BoddaH1994 Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 Looks like the old western town will be getting a new lease on life. Quote For our 50th Anniversary season, we’re breathing new life into the town section of the attraction by repairing and repainting the buildings, replacing old signs and adding extra theming elements. Items to be added include a horse, turtle, dog on the porch, lanterns and six cowboys. A beaver family and new bear will be added later this summer. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/blog/2022/march/k.i.--miami-valley-railroad-part-of-kings-islands-ride-refurbishment-program-for-50th-anniversary-season?fbclid=IwAR30-nKfu910wXC5ZsmSawOd3d6QHi9ToeNhd-V8E8mEIT1vv0AXFkEBIok 10 1 Quote
Coasterteam Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 Love it! I'll need to get a ride on it opening day. edit: not gonna lie, was hoping for a Beast blog post maybe next week 2 Quote
KIghostguy Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 Great news. Badly needed for a long time, and super happy to hear that this is happening! The characterization of the town as being an "old western town" in the blog is quite odd though--it's supposed to represent Lebanon c. 1803. I hope the Golden Lamb sign is brought back! 6 Quote
Snowball Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 Oh wow, I’m really excited for this one! It’s been in need of an overhaul for so long! 3 Quote

rlentless Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 This is great!! Can't wait to see all the updates opening day. Kudos to the KI management team. 1 Quote
KIEagle33 Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 DB is looking a little on the faded side. 2 Quote
silver2005 Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 The magenta on Banshee has also seen better days. 3 Quote
IBEW_Sparky Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 @CorkscrewMcPuke said the very thing I was coming to say, only my version was "And yet, Diamondback still stands at a young age of 13, looking like a 50 year old hooptie." 1 Quote

Honest to god this idea was in my mind, the idea is that Rivertown was to be owned by someone else that is not in this world. That will make sense giving Rivertown abandoned nature with Mystic Timbers/Diamondback/The Bat/The Beast taking over the woods with a creepy cavern (Crypt) in this town. Quote

I'm pretty sure the picture was a joke...I would hate to see them turn it into some monochromatic, gray monstrosity, no matter what the theming suggests. Amusement parks need color; would love a new post to be about how DB is receiving a fresh coat of paint (original colors). 1 Quote
Bansheelover Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 This is great news. The funny thing is I had a dream early last week before this news broke that I was on the train, and it had been refurbished. Cannot wait until opening day. Quote
BoddaH1994 Posted March 26, 2022 Author Posted March 26, 2022 I’ve been saying for years that a train refurb would be what’s coming for the 50th, of course I thought they’d bring back actors and whatnot. Of course, the direction they’ve gone is incredible. It’s going to feel like a new park! 4 Quote
IndyGuy4KI Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 As much as I love all they are doing for the 50th, I sure hope DB and Banshee are slatted for paint next year. 2 Quote
silver2005 Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 The ones that need paint pale in comparison to when yellow Invertigo needed it. Quote
PKIDelirium Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 Yeah, that old red and yellow became pink and... something really quick. Quote
silver2005 Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 ^The words puke beige in combination isn't against the TOS. 1 Quote
PKIDelirium Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 Ha. Even when they repainted it in 2005, it just didn't last. Considering how Diamondback's track and lift structure has become, and Banshee's magenta-ish, maybe yellow and red just don't work well at KI due to sunlight angles or something. I wouldn't mind Banshee's track looking more like it did in the renderings. The actual track, when it first arrived, was a deeper, more reddish hue. Quote
disco2000 Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 One can certainly understand the darker colors getting impacted by UV degradation and fading, but one would think the lighter colors should have fared much better. 1 Quote
KIEagle33 Posted March 27, 2022 Posted March 27, 2022 ^ Yeah, your probably right, but those darker colors just fit the ride theme perfect! Quote
PKIDelirium Posted March 27, 2022 Posted March 27, 2022 I'd like a Banshee repaint to more accurately reflect the original renderings. I was disappointed when I saw the actual track arrive. Banshee02_8x10_300dpi.webp 1 Quote

Let's try again. I prefer the rendering's track color, and also the structure is a little lighter blue, but that's faded a little so is more like the rendering now. 2 Quote
