  1. Fast Lane to bankruptcy
  2. ^Maybe KD will offer unlimited visits to Winterfest
  3. Trademark it before they steal that from you too
  4. ^Basically a click bait article. People get evacuated off older rides as well, including Beast and Bat and Congo and Invertigo and even our B&Ms, to name a few. Doesn't mean they aren't safe. Of course if Sirens sensor throws a fault it is going to be at the tilt - that is where the most sensors are and shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Sirens Curse continues to have long lines, as does TT2, so the general public that actually goes to the parks are unfazed by it. As I have said before, and we may not like it, but they have the metrics and bids that show a ride opening "late" doesn't show a measurable impact on attendance, especially when they account for the savings by not paying a premium for a ride to be ready by season opening. Heck they have the metrics that show new rides regardless of when they open don't move the attendance needle. School trips and Music in the Parks will occur whether the new ride is ready or not. Passholders will show up whether it is ready or not. July is the summer money maker and sadly that is when they want the attractions ready. Maybe trends in the future will change that, but that is what the numbers are saying from a business standpoint. What we should be more worried about is them starting the season later or reduced operations like 9pm closes. I would rather the park be open in April and the new ride not ready until June than the park decide to open the season Memorial Day weekend. And with the whole push for comfortably crowded and chopping off days of lower attendance, nothing is safe right now.
  5. People underestimate their coaster collection. I have said for years they are a hyper or giga away from really putting Dollywood on the radar of a lot more people.
  6. You sure they aren't selling Six Axe's in the gift shop
  7. Almost like they are trying to ensure that the Q2 call goes so bad that the investors demand the chain declare bankruptcy...
  8. Wasn't one of the touted benefits of the merger was for CF to gain access to parks across the country with differing climates to better offset the colder climates most of their parks were in....
  9. Fast Lane to bankruptcy...
  10. Fast Lane to bankruptcy...
  11. KI always sees a spike in attendance when new passes go on sale because they allow all the pass add-ons to work immediately, so everyone wants to use their shiny new pass. The first couple of weekends that passes go on sale is a tough time to visit the park because the food and FL can get overwhelmed at times.
  12. Because they were going to use it as a Haunt Maze
  13. And, dare we joke about it, what if this is a ploy to try to encourage season pass sales with the buy next year, get the rest of this year free promotion and the season pass sales do not meet expectations and they decide to remove those additional days from the fall lineup....
  14. You know they will be watching the metrics closely. If 4 days of Haunt weekends doesn't move the needle more than the historical numbers, it will go back to previous the following year. We tried Thursdays once and it failed miserably, but weather played heavily into that and times are different this time. I think it will move the needle enough to justify it, but who knows how much the needle needs to move in their eyes...
  15. ^A big push on the conference calls have been to eliminate light days and add them to the times of heavy demand and they mentioned the fall season as one of them. So the question becomes do we "pay" for that with less days in the beginning of the season next year? Or 9pm closes during the week? Stay tuned....
  16. Yep. I have said here before that for years I have thought "this will be the year that people will not renew for next year" and yet every year the passes are bought and the attendance comes. And when there is a dip in attendance, do BAF and other give away the gate promotions and all is made up. So I will say it again LOL, will this be the year that our passholders say, and follow through, with not renewing for next year? But even if they do follow through, if they sell more new passes than the number that doesn't renew, nothing will change. And for good or bad, I think that will be the case, especially if the Wonderland MVP package comes to KI.
  17. But at the same time just about every new ride has the kinks to work out, it is just social media is capturing everything.
  18. Caveat emptor
  19. Stepping over a nickel to pick up a penny. It is almost like they are purposely accelerating the efforts to make bankruptcy the only option...
  20. New direction is chop off part of the season and give you a free entry ticket to make up for it. Caveat emptor
  21. Enjoy it now, because under Six Flags, nothing is a given for next year....
  22. ^That one shows they are looking for theatrically trained folks, whereas this one is just the random anyone can apply, so maybe it will be a few paid mazes and a few that are free...
  23. Now with Haunt 4 hour waits brought to you by Snickers
  24. One thing we know about our passholders is they will come regardless. Even if the park did zero decorating and no scare zones or roamers and only focused on upcharge mazes, people will still pack the park. If people can't get in the mazes with entry into the park, then the rides lines become even longer than they already are during Haunt. On Haunt Saturdays many of the FL get to/approach the queue entrance, so the lines will be even worse.
