The new area looks great. Not sure how I feel about the name "Wind Chaser" though. It seems the park wanted to keep part of the original Storm Chaser name, but I think they should've just went with a completely different name instead. The coaster is supposed to be themed to an Owl, so something like "Nightowl" would've fit a lot better in my opinion than Wind Chaser.

The new area will be a nice addition for their Halloween and Christmas events. I wonder if another park somewhere purchased Eye of the Storm since it’s not visible in the overall park view in the video.

Can't remember where I read it, but Eye of The Storm apparently has been or will be removed. Not sure if scrap or sold.

Great to see Herschend working their magic with the park. KK has been all but ignored for years, with the exception of Storm/Wind Chaser, Lightning Run and Kentucky Flyer. Scout's Squirrel Race is basically the same as Snoopy's Space Buggies so I'm sure that'll be a big hit with the younger ones.

I don't understand why the are adding another one of these. They have a frog hopper in King Louie's Playground.  Why didn't they just move it over to the new section?

Kind of like how Cedar Point has two balloon race rides in two different areas. This will give the younger kids a little something else to do while the family is in that area, where older kids can do higher thrill things and the younger can do smaller thrill things.

I understand why CP would do that, but KK is 60 acres and CP is 350 acres. It will probably all make sense when they renovate the front if the park, looks like there is going to be lots of space opening up there.

Was at the KFEC today and snapped a few KK construction pics.  Can’t see much from the perimeter road, but it’s definitely a construction area.

BTW - the kids coaster (former Roller Skater) has been painted (except for one bit on the lift hill - as far as I could tell.)

Also, the Giant Wheel’s legs are still standing.  I know there’s been some enthusiasts questioning its removal, but it appeared to me it’s just disassembled for a refurbishment.

The pictures may show that the relocation of the rides at the front of the park (pirates ship, Drop Tower, and airplanes) may be a bit behind schedule due to the harsh winter cold and snow this season. There appears tons of work still to do before the May 9 season pass reveal. Hopefully, March and April will be milder to finish relocations, landscaping, and ride re-paints/re-theme in time (and not another “opening later spring” scenario on ride entrance signs after the park opens in early May)

They are wanting to appeal to families.  Storm Chaser was an enthusiast coaster. I'd conjecture they are wanting Wind Chaser and Woodland Run to appear less intimidating and more family friendly as they are integrated into the reimagined land.

They want to make money off of their investment at Kentucky Kingdom. Families are lucrative. Enthusiasts may be lucrative as individuals, but as a cohort, they are like grains of sand on a beach.

This is exactly right.  Herschend is moving the park away from the long-standing/former "Thrill Park" moniker.  The idea is to "soften" the image of the park - to become geared to families.  Future expansions & additions will reflect that intent.  A good example is that two of the more "thrilling" flat rides are quietly being removed this year - Eye of the Storm and Cyclos.

With a focus on seasonal events, I look for the park to make even more family-focused changes in the years to come.
