to see something added. In the meantime, I'll just keep hoping that a big coaster announcement is coming for the following year.1 point

Many would not like it if they changed The Beast to Goliath or The Racer to The Bosses. They'd still do the same thing, though.1 point

Since renewing my pass I've been a bit slow on the go getting to the park for XYZ reasons. But a buddy of mine from work was at the park yesterday and asked if I wanted to come out and ride with him. I decided to go ahead and get my first visit in for the season. I didn't really get a chance to survey Camp Snoopy as we were on a mission to ride as much as we could in the short window of time we had ( I fully intend to really take some time to look at everything on my next visit ) but I did get a chance to give the Soapbox a whirl. The station is really neat. Looks awesome. They made it feel like an actual campsite building. There may or may not have been anything missed seeing as we were in the FL que and were the only two queued up for it in said line. My friend was letting me take the reins on asking for specific seats for the day and I politely requested the very back car. The line sep told me that the family in the regular line before us had already requested it, but she kindly placed us in row 8 so we could be as far back as possible. I kindly thanked her and we queued up. We waited for the current train to dispatch and complete its cycle full of riders before it was our turn. When it returned to the station and it was our turn to board, some folks with green slips ended up in our row. Then the folks who had requested row 10 before us told us we could go ahead and take their seats as they had already been on a couple of times. I waved and yelled a big thank you to them as we slipped quickly through the gates and made our way to row 10. Upon sitting in the seat, I will note that the cars are very comfortably designed. Like. This has to be one of the most comfortable family coasters I've ever sat in. At least to me, personally. I felt just snug enough that I felt secure but not so snug that it was without some ability to move. Felt like a nice little recliner in a way. Plenty of leg room too. As soon as we were all checked, they dispatched the train. The kicker tires promptly pulled us backwards with power and efficiency. I looked behind us and realized this thing has a fair amount of height for being a family coaster. Then we were released and away we went. And I gotta say what a wonderfully smooth-gliding machine this thing is. It sailed through the course with a nice little bit of force. That's part of why I wanted the very back because I knew that the chances of feeling what this little family coaster had to offer would be likely towards the back and I was not wrong. Going backwards was just silly fun. Before ya know it, you're parked back inside the station. My consensus? This thing is just pure fun. Even for it being a family-style coaster, it is very re-ridable. Just the right amount of forces to be thrilling for little ones looking for that next step up and enough to make veteran coaster lovers/thrill seekers happy because it's just a good time. This is a solid little installation and one that I will definitely be taking a few laps on. No shame as an adult rider. I am all for the big bad thrills of varying coaster and flat ride varieties, but I really have a soft spot for these kinds of rides as they are just a good time and I think that's just as important to have in a ride collection as any large thrill attraction. Its a nice way to break things up. All in all, great job Vekoma and KI! Makes me want that big mega looper from Vekoma (hint hint ). Because if this little family ride is this nice, I can only imagine what a major installation from them would be like!1 point

It would be awesome if the 2ft steam engine that was replaced by an electric train was moved to Carowinds.0 points
