Soak City Upgrades & Possible Expansion 2025

It is certainly interesting that Kings Island has been focusing on mini-lands recently. Area 72 is a mini-land inside of Coney Mall, Adventure Port is a mini-land inside of Oktoberfest (or vice versa), and Camp Snoopy will be a mini-land inside of Planet Snoopy. In 2025 or whenever the Soak City expansion is, I think there is a good chance that a mini-land will be added to the water park. This mini-land would probably encompass the back portion of the water park. Maybe Mondo Monsoon, Breakers Bay, and whatever replaces Pipeline Paradise. It could also include Splash River and Zoom Flume, as I know there was a construction marker near there. The Tropical Plunge and Tidal Wave Bay portion of the water park already feels like its own mini-area, so maybe they could build on that?

KD did something similar in 2021 (was supposed to open in 2020) with their Soak City expansion where it was a new section called Coconut Shores that featured a fusion fortress, a kids wave pool, and the beach street food truck area. Maybe KI could do something similar? I personally would love to see us get a larger water playground like one of those fusion fortress complexes that have some thrilling slides along with kids slides along with more than one bucket. Unfortunately I feel like we would lose Breakers Bay for it as I believe KD's replaced their smaller wave pool. I think the beach street would go where Pipeline was extending onto the midway near Mondo Monsoon.

I would really love to see a water coaster be added to SC. I feel that would be one heck of an addition. It could even be a family-styled one like Mammoth at Holiday World where it would have a higher capacity and a wider appeal. I doubt this will happen anytime soon since SC hasn't really gotten anything significant attractions wise in awhile, but one can dream. It does give one hope though with the fact that they did some updating to one of the restaurants, I'd like to think that they are slowing sprucing it up for something great.

If ends up being a new attraction, this is likely the 4th Cedar Fair park that is expanding their waterpark in 2025 based on rumors. The other parks are Cedar Point (a slide complex was just removed), Dorney Park (Lightning Falls/Cascade Slides were removed) and Valleyfair (I've heard some rumblings that they plan to expand their Soak City into their rapids ride area, but take that with a grain of salt as I have no source on that outside of just rumblings.)

I would tend to think, and although I really don't know as much as most of you but it would make sense to place the "mini" area previously mentioned back behind splash landing and seeing something replace zoom flume. It does look likely for a slide near mondo Monson, and as far as pinapple paradise getting something beyond water but revamped bathrooms or mini food stand, the idea of the food truck concept would fit well I think there. I couldn't imagine a removal of wave pool. My idea would be take the area behind splash landing along lazy river, toward zoom flume and using that space to create a mini themed area. Steampunk or something in line with nature, little miami, something beyond beach theme, it really does feel inauthentic the beach theme.

I know you don't exactly need a lot of room for water park additions, but with the proximity to the power lines, I suspect its nothing too big.

I say that because I want SC to get a water coaster at some point, and the I don't think the area in question would fit one. :(

They could get creative and wrap it around. That area is bigger than it looks in the photos.

I did a bit of eyeballing certain water coasters in that space, and while you can't exactly do anything on the scale of Wildebeest at HW, you could do a smaller one like HP's.   You can always go above the path in sections for one in that spot as well.

silver2005, having wishful thinking.

My prediction is a clone of Moosehorn Falls currently under construction at Canada's Wonderland. I honestly believe that CF will probably buy that type of slide in bulk and put them in multiple parks similar to what CF did with the drop slide complexes in the 2010s.

Maybe, or it could be something else as well. This was my thought when Canada's Wonderland put in Snoopy's Racing Railway that it was going to get cloned at the other major CF parks, but we got Snoopy's Soap Box Racers instead.

Even if we just get a new SC slide of some sort, that's better than nothing at all. It's easy to get caught up in the camp of wanting a new coaster as I know personally that would be ideal for many reasons. Not just because I love roller coasters as much as the next person on here, but also because a roller coaster can run through the fall season unlike a water ride. But I have realized that any new installation is a good thing especially with the state of the industry as a whole. There are SO many parks within the CF chain that haven't gotten a new coaster of any variety let alone a new flat ride or water ride. We are fortunate to have gotten Adventure Port last year, a new family coaster this year and very possibly something new for SC next year if these little tiny hints bear any weight.

I just took a look at Moosehorn Falls and that looks like a pretty interesting slide, for the record.

A clone of Moosehorn Falls could be really cool at SC but I think the family slide collection that Schlitterbahn just got would be a great fit for SC.

I haven't been able to go to the park that often due to traveling every weekend since effectively Memorial Day weekend. However, I was able to swing by a few times and using my experience I can probably make a decent guesstimate that this will be a family slide area a la Safari Sam's Splashland. Why? The waterpark has been expanding alot in line with the older audiences and for fair amount of time without adding something new for the kids. I would be upset, but not shocked if the pirate ship goes with it as the pump house for the kid's area is being used for practically 4 separate water districts in that section of the park. (Look Out Lagoon, Castaway Cove, Mondo and Aruba Tuba) Lookout being the pirate ship which has been dated even since the mid 2000's Boomerang Bay, so it's not too far out of the way to see a new family/childrens area to replace it. Seeing a Boomerango would be fun for what the park has been lacking, modern unique water slides that aren't just a slide complex. Packages like what has been mentioned are what CF loves when it comes to waterparks. However, I'm going to allude to my largest gripe with Orion: placement. Sure, it would be perfect next to mondo, but you effectively cordon off the kid's area which could become a new family hub where you could add in the Boomerango near old pipeline paradise (RIP). or perhaps in the field near Breakers which would more than likely call for the need to move Columbia/tunnel for park expansion once the back half has been filled.

Mind you, the Tropical plunge addition was already in the books in 2014 (iirc)  and the ride was announced for 2016, so whatever is coming was already set in stone years ago.

I have been a strong advocate for a water coaster behind Pineapple Plunge, with the terrain having a pretty sizeable drop it's a no brainer to have effectively the water coaster equivalent of The Beast in the waterpark. Will we get it? Probably not, but IMO I think it's a no brainer that the park has been leaving off the board for quite sometime.

The last parting gift for now is a simple issue the waterpark has yet to remedy: staffing. The attractions they would add would need staffing, Boomerango probably would be a 4-person team, something like a small white water west kids slide area probably close to 3. For a waterpark that has a chronic drain issue with their guards for reasons I won't get into, staffing is the biggest hurdle the park needs to accomplish.

With a new waterpark addition coming in 2025, it might be a good time to rebrand the waterpark to Hurricane Harbor.

Please no, just let the water park have its own unique branding.  The Hurricane Harbor brand isn’t strong or notable.

If they are going to do a water park addition for '25, it would be a good opportunity to rebrand it to something more fitting to the area instead of something generic like Soak City or hurricane harbor.

But without a total redo, like the 30million redo of the water park at CGA, it likely will remain a generic wasteland of concrete, plastic, germs, human grease and cellulite. :)
