  4. If they're teasing this much, we must be getting close to an opening date announcement. I'm beyond excited to ride Adventure Express and see the updates.

  5. Now now, they didn't lie. No two rides are the same when something new stops working every cycle.

  6. Definitely possible. Though, with no real basis besides a hunch.. I would wager the demise of the giant top spin was the decision to chop off an entire row, changing the balance of the ride & then trying to push the hardware to be more thrilling.. TR:TR definitely had downtime... but maybe about as much as Delirium? (i was young) I always wondered if we'd have the ride still given the theming, alone, were changed to be very cheap generic scary stuff.. (and) or the ride sequence was similar intensity. Afterall, people also tout SOB to be a reason to not do a vertical loop on a woodie... but that was like.. the most successful thing about it, despite its removal being a consequence rather than a cause. (again just my hunches) --- In on-topic news ... Testing happened today May 24th for Cargo Loco but with all barrels in this time~ if the Eiffel Tower ridership hasn't gone up for adventure port, then people just don't know what they're missing :p

  7. Lol. That sky ride footer has like 9 lives. It’s like a monument to KI of yore!

  8. PT was in bad shape when they removed it. Scooby was soldto us as an interactive dark ride where no two rides would ever be the same. ….then we got to ride it.

  9. I thought, perhaps 1937 was a play on the loose ties to Indiana Jones that AE has and Adventure Port expands upon. 1937 would fit in that time line, right between Raiders (1936) and The Last Crusade (1938). What really blew my mind, at least according to this https://screenrant.com/indiana-jones-movie-timeline/ Is that Temple was set in 1935, so its actually a prequel to Raiders. Maybe that should have been obvious, but I've never picked up on that before.

  10. It's actually not smaller, the 24 and 48 are the same physical size. The only difference is the seat carriers have two single seats instead of two double seats. Personally I think the one-across will provide a better open-air feeling for riders.

  11. I am honestly pleasantly surprised with the level of theming in Adventure Port so far. I hope Kings Island keeps it up.

  14. I'm happy to see they are running it at a pretty descent speed. The tea cups at some parks seem to crawl and you are forced to madly spin the cups to get any sort of thrill out of the ride.

  17. It’s borderline nonsensical since there’s a direct reference to the Ark in Temple of Doom. But yeah, it’s a prequel!

  18. I'm ashamed to admit it but I never did see the Phantom Theater Encore show last year so I will definitely make it a point to see it this year. I keep watching the POV of the ride and I still can't fathom why or how they destroyed such a masterpiece of a dark ride for Scooby Doo or the awful cardboard cutout ghosts known as boo blaster...

  19. I wonder if the Eiffel Tower has seen an increase in ridership this year since it's the prime place to spy on Adventure Port construction?

  20. I have always found it interesting that Adventure Express opened before the Paramount days but was sort of an omen as to what was coming next for the park. I'm not sure if the park management knew Paramount was going to swoop in the year following the opening of the coaster however it has remained one of the most unaltered rides from that period of park history. I really hope they bring back all the old effects that are "broken" most of the time like the spear traps and the lava effects and add more skeletons and snakes, etc. Something else I would love to see is a mist or something in the final tunnel with the cauldron guy with a red light behind it to make it appear that the lava is actually physically falling onto the trains/riders. (Much like the big thunder mountain waterfall effect on the first lift hill). I doubt they will do anything like that because the mist/water probably puts more wear on track and whatever but it would still really heighten the experience!

  21. Insulting would not be the right word, but I think a lot of life long star wars fans were turned off by it, feeling as if disney was just trying to take advantage of them. There is already a view within the star wars fandom that disney does not care about the franchise or the fans, and they are just using it to squeeze as much money out of people as quickly as possible, with no regard for the long term damage that is done by doing so. Many star wars fans feel that disney would rather make 500 million off star wars this year, and then never make another cent on it again, as opposed to the option of making 200 million a year on star wars for now until eternity.

  22. KI's past problems with 'giant' flat rides (see Tomb Raider, a Giant Top Spin and Delirium, a Giant Frisbee) may have deterred them from getting the bigger model as well.

  23. In regards to the capacity of the Endeavour, I do wonder if the 48 seat model has similar issues to the OG Enterprises. Some people are happy to sit beside someone but I often see people wanting their own row/car/cage whatever with flat rides in general. While the 48 technically can hold double the amount of people when you factor in everything else I really doubt actual capacity doubles. I'm more upset that Der Spinnin Ke.... I mean Cargo Loco doesn't have a tilting platform.

  24. I don’t think the average guest really looks at capacity and judges it like enthusiasts do. The average park goer won’t be waiting in line thinking “they should’ve gotten the larger model.” Historically our park hasn’t received a lot of flat rides under Cedar Fair in comparison to other parks in the chain so perhaps going with the lower capacity models will help the chain monitor ridership numbers so they can make decisions down the road.

  27. What do we think the meaning of "right track" is??
    1 point
  28. I'm guessing the seat carriers themselves are slightly different as on the 24 they only have a single attachment for each seat, instead of the hardware needed to attach a two-seat pod. Otherwise I'm pretty sure they're the same mechanically.

  30. Still boarding for Outpost 5 in the old soundtrack hah. I don't think I ever made the connection that Adventure Express is where that likely started, if not something else even before that in Adventure Village.

  32. Any word on The Beast? It was down Tuesday and Wednesday, I just looked on the app and it still says Down. What's going on there, it seems to be having a lot of issues so far this year.

  33. One thing you may not be considering is that a lower capacity means less theoretical ride time. They could run a 48-seat model for 2 minutes rather than a 24-seat model for 90 seconds and still come out ahead on capacity. Unless the line is empty you will be waiting more than you could have, and and you could very well be riding for less time. I wonder if this means they could just bolt on the 2 seat units at some point in the future if the capacity proves to be a problem.

  34. Well that's the real trick isn't it because unfortunately many rides have fallen into disrepair in terms of theming. I mean maybe there's a reason Adventure Express is getting "enhancement" seeing as the theming that is there only works some of the time. Stunt Cars is another one where it feels like the theming could be restored or at least maintained a bit better. I'm not saying that the rides have to have movie themes or anything but I've really enjoyed the slight theme/storylines of the newer rides like Orion and Mystic Timbers. Flight of Fear has also maintained it's theme pretty well. I'm hoping with this investment into Adventure Express that we will see more money spent on the upkeep of the theming and possibly some future revamps for rides like stunt cars and see boo blaster converted back to Phantom Theater.
