The little things matter. They’re often what separate a good park from a great one. When the small details start being overlooked, people begin to wonder what else is being overlooked. The smallest details often make the biggest difference. Kings Island built its reputation on attention to detail. Over the past couple of years, attention to detail, and the standards that guests should expect from one of the industry’s premier amusement parks has not been there. There’s no excuse for lack of cleanliness around the park. It used to be a priority. Now it’s not. And it shows. 

I grew up with the park. I care about the park. The small details that are now being missed matter to me.

^ Don I hope they realize this with the number of complaints they probably get weekly. I was lucky when I went with my newly wed wife a month ago, that I didn't notice too many negative things. The only thing I noticed was unclean tables.

You mean geese poop practically part of the floor design at this point at Enrique and Skyline Pavilion is a problem 🤢

Tony ran Operations and was over Park Services when I was in that department.  Crazy how dirty the park appears to be by comparison.  I'm sure it's budget related, mostly.

Im thinking it's a mix of budget/staffing as well as employees not caring to clean up. Like I've seen stories on here as well as in the facebook groups that employees were standing around doing nothing/yapping with each other when they could be cleaning. Imo that's a discipline issue. When I worked in rides, our supervisors would get onto us daily almost to make sure we were cleaning after park close and not standing around talking the whole time.

Halloween Haunt has officially been added to Kings Island's special events webpage. The event will run select nights from September 25th through November 1st, 2026, and will feature scare zones, entertainment, and upcharge mazes. The webpage for this event at Canada's Wonderland also mentions The Conjuring: Beyond Fear, so it feels safe to assume we'll be able to brave the experience once again. I miss how the old version of the website had a customized look for the Halloween Haunt webpage. This version is probably much easier to code though.

 

The webpage for Tricks and Treats lists its dates as being from September 26th through November 1st, 2026. This event is not currently listed on the Special Events webpage, but the updated webpage exists for it. https://www.sixflags.com/kingsisland/events/tricks-and-treats

Winterfest also has an active webpage, though it simply lists that "2026 Dates [are] Coming Soon" alongside the generalized event details. https://www.sixflags.com/kingsisland/events/winterfest

 

Still no updates on when the Celebrate America's 250th event will specifically be held. The event webpage lists activities such as fireworks and drone shows, specialized food and drinks, special entertainment offerings, and America-inspired games that will take place during the celebration. https://www.sixflags.com/kingsisland/events/celebrate-americas-250th

Went to the park the first time this season yesterday, had a blast, Phantom theater: Opening Night was great and did it twice, first time using the flashlight and the second time just taking it all in, rode Congo Falls the first time in decades and really enjoyed it! The drop and splash were so good, you get soaked, I hope they keep it for a long time. If you haven't rode Congo Falls for a while, go ride it, you won't be disappointed! The nighttime show as fun as well.

I was at the park today and noticed something interesting, PTON was closed during the thunderstorm. Did BBOBH ever close in a thunderstorm, and to anybody that knows why, why would an indoor dark ride close during a thunderstorm?

Maybe the lightning bolts released more Ghost Notes than the newly-recruited ushers could handle. 😉

The indoor rides will close if a thunderstorm is directly over the park.  No sense in lightning being on top of the park and striking the building and killing the power or worse and needing to evacuate.

Can confirm. I was waiting in line for Flight of Fear a few years back and the ride went down due to storms.

The rides close in phases based on lightning proximity, with the final phase being all rides closed.

I believe the rule is lightning strike within 10 miles.  They are closed for 30 minutes.  The time resets after each lightning strike within 10 miles.

Height of ride determines the miles. 15, 10, 5 miles, and right over the park.

There are (apparently) three large company buyouts at the park today, at least one of which provided tickets and all-day dining passes. I thought about heading over after work but there was no way I'd have even made it through the parking lot. Today is less "giving away the gate" and more "we're fine bringing in a metric ton of guests with standard staff placement". I'm sure it being National Carousel Day also helped to bring in some crowds 🤣 (I'm only slightly joking but nonetheless happy National Carousel Day to our beloved 100-year old Grand Carousel!)

Really though having three big companies there today is probably what added to all of those crowds.

Also heard from multiple people that despite the huge crowds that were definitely anticipated there were still several drink stations closed causing lines at the ones that were open to back up siginificantly as well as at the food stands. I saw one comment on facebook saying they had to wait in a huge line at potato works just to get a drink bc the other drink stands closeby were closed. That's inexcusable and a fireable offense by upper management! It's one thing to have drink stands closed on dead weekdays, but on a Saturday in July when several companies are doing their picnic that day and are giving out drink passes for attendees?! That's completely inexcusable! 

Also heard a rumor (idk if true) that one of the companies also offered Fast Lane passes which would explain the pic I saw of Diamondback's Fast Lane line spilling out onto the midway. I may sound entitled for saying this, but in my honest opinion if guests are waiting more than 20 minutes in the Fast Lane line, you've oversold the passes!
