I'm hoping tomorrow NOT being Good Friday will help the crowds, at least for the 1st half of the day.  Fingers crossed!!!

All the catholic elementary and high schools are out on spring break and the home schooled kids and stay at home moms with kids and people who took a vacation day for a 3 day weekend to go , and high 70's for weather with no rain; gonna bet it will be busy and busier later as other schools get out for the day to join in the madness that is preview day 2023.

Man, I didn't realize school have spring break this late in the year.  I teach in Indiana.  Our Spring break was the week of March 20 :P

But yeah, the spring break school won't help, but I'm hopeful that not being Good Friday will be somewhat helpful.

With the Timberwolf entrance being labeled and talking about concert tickets, makes me wonder are they doing more concerts than just Spirit Song this year? Like they announced last year's concert series at the end of April. In the past when it was just Spirit Song, they only had Timberwolf labeled and not the entrances.

I hope Mystic Timbers’ lighting package from Winterfest returns for the regular season. I also hope that The Racer’s lighting package is fixed as half the lights on the lift hill are out and the lights on the third hill has been out for years (but I doubt that will ever be fixed at this point).

Did the old James Bond, days of thunder building have blue signs on it? One says shipping and receiving, another small one had a cactus on it

Those signs are part of the theming for the entrance of Hotel St. Michelle.

It looks really good!

Yeah, I was REALLY glad to see the transfer/storage structure painted, it fits in so much better. The pool is the cleanest I've seen it for a while, pretty sure they either painted or blasted the concrete.

I was hoping the light pine fences would get a darker color to match, but overall it's great, just need to get the rest of the ride done.

I’m amazed how much work there is still left to be done in the park when tomorrow is “opening day.” We already know Adventure Port won’t be ready, but I was surprised Diamondback is only partially painted. Any track beyond the Crypt building still needs painted. I didn’t see any boom lifts nearby, I hope they don’t do Diamondback like they did The Racer. The Beast was down multiple times today, I thought last season The Beast had more downtime than usual as well. I wonder if the re profiled hill might have something to due with it. I know today was basically a “soft opening” I am hopeful that today was just a one off and not a continuation of the issues from last year.

I think its more of a change of strategy across the industry.  Less and less we see parks having their new stuff ready for their respective opening days and usually have them ready for the bulk of the busier season around and after Memorial Day.

Yeah, agreed. this was very odd to me. Park doesn't look very good.Mulch was not even close to being finished and some of the places only had half of it down and it looked sloppy. They cut Japanese Maple trees down in multiple areas that were beautiful just last year.  Adventure Port not open until summer? Weird as well. AE closed for a long time too. They had all off season to finish this as well. Cedar Fair always seems to find ways to close rides down for extended periods of time.  Never seen the park look this bad for opening day either. Worlds of Fun apparently had this issue as well. In the past, this seems like it would all be finished.  Very odd and concerning.

If the park was a year round park, I don't think anybody would mind as much, It's only because it's seasonal that it looks bad on their end. Yet another reason I think more parks should consider it in some capacity. It would relieve lots of things like this since there is no defined off season. Since supply chains and construction worker shortages are ramping up, It will likely only get worse as time goes on throughout the industry. Sadly, times are changing.
