Kings Island General Discussion 2025

I don't enjoy nitpicking things that the park does, but things like this make me wonder what is going on behind the scenes. The phrase "I believe" really shouldn't be something they write in a comment like this (in my opinion). It almost reads as a hostile comment to me.

A better way to put it might be: "Go to [activation URL] and log in, then follow the steps defined on your Season Pass order voucher to activate your 2026 Gold Pass".

An even better comment would have been: "Go to [activation URL] and log in using your Kings Island account information. Then, follow the steps defined on your Season Pass order voucher to activate your 2026 Gold Pass. If you would like any additional help, please email [Six Flags helpline email address] and an associate will assist you further".

I won't say it's necessarily a bad thing when someone comments in an informal manner using an official account, but this just feels bad. The first rewrite takes almost zero additional effort compared to what was published, and the second one goes a step further by including the helpline email.

It actually isn't professional though to use that sort of wording as it instills doubt in the reader that the resource responding isn't even entirely certain of the process.

In my line of work, when I write up a report, I cannot use those kinds of words nor can I use wording like "I feel" or "I think". I have to stick to the facts and use only what has been heard, observed and experienced upon contact and whatever information is relayed to me when writing up a report. Using anything but the facts would not hold water or up in court if taken all the way there. Granted, my example is a lot more serious, the sentiment still stands that this isn't a good look or a good way to communicate protocol to a customer as this doesn't scream confidence in knowing your product and how it works.

I fear that this is going to be the way for the foreseeable future. There have just been so many changes and shifts in passes, processes and what not that there doesn't seem to be any unified understanding. I really hope this doesn't remain the norm. I want to see each park thrive within themselves and their staff to also thrive and be confident in their product. It can only mean success and satisfaction for all.

This is how it looks for brands when your social media person isn’t far removed from their last group project being for extra credit.

The sad thing is that Cedar Fair was always TERRIBLE about creating programs and benefits that all have different rules and restrictions (like the old gold pass perks that were like "get 10% off a Cinnabon between 4pm-4:30pm on odd numbered days of even numbered months), then not explaining it to the front line associates or telling them when anything changed. When I worked at the park, we often found out about changes because guests would ask us about them, and we'd look foolish because no one had told us that anything had changed. Six Flags has always been better in this regard. Things were clearly stated, and when they weren't, there never seemed to be an issue getting an answer. It's sad that now the whole company behaves like Cedar Fair, except with the added wrinkle of them not caring about your experience whatsoever once they have your money.

As someone who often has doubts, this was exactly what I thought when I first read that comment. The person asking the question would've had every right to say, "Oh, that didn't really answer any part of my question in a meaningful way".

It feels bad to see that they don't have anyone more experienced (nearby) working above to guide these younger social media folks.

Interesting that this time only "unused" tickets can be used another day. I guess, too bad if you wanted to make the most of a day with bad weather not expecting them to close 5 hours early.

That or at least give them a partial refund for the 5 hours that were cut. I was there earlier today when they made the announcement, and I saw several guests complaining about not being able to get a refund. It would be really nice if the park had a "Worry-Free Weather Guarantee" like a certain other park has, but corporate certainly wouldn't approve of that.

Did the park forget where it was located today? I’m confused why they are posting about the KC Chiefs???

As I was doing some zooming around on the Google StreetView of KI I noticed this particular typo ("King's") on the old Thunder Alley sign. Does anyone remember seeing this and know if it stuck around until the end of the attraction? Cedar Fair making some typos in the rapid retheming of all the Paramount Parks properties would be understandable, but not sending someone up with a little piece of black tape or some paint for a 6-ish years is interesting.

I wonder if they will move the ice carver to the new pavilion. With the potential for a downsized Winterfest this would make a good second location. Although, if the event maintains its size or is expanded this will be a great spot to have another show. I think the stretched covers have to be removed once it starts snowing though.

I appreciated that the park was open this past weekend, but I thought it was very strange that all the non-Winterfest rides went down for weather around 1 yesterday and didn't come back up. It was cold, but I was at Canada's Wonderland the weekend before and they ran everything all weekend, even though the temperature there was colder than it was in Mason yesterday.

I know Canada has wheel heaters in the station. Maybe it would be wise for Kings Island to invest in those so that they can run their rides in colder temperatures, if they plan on having this bonus weekend in future years. At the very least, it would be nice to have standardized policies so that you know that all the B&M gigas across the chain will operate in this temperature, all the B&M hypers, etc.

My lady and I got to the park before 2PM yesterday and we were disappointed that we didn't get a chance to hit all the B&Ms once more before they were done for the season. But alas, they were down. Much of the park was honestly very dismal yesterday. However, I did get a first ever experience with getting a bit of a snowy ride on Delirium for the first time ever. That was something. That was the only ride going in Action Zone. Most of the flats were running and Racer/MT/FoF were of course going as they would during WF. We noticed a lot of the eateries were breaking down for the season and really just as a whole, the park felt like it might close earlier than 7 due to the weather getting marginally worse and the overall crowds being non-existent.

I will say the $2 sale inside the gift shop by the entrance by the lockers was a nice surprise. We got a few mugs, cups and a magnet. Granted they were Orion overstock, still can't beat $2!

I attended yesterday from open to close. Got Bat's last first ride of the day of the season, plus 12 more rides before it was told to close around 3:30. I caught its last train of the season but didn't know it until my train rolled out of the station and the driver spieled, "That 'all clear' sends you out of here on the last train of the season!" It did briefly go down just before 2, but thankfully for short enough that it could reopen despite the already-below-minimum ambient temperature. Even in the mid-30's, it was hauling!

I also rode the B&M's before they closed, and finally got my lifetime Delirium count to 100 plus its snowy last ride of the season. When I got tired of the cold, I marathoned Flight of Fear and got 24 rides in just a couple of hours!

Additionally, I unexpectedly got WindSeeker's last cycle of the season the previous night before it went down, meaning I netted three last rides of the season in just over 24 hours!

I agree with you that it would be nice to have, but I'm just not sure how feasible that would really be. Every ride has its own parameters for operation and every state has its own rules for adherence to manufacturers' restrictions. Rides themselves can also be so temperamental as is. Even with the same ride at two different places, they are just going to respond differently to their environments. I'm not sure I could expect both FOFs to operate the same / tolerate the same conditions as each other**, much less Goliath at SFOG and Diamondback. The same would go for Ninja at SFMM and The Bat; Silver Bullet at Knott's and Banshee; and Racer 75 at KD and The Racer.

**See infamous stories of KI's FOF causing electrical issues while Drop Zone lifted through its brakes as just one example of a location-specific quirk, something every ride has in one way or another.
