The KIC admin are going to moderate and do their best to follow the TOS along with making a decision based on other known and possibly not known factors. We are not always going to make a decision that makes everyone happy. On the subject of The Bat. I removed a thread that was posted by a member claiming to have insider information from Charlotte without revealing a source. The park nor KIC admin owe or need to make a statement because a thread gets posted about an insider information rumor. I have spoken to the park and there is no plan to remove The Bat. As of right now, The Bat being removed at the end of the 2025 season is just a rumor. I realize everyone is a little on edge with the changes the new Six Flags company is making. We are all passionate about our park and want to see it be its best. We also can't get so upset about the things we don't like that we forget to enjoy the park.4 points

Unfortunately I don't think with the current leadership and ride removal trends that The Bat will last too much longer but I hope they can get a 5 year plan in the works to retire AND replace the older attractions they want to get rid of. For example we all know that boo blaster, Invertigo, and Congo have to be on the short list of soon to be removed rides and The Bat can't be too far behind them. If they could remove all 4 by the end of 2030 and have built a new dark ride, a new coaster in The Vortex plot, AND a coaster in the Invertigo/Congo plot, I'd say that would be acceptable. However, making no investment and only removing rides is not what anyone wants to see happen to the park. While I hope we never see the day that The Bat gives it's final rides, all I'm asking for Kings Island, Six Flags, Cedar Fair, or whoever is in charge of these decisions is PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give the fans a 3-4 weeks notice like has historically been customary to do and don't just tear down a ride that has been a classic at the park for over 30 years without any word during the off season. I understand that rides get old and are removed but please Kings Island have the respect for the guest and the fans of the ride to at least give them a chance to get final rides if that decision ever has to be made4 points

https://www.cedarpoint.com/calendar-and-hours Note that they’re closed Tuesday and Wednesdays in the early season. Plus 8:00 closes into June and starting again August 18. This is less days and operating hours for Cedar Point’s season pass holders. It should be noted that Kings Island has not yet released their 2025 calendar. Now more than ever, the wise financial decision is to wait until you see what you’re getting before you fork out your hard-earned money.4 points

I am reminded of a quote that Jason McClure (former GM of CP and now Senior VP in SIX) has said and I have used it on the forum frequently as to why something may or may not be said from Corporate: "It is important to remember that Cedar Fair is a publicly traded company and that affects the type and timing of our communication." That simple statement says it all. There are countless of real world, everyday examples demonstrating this same technique in other businesses and industries. At the end of the day, they are not under any obligation to tell us the whole truth and thus they control the narrative and how it is presented (unless of course someone leaks it out earlier). The fact of the matter is someone in the know will not officially come out and say something against the narrative the park is telling...unless they don't care about potentially losing their job LOL.2 points

Unfortunately, that leaves a lot to be desired, found out. Hoping someone tonight can post the menu and pricing.2 points

I'm not trying to be difficult here--there's every possibility that you're 100% correct--but you do have to admit that there have been many posts over the years that claimed to factually have insider knowledge of what's coming and going that are still active posts on this site. Not to mention that if the person claiming The Bat is on its way out is correct, there wouldn't be equipment on site in December 2024 if it's being removed in late 2025 or early 2026. You've got me as far as the whistleblower thread goes. I'm not enough of a conspiracy theorist to be sure of myself here, but there's a part of me that wonders if, since the ride removals are allegedly being done without warning in order to minimize loss of season passholders, the park would have a vested interest in not letting that story gain a lot of visibility. It IS odd that one thread stayed while the other disappeared.2 points

I sent a request on the Contact Us form about pricing and menu. Haven't heard anything back as of yet, but today is the first night it is "open" to the public. If anyone goes, please post the info2 points

The only way to know in advance would be if KI updates the website, or if you called, given the call center is open. As far as price, it is typically around the $35 range. Last year they did an upcharge for $7-8 for the dessert. I called about that last week, and was told that they have not seen any indication that there will be the dessert upcharge this year. The rep I spoke to said the menu simply said "choice of one dessert". We are planning on giving it a try on Sunday, so we are in the same cross our fingers and hope there isn't a last minute buyout as well!2 points

Hmmm so we get ride of Ka and Dragster because of how many maintenance issues they had and Saudi can't seem to keep their super crazy coasters open on a reliable basis either so if we are having issues with 400' coasters, why would we be pushing it to 1000'? Sounds like a billion dollar failure in the making to me. Maybe they can pull it off but so far the track record of super tall and super fast coasters isn't very good. I thought we learned a lesson when Maverick opened in 2007 that a ride doesn't have to break records or have a large footprint as long as it is well designed with a unique layout and solid elements. Spiegel can say how far we have come from the days of PTC and I agree that we have but to the credit of PTC their coasters have an indefinite lifespan and still have good ridership. I hear so many kids at Kings Island say "this is my favorite ride" when I'm in line for The Racer. The Pheonix at Knoebels is still winning golden ticket awards. We may have come along way from PTC but they did build some pretty amazing rides for their time that are still thrilling and famously reliable. I have to say that PTC coaster don't seem to have as much maintenance and downtime as other coasters seem to have. Simpler days and times = better reliability I guess.2 points

I agree, and the demand created from that scarcity of a soon to be retired ride would attracts folks to come to the park. Therefore it would warrant transparency. Maybe they don’t want to sell tickets?1 point

I'm hoping to visit this week to get in a couple rides on The Racer and Mystic Timbers.1 point
-
I was, as Gary Wachs told me a few years ago, a "true carney." That's why I believe it's the wrong decision to not be transparent with park fans when a ride is going to be retired and let them know in advance so they can get in their last rides.1 point
-
Yeah - Im not sure if its THAT beneficial to be open ALL this week. I'd love to go, but with work and last days of school with kids, I just don't know if I can make it work out. Its too bad that they can run rides after the first so they could run the event all the way to the weekend after the 1st like Dollywood does. I think they would be slammed then and make it much more worth their while. We might try for Thursday to get a night in before the weekend crowds hit.1 point
-
Hope you had a great time! I'm heading into the park tomorrow, looking forward to my visit, hoping it's low crowds too!1 point

Literally just left, otherwise I would've checked. Tonight was possibly the most dead I've seen the park in ages. Enjoyed 15 minutes of ice skating by myself, solo train on Flight of Fear, and was the only person eating at Coney BBQ. After looking at the other Winterfest parks, apparently we're the only one open during this week (outside of Knotts, which well runs 365). I know it usually picks up later in the week, but still caught myself off guard.1 point

I see what ya did there. I asked SF corporate if they would share inside info with seasonal employees. They said they Schell.1 point

I personally like how the "newish" user comes in and writes a thesis on how they think the TOS suck. As if they were a long time member here, or are they? Schell if I know.1 point
-
I understand the distrust in Six Flags for now....but what I don't get is a newish user comes in and says something to the tune of "The Bat is leaving because someone from Charlotte told me." Not long after the fact that Six Flags says 'xyz' isn't going anywhere....so are we supposed to trust them or not? I always try to ride The Bat as often as I can....so not much will change for me to prepare if this is true. I'll be really sad if it does end up happening.1 point

I wouldn't mind a Snoopy Space family friendly dark ride in that area. I'm sure they can come up with something really cool in that building. I would also like to see a re-theme of this ride since it's been a very long time since we've had one. I would very much like a new coaster in the old Vortex spot, but I would be pleased if we received a new indoor ride.1 point

Seeing that mangled track is so sad. And knowing that Ka will be getting the same treatment is just gut wrenching. Chang/Green Lantern may not have been as iconic as Ka, but it still had a history and still meant something to someone. Had it been allowed to stay at KK I believe it would have been refurbished and still running to this day as a major attraction. And who knows, it might have gotten a floorless conversion when the park came back from the dead and it would be a fun huge coaster still operating today. The what ifs are always mind numbing. All I can say is I realllllllyyy super do not like the direction of this merger thus far. From an optics standpoint this just stinks.1 point

Hold up? Is is confirmed Bat is leaving in 2025 or is it just speculation by another thoosie?1 point

Cedar Point was closed those same Tuesdays and Wednesdays in May this year (and I think 2023 as well).1 point

Love this new era for the industry, where the biggest seasonal park operator is operating under the notion that selling a season pass means only vaguely selling access to a theme park. Don't worry about the fine print. You'll receive what experiences and availability they determined is financially good for them during yesterday's meeting, effective immediately, integrity be darned. Heaven forbid any kind of stink gets raised about a ride being quietly removed so people don't notice until passes are bought and it's a dirt pile.1 point
-
I agree about no notice for ride closures. They did the same thing with Kingda Ka. I never got to experience it and was hoping to make the trek there some day. I still want to go. I was just surprised that there was no announcement about the ride closing for good.1 point
-
People came out for Firehawk and Vortex both. People went to CP for Mantis, Mean Streak, and Wicked Twister. I think some people would have traveled for nighthawk because the Vekoma flying Dutchman coasters are such a rare credit1 point
-
This new corporate era within the company are mostly industry outsiders. No company is completely homegrown, but corporate's prioritization of cheaper outside hires vs internal promotion has slowly gutted any passionate talent. To them, rides aren't ties to memories and experiences that last a lifetime; they're big colorful machines that make money the same way an industrial line robot does. And just like those robots, it's cheaper to get rid of the old expensive ones and put that money into something (or somewhere) else. I remember how great it was to be out in the park on Firehawk's final night; people had traveled a long way to get their closure. Those people also spent a lot of money on Firehawk merch, as well as food, and parking, etc.. I have a feeling those same wallets would've made the journey for Nighthawk as well.1 point

As I said it's all about the money. The new combined chain has proven that money is much more important than customer satisfaction or doing what is morally right which is making announcements BEFORE people pay hundreds of dollars for a season pass for less product. To be fair most people would renew passes regardless but this isn't just an issue of "I didn't get to ride Kingda Ka one last time" (even though that is a valid problem and annoyance). This is a situation of complete lack of communication and denying the facts. Many people including myself were reaching out to the parks about the possibility of closures and they lied multiple times that no closures were planned even saying nothing was planned a week before Kingda Ka closed. Finally some closures were confirmed but there was never official press releases until after the coaster had already given final rides (unknown to most park goers) I don't understand the massive gutting of old attractions all in the same year with no notice and constant lying about it. The only reason I can come up with is MONEY. Money they are going to save by not investing in expensive, maintenance heavy rides, and the money they already got from unsuspecting customers who are now just "surprised" with the fact their favorite rollercoaster is no longer at the park1 point

"It is what it is" might suit many, but not everyone. Remember, a ride you hate is a favorite to someone else with happy memories/sentimental value. I am aware that business decisions are not dictated by emotion, but you know, many industries these days have completely lost their ability to have any human touch. There is always a way to go about things with tact and grace even if it is a must. Just because something has to happen does not mean that there shouldn't be some sense of commitment to the guests/fans that gave them their success. But alas. Here we are. The wheels will keep turning and laser cutters will slice steel tracks and bulldozers will level grounds. And people will continue to purchase passes and patronize these facilities. I just think the people deserve better. *shrugs*1 point

Sounds like a "family- thrill attraction" to me Sent from my SM-S926U using Tapatalk1 point

I know some of you will adjust but I'm young in age and old at heart and I'll complain about removals without notice till my final days. The industry can change all it wants but it doesn't mean I have to like it. It'll happen regardless of what I like but I can file complaints to the end of time1 point

I didn't think he was saying this coaster will be reliable (the tech he mentioned is forward thinking, but so was the tech wit TTD an KK at the time). I think he was saying that its coming. Let's face it...if it happens, it will be at a place with lots of land, a backer with lots of money, and a company that is known for taking risks. This leads me to believe it will be in the Middle East, financed by an Oil Royalty, and designed by Intamin. Of course, it could be a new park in Kansas, financed by the Walton family and designed by RMC or Zamperla1 point

I think Kings Island will continue to see investment. My question is will we see as much and will we see thrill rides built again? Does CP continue to get all the record breaking new and unique coaster while we continue to get family coasters and flats? Again, I'm not complaining about getting new rides but I've been saying it and I know others are too (and it's just not enthusiasts mind you) who are ready for that next thrill attraction1 point

I'm headed to Carowinds after Christmas to go for Winterfest and some more rides on Fury. I have yet to ride Nighthawk because it was closed the first time I went. Hopefully I can snag a ride on it before more rides start closing so that I can say I rode it and get the credit. Which is rougher: Nighthawk or Invertigo?1 point
-
It makes sense for Invertigo to get the axe. Like the Flying Dutchman, the standard Inverted Boomerang is an old and rare Vekoma model (though not as much of a maintenance nightmare) and isn't really that popular of a ride at Kings Island. Right now Invertigo is the last of its kind in North America and is being kept operational due to receiving spare parts from Stinger at Dorney Park, which closed 7 years ago so who knows how long those spare parts will last.1 point

There's more closures/demo notices yet to come across several other parks. SF Corporate is going hard on high-cost, high maintenance rides. It is what it is. Personally, if/when this comes to fruition - I will not miss Nighthawk. It was a terrible ride and is on my "will never ride again" list.1 point

While standups are not my favorite, I had hopes that it'd relocate. A part of me hoped that it'd make it's way back to Kentucky Kingdom. Another part of me hoped it would have received the floorless conversion and arrive at another Six Flags park.1 point

I don't know why but this reminds me of the polarcoasters.....I'll believe it when I see it.1 point

Since they have UFO theming in the Orion/Flight of Fear section of the park A UFO themed Dark Ride could be fun, or like a throwback to the Dark Ride that started it all in Coney Island a trip to the moon. Only make it have UFO's and call it A trip to Mars or something to modernize the concept.1 point

I remember the first 2 films, Days of Thunder and 007: License to Thrill were both hugely popular. The line would snake past The Racer hills and sometimes even past Vortex's station despite the HUGE capacity when both theaters were in use. The films after didn't have the notoriety of the movie IP films, but they still held their own. Then they let it die down after Spongebob and they had a dino movie to coincide with Dinosaurs Alive! without the seats being able to move. It had seats that basically made it a giant motion simulator. I've been looking for on-ride footage of DoT and 007 for a while and have come up nothing.1 point

I love how the park has continued being back the modern equivalents of previous attractions and I personally feel like the Phantom Theater deserves to be next. God knows when we're going to get a coaster to replace Vortex but I would be more than happy to wait if we got a phantom theater announcement! (This is coming from someone who was born the year it closed so no memory of it whatsoever). I think it looked like a killer dark ride and give it a really good theme and story it could rival many park's dark rides. I think the action theater is the perfect location if it's a big enough building. If not it's probably still the perfect location. I would also love to see something done with the old Tomb raider building. Does anyone else think that the hype of reopening the crypt would be way more epic than what's in the shed? I mean nobody has been inside the Crypt for 10 years.... what is going on in there? Wether it's a top spin or drop ride like tower of terror themed to an archeology dig shaft it would be awesome and probably the best themed/story ride given the legacy Tomb Raider the ride and The Crypt left behind. Not quite sure how it fits with the Rivertown theme but hey it was epic before and didn't really fit...I just think it would be epic to reopen the crypt and take an adventure into whatever madness awaits us in the darkness of that building1 point
