There is a reason I did not post the AI designs on the KIC social channels. The channels that did, the replies are nothing but negative feedback on the designs.

As they should.

I'm hoping that this is the kind of thing that bringing back a boots-on-the-ground Park President will fix.

You've put it beautifully! I'd like to echo that there are some things that will probably be fixed in the coming weeks, but some of the other stuff is likely sticking around for a while. The gift shops in particular feel a little empty and stale right now. Just this past Saturday I was talking to someone about how burnt out I felt with the park after my first visit of the season. Some of that feeling dissipated after I got back to the park on Sunday, but I'm definitely in an era right now where I need to take things slower than I have been.

This is going to continue to be a rougher stretch of time for Kings Island, but I'm hopeful that the steps that people like John Reilly are taking will be better in the long run.

Creativity and the arts are what made parks like Kings Island thrive in the beginning! I absolutely love when the arts get integrated into anything (though I am incredibly biased as a creative and fine arts person myself). I'd really like to see people in the company who understand the importance of creativity, especially in spite of how the legacy Six Flags company operated.

This will sound bad, but I really hope the AI merch fails entirely. Not only does it get the details wrong, it's also incredibly ugly! Also, the new AI magnets are $9 a piece. Even after considering the minimal amount of labor that went into them (which literally only consisted of printing, shipping/delivery, and stocking) there is no way these things should cost more than $5. That also feels like a stretch. I won't be buying them and I hope none of you do either.

No matter what your opinions on AI are, please please please do not buy that crazy ugly merchandise!!

You are absolutely correct. No creative/the arts, no Kings Island. No Disney World. No Disneyland. No Pokemon. No Magic The Gathering. No Skyrim. No Minecraft. No nothing. I dont actually know lots about art history overall, its just that so many things I know have fit together like puzzle pieces especially now that Ive watched like 300 animated shows. Dang, itd be so cool to get a animated show about Kings Island.. A 4 parter special for Phantom Theater.. A debut episode about The Racer.. All that with a twist of all the rides and attractions basically coming to life so that there are sentient characters that represent them all. Could always go the Cars/Planes/Brave Little Toaster route for the likes of The Racer. Imagine how beautiful the animation would be when made with love by the efforts of animators, scriptwriters, voice actors, concept artists, and so on..

Good. Thats a excellent reflection of the growing and rightful rejection of AI slop. And it will only keep going because the reasons why it all sucks are so vast that just about any person can resonate with at least one of them.

The new area for the Living Liberty Bell has been spruced up for 2026! Kings Island has planted some trees and plants around the outside of the planter and has repainted the rim of said planter to a dark blue color. I guess they must've agreed that the Eiffel Tower Green color was not a good fit for the old LLB. Hopefully we can see some more little things like this added around the park in the near future!

Looks like alot of activity around Zeypher today.  may be ready by this weekend.

It looks to be fully raised on its pillar today, so I'm right there with you on the speculation.

Rozzi Fireworks is looking for a local drone pilot to help with the nightly drone show at Kings Island beginning May 22nd. The post didn't mention anything about fireworks, but it's entirely possible for that to be a result of the job not requiring interactions with any fireworks rather than it being a sign that the fireworks have been cut for 2026. The starting date lines up with the beginning of 10PM closures.

I'm a little worried that this will be the year we lose the fireworks, especially since there's not much official information available from the park on entertainment offerings. Most of the stuff we know about is either from Brad Ross' posts and signage around the park that only says show names and start dates.

This is from the drone person. He is not looking for pyrotechnics people, but drone specific.

This would be akin to seeing a job posting for a clarinetist in a musical, but seeing no mention of a Hilda Bovine in said ad.

The fireworks could be cut.  They could erect a second observation tower beside the original. But in both scenarios, the chances are low.

I thought I mentioned that I understood that, but yes. I figured they might mention fireworks being nearby as part of flying conditions. Most of my worries stem from the lack of announced entertainment offerings. We've been close to losing the fireworks before so it's not entirely out of the question, especially as Six Flags continues to cut costs.

Wasn't that originally a foundation for a WinterFest tree?

I wonder if the delays on Zephyr are because they were busy working on Monster, because Zephyr is always ready at open.

The current Living Liberty Bell planter does look like it was installed as a Winterfest tree spot, but looking through historical imagery I don't think it lasted very long. Either way it looks much better now with all of the new plantings. Google Earth shows a tree there in 2017, but a real tree seems to have been planted there a few years later.

It's hard to believe that next year will be 10 years since Winterfest 3.0 began. If the event makes it to 2030 then it will be the longest running KI Winter event.

I have had mixed feelings about fireworks over the last 8 years and have generally come to mainly dislike them for how loud they are, especially after some of the neighbors started spamming fireworks many nights in 2024 which continued last year as well. If they do cut the fireworks, that would be a shame but at the same time, the drone shows look really cool and there have been studies on the disruptions fireworks have on the likes of pets and wild animals such as the development of trauma.

The tree that used to sit on that foundation was moved to Coney Mall, across from the Zephyr a year or two after Winterfest returned.  Probably more foot traffic in that area.  This was before they made that path be the Shooting Star path for Winterfest.  That is one of my favorite decorated areas of the park.

As it is now and when Winterfest returned, as Winterfest Way (with the blow molds and that animated tree) was/is the best.

We need to keep the fireworks. I understand they are expensive and not necessary and most people leave at 9 instead of 10 but they are tradition...and we are one of the few if not the only park in the Taft/Paramount group that still does nightly summer fireworks. Hoping the fireworks can stay and if they do need to cut back maybe they could move to Fri, Sat, Sun fireworks nights? Not that I want them to do that but I'm saying please don't get rid of them altogether

The fireworks ending each night at Kings Island are one of the best traditions that the park has! If the budget really forced any cuts to that department then I would be fine with the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday schedule, but it should be one of the first things brought back when the budget forecast (presumably) improves. Not only is Kings Island the last Taft/KECO/Paramount park that has nightly fireworks — or any form of nightly nighttime spectacular in general — it is one of the only parks in the country that does it. Disneyland and Magic Kingdom have their fireworks, I believe Epcot has a nightly show that uses Spaceship Earth, and Epic Universe is supposed to have one once they get their situation figured out. I haven't heard about any nighttime firework spectaculars that happen every night from many other regional parks. I think Holiday World has one, but I can't remember if theirs is only drones or not.

If the drone show does get moved to the fireworks plot then I could see a very large area of trees being cleared for it. The current setup doesn't use the entire Vortex plot from what I can tell, but the firework launch pad is not big enough.

You know deep down that's not how it works. If they get rid of them they'll be gone forever. Here's to hoping common sense prevails and they keep them for all 10 pm closes.

Key word there being "should". I know Six Flags would not bring them back in the company's current state, but I do think a company focused more on guest experience (rather than paying down debt) would know the fireworks are something that should always happen with 10pm park closing at Kings Island.

There's a chance that Six Flags starts shutting the park down at 9pm during the week to say "It's not a 10pm closing so no fireworks" if the situation is really that dire. Otherwise they just get rid of them altogether with no excuse. Either is possible.
