  1. This goose looks like it's very amazed by Orion

  3. Will the angle of descent help or hinder the experience? The only thing that comes to mind with with was that for decades Vortex had the best drop in the park, and that was not angles in a particularly vertical manner.

  4. Now that's an 85° drop if I've ever seen one!

  7. I think it would be possible to have a flat (or two?) on the grassy area that is currently to the left of The Bat's queue. The area I am talking about occurs after you go under the tunnel and see The Bat in all it's glory. When you turn to the left to continue down the pathway (which eventually leads up and down some steps) there is a grassy area near where the old monorail storage building is. This is where I'm thinking a flat or two could go. Again, you'd still have to traverse the weird exit path that is a bottleneck during Haunt (with Wolf Pack, Blackout and The Bat's queues in close proximity to each other during Haunt), but maybe this could be opened up to be an official path (like, rip out some of The Bat queue near Blackout maybe and have the entrance queue start close to near where the "exit" is- where you can see the ride make that huge turn close to the pathway). Hope this makes sense. I really hope The Bat doesn't leave us any time soon; it's one of my favorites!

  8. Your starting speed at the top of each hill between the Intamin and B&M gigas are different since one uses cable lifts and the other uses chain lifts.

  9. See one is a intamin giga and the other a b&m giga, they design their drops differently. I think Orion will compare more to Fury’s then i305 since it’s the same company. Orion may have a little more ejectory feeling going down because it’s steeper while also being 20 feet shorter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. Personally, I don’t believe so. If you’ve been on the other B&M gigas, the steeper angle makes it feel like the drops just goes on forever!

  11. I dunno if this was anyone here on KIC, but Amusement Insiders on Youtube has made a what-if RMC Son of Beast: Also, I found the video by GP to Enthusiast a few posts ago very informative. I knew there was a bump in the double helix (aka the Rose Bowl) but I thought it was near the bottom of the helix, not the top, and didn't realize that a train actually came to a dead stop- I thought it still completed the rest of the course, but injured people and then the ride was e-stopped in the station. (Granted Train #2 actually DID do this according to the same video- sadly if the ride was E-Stopped Train #1 was back on the track and past the lift already...)

  14. Hey guys. I'm bumping this thread because I just made a Son of Beast recreation in No Limits 2, and I figured it would be worth sharing here. I always had a huge love of just the way the ride looked. It's gargantuan structure was truly awesome, so I couldn't help but try and replicate it myself. Let me know what you guys think! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDYsbSrJSJ4 EDIT: Here are some screenshots of the coaster!

  15. ^Ill keep updated if anything becomes available. I remember i had tears rolling down my eyes on my final ride. Ill never forget that moment as long as I live. May Vortex rest in peace. (I may (or may not) (ok ill admit it) have tears in my eyes as I type this. Please keep me updated you guys if any peices become available. May my #1 rest in peace. Goodbye old freind.

  16. Trust me if we had a legal way of getting a piece we all would. Vortex has been my #1 since I was just a kid. I hit many milestones on it. I was there for the end. If the opportunity arises you'll hear it first here.

  17. Is there anything us at KICentral can do to get a peice of Vortex? Im sorry its just that i would love a small peice of my favorite ride of all time. Vortex holds a special place in my heart. And it really brings tears to my eyes to see her go. I want a peice of Vortex. And so do we all. Can we all get together to try and get the park to sell peices even if its just a small peice? Im sorry its just that this is really personal to me, and I absolutely hate seeing Vortex go down.

  19. Saying how each element on a coaster is going to feel is completely subjective. One person may not experience everything the same with the way we're all wired differently. I take all that with a grain of salt.

  21. Looks like they have made several cuts to section everything off for the final blow. I'll bet the skyline is clear by the end of the week unless the weather interferes. I really hope the park decides to take some of the steel and turn it in to trinkets of some kind for the general public. I doubt they'd sell sections of track as even a tiny piece like the one shown on the now-removed Reddit post would be heavy. If they do decide to do that - I'll be out here on the forum asking one of you locals to pick one up for me since I'm a long way from the park but still a big fan of Vortex ...

  22. I was going through some old video tapes and found footage I shot of KC from the lower Eiffel Tower observation deck. This was taken on April 7, 1989 at The Beast 10th Anniversary event held for ACE and others. It was the day before the 1989 season opened. https://1drv.ms/v/s!AuNvMH5MAYNOks9mtQBhvIzIMNmV5Q?e=peQeQb Enjoy!

  24. I was there the day of the collapse. No one in the park knew what was going on, but I remember helicopters circling over head. This was before the day and age of true internet data where everyone would know. I am not sure if I got around to riding it in 2009 before it closed for good. I think didn’t. No regrets though. I know there is a spectrum of opinion, but to me the ride sucked. To me it’s a lot like Vortex. I miss having it, but I don’t miss riding it.

  25. I know the 2006 accident for Son of Beast and it's demise has been talked about probably more than any other topic. But I found this recent video about the 2006 accident and what led to it. I just wonder if there was any time for the operators to stop the 3rd train after possibly hearing any complaints from riders. About a bump from the previous two trains that gave riders a jolt. Did anyone complain and was ignored? Or was it simply too late to stop the train that came to a complete sudden stop from the dip in the track. I was at the park 3 days before it closed forever in 2009. I always kind of wished I rode it one last time that day. But the truth was I didn't want to ride it because it hurt my thighs too much in the helix's. Felt like someone was pounding me with a club or something.

  26. I think your statement about it being in a weird spot in the park is a big reason why it could actually last longer. It is not one of the easier to develop spots, and aside from a couple of the turns towards the end of the ride near the old Son of Beast station it isn't really sitting on any prime land to use. I do think it does have it's days numbered as many of these types of coasters are slowly leaving but I feel it is safe for now. I agree with others that Invertigo will likely be the next as it has horrible capacity and still often doesn't have real long lines. It and Congo Falls together make up a great plot for a new coaster/development. As well as boomerang coaster like this are also dropping like flies so it is likely not going to stick around for a real long time itself. I enjoy it it if I'm sitting in the outward facing seat on the end so I'm looking down for the first drop as it gives a bit of a Drop Tower type feel with watching the ground as you are pulled higher and then held there looking down, plus seeing the end of the track coming up when climbing the second lift. Outside of that I find the ride pretty average and usually get a bad headache, and just not with the wait so would be fine to see it go.

  30. ^ Wow, that is actually one of the best recreations of Son of Beast I've ever seen. Looks accurate to what the real ride was like, at least based on POV's (never got to ride the wooden monster myself before it was scrapped). I also agree 100% on the way the ride looked- it was an amazing looking wooden structure, especially due to how tall it was AND the fact they put that pre-drop dip all the way up there. I have also attempted to make Son of Beast myself in RollerCoaster Tycoons 2 & 3 (not very good at No Limits 1 or 2, at least not enough to recreate a real ride with any accuracy at this point). Here's what my efforts came up with (in RCT3- The trees are a mod BTW but I used the in-game wooden track): http://i772.photobucket.com/albums/yy10/McSalsa/Shot0001_zpsrhqd130r.png~original http://i772.photobucket.com/albums/yy10/McSalsa/Shot0000_zpsfcezhqkg.png~original

  31. If you could pick one coaster to have built in your backyard to ride whenever you want, what would it be? To make it a little more interesting, only list an existing ride model that costs less than $10,000,000. If RCDB or Wikipedia (or any other official source) do not list a price, it doesn’t count! My personal choice, a Chance Hyper GT-X! Lightning Run is one of my favorite coasters.

  32. I honestly think for the forseeable future that Kings Island is going to be in a remove/replace mode. We don't want to over expand the park for this area.

  38. Why is everyone so down on Congo Falls? A very easy ride to operate, one can assume it takes little $$ to upkeep, manpower, etc. A wet ride on the side of the park that has none...perfect for hot summer days Quick, easy ride for hot and busy summer days. Can be closed on cold days with good reason. Small footprint. Why on earth would KI remove it?

  40. We have a lock on piano via @pianoman and a bona fide OSU worthy trombone player in @Ride On_17. Still need a tenor and/or bari sax, trumpet, guitar, bass (electric or double), drums/2nd cowbell, 1 or 2 singers, and a 3rd cowbell part. @IndyGuy4KI and @malem can be band managers and the rest of KIC are the groupies. There is a discussion to be made for @VortexBFForever or @stashua123 for marketing, but will be discussed at a future date. #KICmusicshenanigans

  42. I don't know. The Bat is one of my favorites at the park imo. I think Invertigo and Congo Falls will be the next to leave. Both at the same time. However, not too many people thought they would remove Vortex now so idk.

  43. Cool I wasn't sure how long or how many cycles needed to test for readiness. Times flying lol. Interesting that it right only takes about 20 days to get it all sorted out. But since this isn't the first giga, they should mostly know what's expected in the testing anyways. It'll be fun to watch going around it's course.

  44. That's just my though in my mind, but it's a good one. I want you guys to predict what to come in that area if you agree. Here's my Prediction. Rides: Renamed of Drop Tower and Congo Falls. Falltrum (Drop Tower in German)/Rolling Hills (Inspire by Germans who rolling down the hill into a muddy bottom (sometimes) because their drunk.)/Back drops on most rides in OktoberFest. (Not including Banshee/Sling Shot) Shows: Slap Dance Stage, Next to Rolling Hills' Entrance/Festhaus: Love And Honor Polka, A 9 min. show in the Festhaus with polka dancing included. Food: Sausage in OktoberFest's Festhaus. Theme section: The Original will be looking like the past OktoberFest, While in Action Zone it will be the modern OktoberFest. Do you like my idea, Reply and thanks for your support. Goodbye.
